The Eagles literally post videos of Brandon Graham taunting the other team before and during the game. So essentially according to a bunch of old man that is ok and not 'classless' but at the end of the game it's not.  Taunting is taunting

Timing absolutely matters. Before the game, it's a battle of wills, trying to get an edge. After, it's lack of sportsmanship.

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

If first 4 picks are QBs, wonder how much higher Hooker goes. Could someone reach into top 10?

Agree, the mentality to want to rub it in after a game is all but decided is indeed immature and classless. But one that Clark seems to be all too familiar with...

Yeah, I'm not talking about Reese/Clark in particular, just responding to his general point.

So how's it different from this again? Because he had his back to Ray when he did it?

To be clear, I dislike her framing this as a race issue. If anything, she should more so take issue with the fact that this sort of thing happens very often in other sports without anyone so much as batting an eyelash.

One was during the game and a single incident.

One was after winning a championship at the expense of celebrating with your teammates that worked their asses off with you to get to that point. It was then dragged out, taken to the locker room/post game interviews, etc.

Suppose in that scenario TO continued to follow Ray Lewis around and getting in his face. How much do you want to bet he'd rightfully get flagged for it?

And to be clear, I don't really care one way or another. Players talk crap all of the time. I do think making it racial and refusing to let it go is idiotic, though.

Ray was right there when TO scored, literally on the field a few away. And likewise instead of celebrating the game-winning TD with his teammates, TO decided it was more important to rub that in Ray's face by mocking his entrance dance. I agree with you that Reese was excessive in her taunting by aiming it more directly at Clark, but I just don't see it as being worlds apart from what we see almost every single week in the NFL. Players mock other players all the time in other sports so I'm just struggling to understand why this is so different.

Pat Bev does that stuff all the time.  That said why would anyone address Pat Bev and Austin Reaves... 2 pretty much irrelevant guys in the NBA

Again, one was a single incident and it was over. There was still time on the clock. He didn't run up and get in his face for the next 20 seconds. It wasn't a championship game.

There are people "defending" this that were upset with how happy AJ Brown appeared when winning a playoff game and how Tom Brady didn't shake Nick Foley's hand. Just funny to me.

I'm not defending Reese. I've said multiple times that it was classless and obnoxious, but my entire point is that it's not much different from what we see so often in other sports. Ok sure, it's a fair point that it was in the dying moments of a championship game, but I'm still not sure that aspect alone is enough to justify the disproportionate reaction.

Thoughts?

Another good example, actually. Did this happen at the end of a championship game? Was it in Gifford's face? I think this one ticks all the boxes.

Yep. The LSU's player taunting was excessive but at the end of the day, it's still just a taunt. The amount of media attention being given to this is a bit shocking to say the least. I watched the end of a football game where players from one team confronted two players from the other team in the tunnel after a loss and literally beat the ish outta them. Like literal physical assault. Maybe we are a bit desensitized to it for some sports as compared to others?

And the taunt here was mocking a gesture the Iowa player had apparently done several times throughout the tournament. So I guess the analog would be when a DE sacks Rodgers and mocks his stupid discount double check dance? Players often choose to rub it in when they get one over on their opponent. We all (or at least most) enjoyed TO mocking Ray Lewis after scoring the game-winning TD against BAL and doing his thing on the Dallas star to rub it in Jerry's face. Seems like it's the sorta thing that while obnoxious and classless at times, still happens quite a bit in pretty much every sport with heated levels of competition.

Not shocking to me.  It's controversial and it involves a white and black player.

If it was 2 black players or 2 white players you probably would hear very little.  Media knows what it's doing.

Just to play devil's advocate:

It isn't as though she hit a big game winner over Clark, turned to her and did it once. She followed her around rather than celebrating, taunted a player who didn't taunt her to begin with, took it to the post game interview and social media hours after the fact while adding more fuel to the racially divisive fire.

When Juju continued to clown Bradberry long after the fact, a lot of people had a problem with it.

This

Clarke didn't whine about it or say anything, the media did them Reese ran her mouth and hasn't shut up since. Hope she enjoys her 5 minutes of fame.

Used to be winners would show some class in victory yet today's generation is more about showing each other up to increase their social media presence.😒

Reese trying to say the media is racially motivated is just idiotic, if a white girl followed another white girl around the court after a game taunting her the media would call out that girl as well, female athletes are held to a higher standard of behavior in sports than men, we expect men to fight and jaw and hit each other but seeing women do the same threatens our puritanical sensibilities.🤷‍♂️

If anything the media and public reactions are more sexist than racist...

If it was two white male players or two male black players we would hear very little.

The fact that they're both females plays a bigger part to me than the racist aspect but the media and even Reese took the easy way and focused on the perceived racist overtones instead.

Now it's a generational thing. I guess Bednarik only did it for the instagram likes too.

I think I’m good with discussing women’s basketball for another year or so…

Men up north actually care about women’s basketball? 😂😂😂

You learn something new everyday.

If you watch the interview with Bednarick, he clarified that he had no idea that Gifford was there. He made the play, stood up and fist pumped as he said "this effing game is over!”

Apparently the game had a higher viewership than any NBA game in rain this year.

Personally I didn't watch the game but I might have if I wasn't throwing up all day...🤷‍♂️

He's literally standing over him.

Found the video.. He said initially he didn't know where he was because the ball came loose but then he turned back around while standing over him. You're reaching, bro.

I would have been fine if Bednarik had whipped it out and pissed on Gifford, cause F the Giants

You’d have to think if the Ravens are in on Richardson, Jackson is out with a load of draft picks going to the Ravens, most likely from a top 10 picking team.

I don't think the Ravens have a trading partner to make that deal, certainly not before this coming draft.  Any team could give Jackson an offer sheet today and get him for only two draft picks instead of a boat load.  The Ravens could match the offer sheet, but if Jackson doesn't want to play in Baltimore that would act as a precursor to a trade.  Lamar Jackson's market just isn't robust at all, regardless of what commentators would suggest.  His contract demands further reduces his market -- perhaps eliminates it.

If the Ravens move on from Lamar, I believe the sequence would be draft Richardson (if possible, or even Hooker), then proceed full-on into sign-and-trade mode with another team to recoup the picks, or more.  Ravens would give Lamar (informally) the ability to negotiate a long term deal with a new team to facilitate a trade.

At some point, Lamar has to either sign a contract with the Ravens or hire an agent.
