Haha, it is bizarre that he hasn't signed somewhere yet.

Can't imagine there being any reset in the safety market. He's going to be scraping the barrel wherever he signs. Hopefully here.

Johnson, Edmunds, Blankenship, Rookie is decent enough to contend.

The Bates contract seems absurdly high in retrospect based on how the safety market panned out.

Dickerson played and Kelce played.  Mills also played as a rookie.

No, I mean TDN was promising for months to deliver a new mock machine... aesthetically, it doesn't seem like an improvement over the prior free version.

Brian Branch at 30 would be sweet. I don't expect them to take a S until round two or three though. Antonio Johnson seems like the type of guy they would like since he can also cover the slot.

I understand the sentiment of getting over the top, but it's also tough staying at the top.  You get Robinson at the expense of addressing a defense which is leaking oil or shoring-up an aging OL with questionable depth - basically the signature elements that got the team into contender status.

Let's look big picture here.  Over the next 2 years, the Eagles have what appears to be 18 draft picks, only 6 this year and the 12 of those being next year.  Howie can trade down and add more, but as of right now, I'm looking at it as 6 picks.  In past drafts where the Eagles have had huge gaps between rounds, Howie hasn't jumped at adding those picks.

Robinson is a generational talent, a guy everyone thinks is going to be a stud.  The only knock people have against him is that he plays RB.  Now, there is no guarantee that he becomes that HOF back he's being touted as but adding him to the Eagles puts him in absolutely the best position to be great.  He's almost a sure thing to be an impact player.  Robinson, if he is what we think he, is should easily surpass anything Miles Sanders did for this team.  Let's assume at the very least the Eagles get 5 years out of him at 2022 Miles Sanders production.  With pick 10, the Eagles would be getting 6,345 yards and 55 TDs.  That would put him 400 yards shy of Shady's Eagles rushing record and 11 more TDs that he had during his career.  Robinson just turned 21.

Are there any other players at pick 10 that have the potential to be the impact player Robinson is looking to be?  If they go DL, they are looking at a player who at most is playing 60% of the snaps even when he starts in a year.  If they go OL or CB, they are picking a player who very well could sit for 2 years.  Would you rather draft a RB and get a full 5 years of potential Eagles HOF #'s or would you want to draft a position where that player is on the bench for 2 years out of his 5 year contract.  We wouldn't even know what those players could be until year 3.

Next years DL class is looking to be deep.  I look at a guy like Jared Verse at DE or Leonard Taylor at DT as guys who would be at the top of this years draft class.  With those 12 picks, Howie is going to be able to move up and down as he pleases.  There are plenty of plenty of Lukas Van Ness or Myles Murphy type of players every year.  There aren't Bijan Robinson type players every year.

The Eagles aren't going to find themselves at pick 10 very often.  RB like Robinson don't come around very often either.  Again, the only knock against Robinson is the position he plays but I'm talking myself in to not caring about that anymore.  Give me a game changer from day 1 through the very end of his contract rather than a guy who might not even play almost half of his contract.

seems to me that Florida Offense is what the Eagles should be looking at.  Because Eagles OC Brian Johnson was Florida Gators OC in 2020.   I assume that he's been asked "do you want"?

Anthony Richardson

O'Cyrus Torrence

Justin Shorter (tall WR day 3)

Justin Shorter is a Tall WR?  How has no one made a joke about that?  Does he play big or small at the position before his size?

Duffy is impressed with Gerravious (sp?) Owens out of Houston as a mid-round guy.

For better or worse, a rookie safety wouldn’t have to play. We have warm bodies at the position.

When has going for that RB ever worked out for a team?

Give me a top RB that's guaranteed not to get hurt for 5-years, and I might be sold.

The premise is that good teams rarely have the opportunity to take top-10/elite RB prospects - so we are in uncharted territory,

Was curious to do it so I took some time and went and ranked all of the starting QBs as of April.  Of course some draft picks will replace some of these starters but as of today this is how I rank them:

1. Mahomes
2. Hurts
3. Burrow
4. Allen
5. Herbert
6. Jackson
7. Rodgers
8. Tua
9. Prescott
10. Lawrence
11. Goff
12. Cousins
13. Geno
14. Purdy
15. Jimmy G
16. Murray
17. Daniel Jones
18. Fields
19. Carr
20. Minshew
21. Pickett
22. Watson
23. Stafford
24. Brissett
25. Mac Jones
26. Love
27. Ridder
28. Tannehill
29. Dalton
30. Russell Wilson
31. Mayfield
32. Mills

Give me any prospect that's guaranteed not to get hurt.

BG tore his ACL in year 2.

Derek Barnett missed 9 games in year 2 with his rotator cuff and his ACL tear last year.

Carson Wentz tore his ACL in year 2, then the back and concussion issues.

Andre Dillard missed his entire 2nd season with the torn bicep.  Started a whopping 9 games over 5 years (not injury related).

Jordan Davis missed 4 games last year.

Probably far more on the worse end of that spectrum. I'm not sure what safety they have right now who can play single high or even be adequate in tandem in cover 2. That isn't Edmunds, Blankenship, or Wallace so they'd be counting on Evans to stay healthy and play well or that's a potentially big issue. I don't think they are done at S.

Read Zach Berman’s depth chart article and he shows Marquis Blair as a back of the roster S.  I recall that the outlier reporters said something bout him signing a futures contract but the Eagles never showed that on PE.com nor on the roster.  I do know they signed Tristin McCollum, who Zach lists as a CB. The Eagles list him as a DB.  In college he mainly played S.  His twin brother is a CB. Anyone else recall Blair being an Eagle?

Zach lists Bradley as backing up Morrow and Elliss backing up Dean.  He’s basically showing a 5/2/4 schematic in the depth chart.  He basically lists Davis as a NT but has Wilson backing him up and Marlon T backing up Cox. That seems backwards. Speaking of Wilson, he has been a disappointment considering all the talent he suggested coming out of high school.

What’s real interesting is all the OL they signed to futures.  Several of whom have NFL experience.  Opeta, Williams, Good Jones, both Johnsons, Robinson, Tom and Toth. That and Driscoll are the current depth. I expect that to change.

I am not a fan of the RB at 10 type pick but to be fair, it is rare air indeed to add one of this caliber to an offense of this caliber.

I still think John Johnson makes way too much sense and i can’t imagine he’s costing much with how the market is going lately

Not ever - The Browns won a Championship in 1955.  They drafted Jim Brown in 56 and didn't win another until 1964.

A top RB isn't going to substantially improve the offense.  Insuring O-line depth with a higher pick is a better bet.

Feels like the Eagles have someone in mind in the draft or via trade or they just plan on going into the season spending the absolute bare minimum at safety because they want to maximize every available dollar elsewhere.

I think if they wanted another free agent, they'd have signed them by now.

I see that it was a mistake to engage with you. I apologize to one and all and promise not to do it again.

You weren't here when he wanted to have Mailata play FB and have Hurts as his lead blocker at the goalline.  Great stuff from him.

I think Howie will probably wait until training camp and trade a pick from 2024.  I also am not sure what safety would be available that would warrant a first round pick.  The Chargers just signed Derwin James to an extension last year.  Maybe they could target Antoine Winfield Jr.  He played more slot CB, I think, for the Bucs.  I can't imagine they wouldn't want to hold onto him unless they just want to rebuild the team.

Kevin Byard feels like the guy that will be out there forever and eventually end up here like Bradberry last year and Steven Nelson the year before.

I'm not saying Rookies can't or don't play. Just that Howie doesn't usually bank on them as first options, especially if the position is as important as HonestNFL bro is making it out to be.

Kelce was a 6th round rookie and earned his job, but he still had Jamal Jackson here who entered camp as the starter. Mills was a 7th round pick, and was in a right place right time in that we were rebuilding, but we still started out with Nolan Carroll and Leodis McKelvin as the starters, they just sucked. Dickerson was actually a high pick but he only played because of injuries. Had Brooks and Seumalo not gotten season ending injuries Weeks 2 and 3, he wouldn't have played.
