I have to say that there is not a single OL I would choose in the first round. Skoronski is no tackle. Any rusher with longer arms, which is most of them, will chew him up. We have a player who is almost identical in Driscoll, who also has experience and is at least serviceable at tackle. Skoronski will be a guard and unless you're Martin or Nelson, you're not worth a high pick. Paris Johnson does nothing for me either. He's not particularly strong or quick and, horror of horrors! He's a waist bender. He's a project and therefore not a first rounder.

A guy I like a lot is O'Cyrus Torrence. He's a technical mess but he's terrific raw material. Big, strong, and mean.

What's wrong with him? Worst thing, he doesn't slide in pass protection. He turns and when you turn the rusher can blow right by you. He definitely lunges, and gets over his skis. When he sets his legs are too wide, which is why he can't slide. When you slide the first foot to move is the one in the direction of the slide. However, if you're halfway to doing a split the first foot to move will be the back foot and by then you're already too late. I don't know if he has a kick-step. For sure I've never seen it. I hope that makes sense. He too is a project but we have the coach to fix him. I could see us using our third round pick on him. Give him one year with Stoutland and he can take over at RG when Jurgens moves to C. Give him two years and he can take over at RT when Lane retires.

I said that verbatim about Torrence and everyone laughed at me.

The raw tools are there.  And we have the coach for raw tools.

Year 1…expect nothing.  Year 2…expect a RG.  Year 3…expect a RT.

Gee, you couldn’t write it up better than that.

Another great example of the Eagles in Reebok template. Notice the shine and the color.

The problem being that the Thursday night games tend to be worse, I think, because of the lack of recovery and practice time.

They could address that by having a team’s bye week precede the Thursday game.  Absent that, they could select the matchups so the travel logistics are minimal … no long trips, Thursday games on the road only after a home game, etc.

Ras compare   Kancey and Aaron Donald. Ras doesn't have Kanceys new numbers up yet.

But  3 cone compare.   Kancey 6.82 vs Donald 7.11.
Shuttle Kancey 4.33 vs Donald 4.39
Vert Kancey 33.5 vs Donald 32
Broad Kancey 9'4 vs Donald 9'8
Weight Kancey 283 vs Donald 285

Donald had an excellent bench of 35.  Don't see Kancey's.

Kancey has better 40 time,  10 split and 3 cone.

I think Midnight green looks better now than ever before tbh.

Not sure which I like.  I'm always a Kelly Green guy but I've always liked this shade that Oregon used if the Eagles insisted on using a dark color scheme.

Thanks for writing this I've missed your O-line content, a while back I had an O-line question and I think  tagged you and then someone mentioned you had left, I thought well that sucks.

I know someone else mentioned it but watcha think of Freeland from BYU?

He's a stud athletically but may be a little light in the pants, but I don't think it's nothing a pro strength and training regiment can improve.

He also has played both RT and LT, started at RT finished senior year at LT.

He's got real good length and like I said he's a great athlete with a lot of tools but other than that my knowledge of o line nuance isn't as extensive as yours so I'd be Interested what you think of him.

I think he has the athletic traits that Stoutland can work with.

Some of the Eagles early Midnight Green were also made by Starter and yea, 1995, Randalls last year is when they had the stitched on numbers, easy to tell because they had a shine or reflective effect.

It's also interesting that certain teams use different jersey templates.  The Packers for instance, even though they are using Nike jerseys, don't use a Nike jersey template, they still use the Reebok template. It think there are 1 or 2 other teams that still use pre-Nike templates. They use the more traditional jersey template with the seam going across the upper chest creating the shoulder and sleeve area.  The also use the more traditional mesh and thicker nylon/cotton that adds the shine to the shoulders (same thing that could be used for shiny pants).

Packers GM Brian Gutekunst provides new timeline of Aaron Rodgers trade request

Here you can see the Eagles when they used to use the old template.  Nike logo, Reebok template.

Philadelphia Eagles 2014 offseason preview - CBSSports.com

The current template is the Nike Vapor Pro, which you can see doesn't have the seem like the one, rather has the seem on ther shoulder cap.  You can also tell the material is different and the green is an entirely different color.  For all of the hype around jersey technology, it seems to me the new ones hold sweat more than any of the old mesh ones do.

Jalen Hurts.

At least they got rid of the horrible Flywire

Nike Flywire vs Nike Vapor. The current jersey are prob. a better fit while wearing shoulder pads but wearing the jersey as a fan… ehh. The Flywire jerseys just felt much more

The Flywire also created a terrible collared look for some teams because apparently the technology didn't allow them to use the same color for the collar to go the whole way around the neck.

Several NFL Teams Ditching Terrible Nike Collar Design – SportsLogos.Net News

Yeah the fly wire didn’t last very long. I didn’t mind it but they are more scarce in the game worn jersey market. I thought certain teams looked better than others. The chargers it really didn’t look good.

i think the newer Nike midnight green actually pops better in pictures and tv. But when you have them in hand they actually look different. I don’t know how to explain it but if you have a green eagles jersey from 2017-present it definitely doesn’t pop like that hurts picture regardless of what lighting you use. The Reebok jerseys they wore in games looked the same when you got it in hand

I wonder if the packers use the Reebok nameplate might be associated with the game issued/worn jerseys are mostly produced in Berlin, Wisconsin by a company called ripon. If you ever get the chance to go to a ripon sales event ( they randomly happen) and it’s first come first serve nothing online sold. they have some crazy stuff from all eras that they just kept for years and patches and all sorts of things

i tend to like the older material more when wearing my jerseys. Also i think Reebok just held up better. Low key puma jerseys from late 90s actually were really well done and hold up really well. Color is very good. Sadly didn’t use them all that much but i have a Duce Staley puma from the late 90s/early 2000s. It’s pretty slick.

Lol

It's not even midnight green anymore, more like teal.

I also think another thing the effects how the green looks now is the Eagles have seemingly ditched their black topped socks and now go with all white wtih the exception of a few players.  Green pants on a white sock looks much different than green pants on a black sock.

I still have my old Reebok dawk in 48. They’re still the best. I don’t even bother with jerseys anymore but those authentics were the best

They are. To add on, mitchell and ness is crap quality. Used to be decent now it’s crap and definitely not worth what they charge. You’d be better off just finding a jersey from that actual era for the price and value

Very true.

Goedert is under contract through 2025 and I think they give Calcaterra at least one more season before deciding whether a TE2 is needed .... although I will say I like this TE class and would not totally discount grabbing one if he is BPA

I don't see the Eagles drafting a punter, but there will be a lot of guys brought in to audition.  I think Siposs' days as an Eagle are over.

I agree that the TE class is very good … perhaps even outstanding.  I love the idea of Luke Musgrave as our Slot Receiver.  Sam LaPorta is intriguing as well in that role.  Darnell Washington is more of a traditional TE, but the thought of him in green gives me shivers.  Any of those three could be a BPA at the time the Eagles pick.

Glad there’s more love for Torrence. Been high on him. Don’t think he’ll be there at 30, but if it is, would be fine if he’s the pick. Keep this line stacked.

Quez with the second highest failed rate reception last year. He's probably going to be WR4 or WR5 seeing as it's unlikely he gets cut based on Sirianni's recent comments.

Demarcus Robinson and Breshad Perriman are still out there, but the draft might be where we find our answer.

Anyone got a WR on their radar in the mid to later rounds this year?

I think your breakdown is eminently fair. Day Three in the draft but higher than 7th round. Fourth or fifth, of which we currently have neither. A project, but in my limited view pretty much all the OL prospects are projects. I like Torrence because he has one real quality: strength. And, his feet are not bad, just badly coached. I don't see a single great quality in Freeland. Then again, Lane was a QB at one point. If Stoutland can build Freeland, maybe. Like Torrence, a two year project.

I may get flamed for this but was dating a girl years and years ago who got implants and said her bathing suit tops no longer fit. So she CUT UP my Asante 48 to make a top out of the eagles logos, and one with my first name "Samuel” right across Main Street. The guy in me loved it. The eagles fan in me hated it. Needless to say we didn’t work out.

This but with orcas...

Schmoopie and I made the 2009 Miami road trip part of an anniversary vacation.  Fortunately we made the game the tail end of the trip. (Orlando (1N), Key West (2N), Key Largo (5N), Miami Beach (2N), Savannah (1N)) <_<

Anyway the day after we are driving to Savannah and were listening to Doug's presser and he said this gem

Quote

"They played harder than we did. …They wanted it more than we did.”

After almost swerving onto I-95 south and once my vison stopped being hues of red, my mind went to this:

(Schmoopie tweeted it to 97.5 and they ended up playing it a few times after they played the Doug quote  )

They also know not to attack humans. Some weird stat where the only recorded orca attacks were in captivity, which is pretty astonishing.

I can’t fathom how they figured out not to do that. People are helpless in the water, I’d eat every one of those mofos

Maybe they think of us like bugs. You play with the ant hill for awhile, but they’re still gross

Maybe they used to attack people, those Orcas then got hunted down. Darwinian pressure against human hunting.

Also it seems like other marine mammals are pretty friendly towards humans. Other wales, dolphins have even been found to save humans, etc.

They are like the predator.  There is no sport in hunting wet, overgrown monkeys trying not to drown
