Polamalu was overrated.  He was a splash player, but not a truly great one, certainly not the generational type that he was portrayed to be.

Dawkins outproduced Polamalu at every level.  Ints, Forced fumbles, Fumble recoveries, sacks, and tackles.   Polamalu would play outside the system and take chances and sometimes make a play, but not at the level that people would celebrate him.

No, I used a single play as an example of him free lancing and taking himself out of position.  Polamalu wasn't that special.  HoF... probably... certainly not first ballot.  He wasn't as good as Leroy Butler, and it took him over a decade to get into the HoF.

Is Polamalu not a 1st ballot HOFer? If memory serves, he was inducted in 2020, his first year of eligibility.

Polamalu is pretty close in all stats to Dawkins and played 4 fewer years.  His top seasons all featured better stats, he won a DPOY award, and has a ring.

On paper, he’s more successful than Dawkins.

I hated TP but he was one of those players you know we would have loved as an Eagle.  

The stats where Dawkins is significantly better are sacks and FF.   Dawk had 26 sacks and 36 FF compared to TP with 12 sacks and 14 FF, but again like you said he played 4 more years.

Fran Duffy and Cosell broke down Sidney Brown and Cosell mentioned that he wasn’t a very good tackler. Then Fran nacked that up, saying he had a missed tackle percentage of 16 percent, which was actually the best of his career. Comparatively, Branch had a missed tackle percentage of 2 percent.

I wonder where Hurts ends up on that NFL Top 100 list as voted on by the NFL players this year.  Highest ever was Wentz at #3 in 2017.  Obviously Mahomes is going to get #1.  I think Hurts has a real good chance to get that #2 spot.  I think it'd likely be between him, Burrow and Justin Jefferson.

Plus Troy was injured quite a bit and Dawk rarely was
