I often point out the good to very good PFF numbers of these UFAs the Eagles are signing.

In this case PFF really hates Kentavius Street. He's routinely in the 40s for a grade with a high of about 50.5

2020 was a 32.1

PFR is not much better with AVs of 2 for the last 3 years.

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

Dallas is the only team in the nfl that hasn’t drafted a 1st rd DT in 30 years. They’ve put no money into the position through free agency in 20 years. Jerry Jones does not feel it’s a relevant position to team success

Good, it will improve the odds.

I’m just going to put my money on Carter to the Cowboys at this point.

Bijan Robinson will be a Cowboy if he drops to them.

Street is 4th or 5th on the depth chart at DT, depending on Ellis.

Ellis, if healthy this year, has a good shot at being out Tuipulotu as the backup NT.

Davis, Cox and Williams will get the lion's share of minutes.

And you have to figure they'll draft a DT on the first or second day of the draft.

I go to the same isn't of games per year for the teams I'm a fan of regardless of how they do that season.  If anything probably less the better the teams are due to how expensive the tickets then get.

Have you tried being less poor?

CBS sports has a 3 round mock out: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2023-nfl-three-round-mock-draft-colts-trade-for-lamar-jackson-ravens-replace-star-with-anthony-richardson/

One of the things they are mocking is that the Ravens will trade Lamar to the Colts for the #4 pick.

First, the Ravens have the nonexclusive franchise tag on him, so he could theoretically negotiate with the Colts without any trade.  The Colts have a ton of cap space -- why could they not just make an offer to Lamar that's big enough so that the Ravens couldn't match it?

Also, as an outside observer, I'm thinking that Lamar may not want to go back to the Ravens unless he gets his guaranteed deal.  Why would I trade the #4 overall pick?  Why not just let this thing play out and wait a year or two until he's actually free?  And who exactly are you bidding against?  It's not like teams are lining up for Lamar's service.

Seriously, games are crazy expensive these days.  By the time gotten your ticket, parked your car, got a beer and a hot dog, you're out $100 or more.  You could go SRO or way cheap sets and only drop half that, but why?

Howie loves jumping ahead of the Cowboys to get a player he wants.  Maybe somebody wants a comp pick or two?

A nonexclusive franchise tag means if Indy gets a contract with Lamar that Baltimore won’t match, then they automatically trade #4 overall and another 2024 first round pick for his rights. It’s unavoidable.

So what you’re saying should happen is exactly what happened in that mock: Indy signed him to a deal that Baltimore didn’t want. It’s why no one has even touched him yet, Baltimore either gets Lamar or 2 1sts

And so it begins the scrolling past the baseball and basketball talk lol

I just don’t like this draft. Bad year to have a top 10 pick that isn’t top 5.

Next year's top 10 will be ridiculous too. Would love to flip our 1st this year for next year's 1st.

What makes it a bad draft? Not long ago people were saying this was a great draft

Edit: I don't watch college ball so I go by what you guys say lol

I woke up today with an epiphany. If they can afford it, and it's a big if, Howie needs to do whatever he can to get Jeffrey Simmons by draft night. Even if it means giving the 10th pick. The guy is probably the 2nd best DT in the NFL and he's in his mid 20's. He's good against the run, he's a really good pass rusher. He's a blue chip cornerstone player. Or maybe Howie trades down a bit to the mid teens to pick up extra picks and then trades that pick+ for Simmons.

It will fill a major need and we won't have to worry about uncertainty, draft busts. We'd get another dominant plugin player you can build around for years.

I know we've talked about him a lot on here, but I honestly don't think we've talked about him enough considering how good he is.

If you can afford it, do whatever it takes, Howie

I am absolutely shocked to see Will McDonald as high as he is in the run stop rate. I was under the impression that he was a pass rush specialist, only. And an older one at that.

When you look across the board in each of those stats, Will McDonald may be the best player out of this years group. His sack rate is also #1 on that chart.

Im not against Nolan Smith at 10 despite the odd fit. I think you can put him on the field anywhere and he will make plays.

But Ive also been in to the idea of McDonald or the App State kid (wish he was on this chart) a little later as better value alternatives.

This definitely confirms it with McDonald for me.

Not very familiar with McDonald.

How was his combine and or pro day?

6'4" 245 could stand to put on 10+lbs.

How's his arm length and where is he projected in the draft?

I haven't finished listening to his interview with Kelce but one ot the interesting parts is Howie talking about his fear of missing a deal.  I would be confident that if Simmons is available, Howie knows what the Titans are asking for and to some extent what Simmons is looking for in a contract.  I agree he would be a great fit and he's young.  I just wonder if the money aspect makes him cost prohibitive.

I'm not sure how Howie fits him under the cap, I mean he's obviously a good player at a position Howie values, I'd love to have him and would gladly give up 10 for him

Draft picks are unknowns, Simmons is a known commodity.

I can't see it happening simply because of price tag but Howie has done crazier things so🤷‍♂️

Would you take Jeffrey Simmons and the 30th overall pick, or Kevin Byard, Will Anderson, and the cap space to re-sign Sweat/Dickerson/Smith in. Year or two?

If the Eagles don't take Carter and he's there then he has huge red flags because they love to draft that position.

The red flag has been up for a while now.  It would be a red flag to the team if they do draft him when he falls out of 1st round.

I caught a portion of an interview last night with Panthers GM Scott Fitterer.  They were discussing the trade-up from #9 to first overall, and obviously he wasn't saying which QB they were going to select.  Clearly, the NFL instructs teams now not to divulge who the #1 overall pick will be -- because the draft has become a TV ratings boom and a money maker for the league and the networks.

One statement he made did catch my attention, though.  He said "I asked Frank not to tell me which QB he had in mind".  This made me interpret from his statement that it likely wasn't his decision as GM to make the trade up to #1.  I wonder if it was the owner saying "You need to get QB fixed, even if it means trading up to #1" and instructing Fitterer to do so, or if Frank Reich was the one who requested the trade-up because he had one specific QB of choice and convinced the organization a trade up to #1 overall was the only way to guarantee acquiring him.

Really tough call. Probably Simmons and 30. I love Anderson, but he's an unknown. Hard to turn down getting one of the two best at DT in the sport in their mid 20's. These are the situations you take advantage of when you have two 1sts.

How would this even work? Are they going to put them in the AFL, or split the division across both conferences?

Another issue though is with Simmons, the moment you trade for him is the moment you have to hand him that 5y/125m$ contract. We’ll be losing a Josh sweat, and/or a Haason Reddick, and/or a Landon Dickerson and/or a DeVonta Smith down the road with that on the books

The owners' greed will be the eventual downfall of the league.
