Give me one of Wilson, Johnson Jr, Gonzalez, or Witherspoon at 10. If none are there, I’d imagine a QB would have fallen and the Eagles could get a decent haul to trade down. I would draft Branch at 30, but think there will still be good safeties on the board in the 2nd.

Drafting safety round 1 in a year when there really aren’t any exciting prospects at the position is the very definition of drafting for need.

BS, Branch would be a great pick at 30 both value wise and for need.

Paul Hornung, Franco Harris, Sweetness, Emmmmitt; Jamaal Lewis might be an example of ‘pushed over the top’ RB selection - it happens, but not recently.

I think Larry Csonka was a top ten pick too.

I still think John Johnson makes way too much sense and i can’t imagine he’s costing much with how the market is going lately

It is strange that he hasn't signed yet. It's also kind of strange that McLeod hasn't because he had a really good season in Indy. I would imagine they will wait until after the draft and see where they are at. They also might be waiting on Byard to get released at some point and bring him in like they did with Bradberry last year. There has to be another shoe to drop though at some point because right now they don't really have a coverage safety and if they are planning to play a lot of cover 2 they need at least one guy who is good at playing deep.

Other than what the Eagles do (obviously) the most interesting thing for me with the draft is seeing if/how far Jalen Carter goes, and where Bijan Robinson goes. I don't think Carter makes it past Seattle and I think Robinson is going to slide more than people realize. I'm thinking somewhere in the 20's, teams just don't value RB's in today's pass happy NFL the way they used to.

Part of me wonders if McLeod and Johnson are also waiting until after the draft to see what teams address safety so they’ll see the most snaps and play. And maybe teams more desperate for them as they missed out. I could also see some teams reaching out to them saying they’ll be in touch after the draft.

Yeah if I were them I wouldn't sign with the draft three weeks away. Might as well just wait and see if a team really needs a S after the draft which gives the players a bit more leverage and definitely a better opportunity for playing time.

Yeah that’s my line of thinking. Frankly i don’t see the eagles going safety with their top 3 picks. There’s a chance but I tend to see DL, OL, CB in some order. but I’d still be surprised if Blankenship/rookie and Edmund were starting week 1.

I think Dawk is generally underrated by the national media, there were basically 4 guys during Dawks era. Him Reed Lynch and Polomolu and it drives me nuts when national pundits gush over Polomolu, Dawk has better stats in every category and unlike Polomolu was rarely hurt.

I think Polomolu was a great player I think he's also over rated.

Im fine with arguing if Dawk or reed were better most will say Reed and I can see that but I'll always stick up for Dawk, he was a special dude and player

No one other than bucs fans would make the argument that lynch is better than any of them...

Troy is the most overrated player in NFL history IMO, possible hyperbole, but the dude was a complete liability on the field.  He had his flashy plays, but outside of that he was constantly free lancing and out of position.  Not to mention he was hurt half his career.  It's that Steelers aura...I know he spent time with the Rams...but the Bus is mainly remembered for his time in Pitt.  Bettis belongs in the hall of just ok, made it his 2nd time to the HOF if I remember correctly.  In no way was Troy's overall play a 1st ballot type.

I think they will take a S in the 2nd or 3rd round. It's a need both in the short and long term and there are some good safeties that will go in that range (Johnson, Brown, the other Brown, Smith, Robinson, etc)

I would prefer the second round cause i like some of the guys around there and don’t want to risk hoping one falls to 94. I’d really like to trade back from 30 and get some extra midround picks that will help in maneuver around in the third and possibly from 62 if we really like someone.

I am 100% with you. I think trading from 30 is the play to make. I am not at all opposed to moving down to the mid 40's which should net them a 3rd and 5th round pick based on the value chart. As you said, that would be a prime area to get one of the top safeties in the draft after Branch.

Totally agree, about the Bus and Troy.

At least Dawk is in the HOF👍

Justin Shorter is a Tall WR?  How has no one made a joke about that?  Does he play big or small at the position before his size?

Pretty similar to Mike Evans,  size and RAS wise.

He's a day 3 pick so I'd assume he isn't amazing.

ras compare with calcaterra at TE

Polomolu was great, people. It’s okay to admit it.

We could've had Dawk, Troy and Urlacher on this defense at the same time.

So listening to fran Duffy on BWF with bo Wulf,  they talked about all the possibilities of who is going to be there at 10 and the prospects in that area. It’s a great listen if you haven’t. Actually one of Bo’s better podcasts. Additionally touched on how it might not be a great year to have the 10th pick as opposed to other years and why that may lead to more active trade market and some guys you wouldn’t expect going 8-17.

But when Fran talked about the offensive  linemen at 10 I thought it was very interesting that they brought up Howie Roseman in the interview with Jason Kelce saying that Jeff stoutland says just give him a guy that has the tools he can do everything else to get him to the level that they need to be at. So if skoronski, Paris johnson and jones are all on the board at 10 it’s extremely interesting cause they all have tools. But after listening to Fran talk about Paris Johnson, it seems like the guy I think the Eagles would take. It came off to me that was the guy he was most excited about. He has a massive wingspan, length and size to him. But the way fran discussed his athleticism, size and tools goes with that makes me think that’s the one they’d go with

Bo is actually good when he sticks to talking football. The problem is the dude thinks he is some sort of comedian or something. Birds with friends is hard to watch sometimes because he constantly hi-jacks conversations with cringe worthy humor.

Jones has both punt and kick return experience.

He appears to have fallen off a cliff in the 2022 season after being very good in prior seasons as a Punt Returner

I'm not saying Polamalu was better than Dawk but this is a bit much and I think if they switched teams you wouldn't be saying this.

In my book the goat for the eagles during my lifetime was Reggie. It's a shame we had the owner that we did or he would have been here for his whole career. The other shame is that gap toothed moron has the sack record and not him.

I would argue that Skoronski does not have the tools, particularly for OT. The other two, yes.
