Awesome. Let’s draft a guy at 10 and convert him from a QB to a WR/RB/TE/P.

Slash, ( Kordell Stewart) was fun for a minute, but yeah you don't draft him at 10.

Miami had their 5 minutes in the Sun running that offense without a QB with just Ronnie Brown in the backfield.

Coaches for years have been wet dreaming about a 2 QB offense where both are lined up shotgun behind center and the center can snap to either and either can run it or pass it or hand it off to one or the other or even pass it to the other and double passes, and while that sounds like a lot of fun the chances one is going to get 2 QBs who can run as well as  RBs catch as well as WRs and throw as well as QBs is pretty slim so why not just let a RB be a good RB and a QB be a good QB and WR be a good WR while the O lineman do what they do best which is block

I could see maybe a highschool team or maybe a college team running some funky 2 QB system and it's probably been done in the past but it's not sustainable and won't ever happen in the NFL especially with cap restrictions and such.

Fun to think about but not realistic much like reglars posts

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

I agree.

I said a while ago I'm interested in building something similar to Minnesota's former Williams wall.

To continue stopping the run with less,  and defending the pass with more,  and protecting  those small LBs.

Mazi, Ika or Dexter would be targets.  Their interest in Brandon Roy, who is a NT seems to confirm youre thinking along the same lines as the team.

Dean and Morrow are interchangeable. I'd like someone like Overshown in the draft because he's a sideline to sideline,  good coverage backer who also brings some size at about 6"3". That's ideal to get that skillet on a guy with some size and length.

The DT from Western Kentucky would fit that mold.  For that matter Noah Elliss would as well.

It could maybe become more of a thing, but way in the distant future as the game evolves further. But right now it doesn’t work. It’d be like trying to have Zach Ertz as a TE in the 80’s

Once we get harper back this lineup is gonna be  even more bonkers. Shame we won’t have hoskins this year. Sadly didn’t get to see that best lineup we could’ve had at any point.

Regarding Hoskins, is Hall that much of a drop off?

Hall is unproven. So far in his career he hasn’t hit lefties well so he’s likely platooning at first.  he’s not nearly the prospect that hoskins was when he came up. Hoskins is very hot and cold but when he’s hot he’s ridiculous. When he’s cold he’s awful. Fielding wise they both aren’t very good. I’m guessing if the Phillies are in contention at the deadline it’s likely the position they go after.

Wonder if Carter falls to day 2

Will be interesting to watch

He could have a meteoric fall or go top 10.🤷‍♂️

Before all his problems he was consensus top pick, heralded as the best safest player in the draft.

Oh how the mighty have fallen...

So,  just attacking me?

Maybe you just aren't smart enough to understand what I'm saying.

I'm not saying that some player is dragged away from their position.  I'm saying that some player who is playing their position will also do something else.

I give specifics.  You give nothing.

You are talking to yourself in a phone booth.

You have to know that the chances of anyone here having the extreme risk profile you have is somewhere between slim and none and slim has left the building.

To put my comment above into context for you, if you asked all the EMB posters what mattwill’s risk profile is, they would all say that I was/am a massive risk taker.  But I am a distant, distant second on the risk scale.  You are the leader by a mile.

6. Draft Jalen Carter and make him the H-back

That would be irregular.

Why is he a terrible fit?

I honestly don't know him, but as I understand he can play at both tackle positions and guard. Isn't that ideal for the Eagles? He can be the 6th OL in 2023, compete with Jurgens for the RG spot, and become the starting guard in 2024 when Jurgens moves to center.

Driscoll can play both tackle positions and guard.

I do too. Not sure we have a pick that is at his value though.

Just because he can doesn't mean he does so well

He's ok as a backup, he's a little too small length wise to be a consistent starter at tackle and a little too small weight wise to be a consistent starter at OG.

Some thought his best position in the Pros might be center, if I remember one year he took some summer snaps there but seems they've moved away from Driscoll the center.

He's valuable in that he could possibly play all 5 positions in a pinch but that value decreases when he isn't available to play any as he's oft injured.

It's opening day.  Let's see what that ball park looks like in 2-3 months.  It'll be a ghost town like it usually is.

I’ll be sure to tag you when it's June/July and that ball park is empty and Phillies are on the outside looking in of the wild card race.

And damn right I have little knowledge of it.  God awful boring sport.  Phillies are one of my most disliked teams in all of sports.

66% attendance.  Oh man, packed house.

Ghost Town … ball park is empty

Do you see the disconnect between you comments and reality?

What percentage of capacity is a ghost town?  Single digits?

What percentage of capacity is an empty house?  Low single digits?

I don't watch a lot  of baseball, I find it pedantic, but every time I catch a glimpse of a day game there's like 20 people tops in the stands, and I'm like

A. Who are these people, day drinkers???

And 2nd- how the heck does baseball afford those outrageous guaranteed contracts when no one watches baseball🤷‍♂️

Well if we want to really look at it objectively since all teams play 162 games, 81 games at home with those games taking place at those times, I went back over the past 10 years and took their average attendance over those years.  2020 is a wash because of COVID and apparently no teams had any attendance according to the ESPN's attendance stat page.  But in those other 9 seasons the Phillies have ranked 17th of 30 teams in attendance.  This for the 4th largest market in the entire MLB population wise with all of the markets larger than the Phillies splitting their fanbases between two teams in each of those 3 markets.

The Philies had a few seasons of absolutey dreadful play.  No team, no matter the market size, is going to keep attendance up when the team is piss poor.

When Hoskins is hot, his at bats are so fun to watch.  He's just easy to root for too.  Hopefully once he's more mobile he'll be on the bench...if that's allowed?

I know they gave him a locker still even though he’s gonna miss the entire year. I’m guessing at home he’ll be in the dugout and clubhouse

MLB pulled in $11 billion last year.  Add in the revenue the teams are making from the horrible ad patches and money is the least of their concerns.

But I agree.  When you see day games with no fans, how do they afford it...strange.

Thomson said he’s going to rejoin the team in a couple of days

Just curious what's the advantage of a team stating they're taking someone off their draft board?

Maybe they want to trade down with another team or maybe it wasn’t an intentional leak.  It could also be just some internet bs.

Driscoll has that Kelce/Herremans effect that he’s a later round pick and easy to root for. He’s great as a 6th OL but not someone ideally you want starting.

Sixers by comparison, also in a 30 team league, have averaged a better 14th in attendance during the same time period and half of those years an open and intentional tank to lose as many games as possible took place.  Phillies have a mostly fairweather fanbase.  It is what it is.
