We got exactly what I expected from Davis last year as a rookie.  When he was first injured, the suggestion was a high ankle sprain and there was speculation from a few beats that he might be shut down for the year but he battled back and got mentored by four long term All Pro/Pro Bowl level veterans.  The getting back quickly and probably playing through his ankle suggests good work attitude as did his athletic performance at the combine.  I think we will be pleased by what we see this year.  Carter was a one year starter because the UGA DTs from the year before kept him from starting.  Completely different players.

Frankly, my concern about Carter is that he is more a Marvin Wilson (another high recruit out of HS) than a Jordan Davis.

My hope is that Noah Elliss has his brother’s tenacity and learned something sitting in meetings last year.

Marlon T., pre injury last year looked like a completely different player and frankly, at the end of the year, I thought Milton Williams was outplaying Hargrave.  Could have been fresh legs though.

My hope for Davis in year 2 is that mentally, he realizes what he can be.  I don't think he has a clue as to what he can physically do and how to translate that to dominating on the football field on a consistent basis.  He had a few matchup wins as a rookie but few and far between when he was healthy.  I'd love for him to stay on the hip of BG and Mailata as much as he can.   Learn from BG how he goes from happy go lucky to a trash talking maniac on Sundays and learn from Mailata how to use his freakish size to just bully guys every play.  Would be nice if some of Suh's nastisness rubbed off on him too.

The way the Eagles rotate their DL, Carter should be fresh more often than not and he should be able to really take advantage of that.

They need to set up a limbo pole and have Davis practice coming out of his stance without knocking the thing over. That’s his single biggest issue right now.

Sirvocea Dennis is a very underrated player , playmaker who can cover / play the run and get after the QB ,real  good athlete too

Tbh i don’t even think he makes it to the eagles. I see Pete Carroll and seattle saying F it and taking him. They need defensive players badly and i don’t see seattle firing Carroll if he takes him and he doesn’t pan out. Unless an Qb falls that seattle loves or cards trade out of 3 and 4 QBs go in a row, i tend to think he lands there. Also don’t think he would get past atlanta. I think atlanta last offseason showed they’d deal with questionable character like Deshaun watson as if it weren’t for the fully guaranteed contract he’d be a falcon right now. The way i think the eagles would acquire him is in a trade up. I don’t see them doing that for a guy who’s got a ton of issues surrounding him. I could be wrong and he falls to 10 but i just think seattle and atlanta take him before us

A lot of talk going around about the Lions grabbing Carter at #6 as well.  I didn't take Campbell's comments on him as disqualifying at all.

I don’t think they are out here. I could see them do it too. Been rumors they might also take a Qb at 6 if one falls. Been rumors connecting them with Richardson. Not sure how true they are. I don’t blame them if they loved a Qb and he falls cause odds are lions are good enough where they likely aren’t picking top 10 next year or year after unless Goff is terrible

Goff has been very good for the Lions, 48 TD and 15 INT the past two seasons.  He's 28 and under contract for two more seasons at $31M per season -- actually looks not bad compared to current QB contracts.  IMO it'd be two steps back for their franchise to force a Levis or Richardson pick when those two are overwhelmingly likely to bust.

@just relax

This is a crappy draft for OT.  Thus I have been looking at multiple position players or Gs with T experience.  Want athleticism with trait issues that Stout can develop but with some level of experience so they can play RG next year when I anticipate Kelce retires.  A few I would like your opinion about for such development.

Anthony Bradford, LSU Basically size wise a JP clone but not as fast but close enough.  Some versatility and decent move for his size (which needs to be converted to NFL weight). Got some push.

Jordan McFadden, a bit short but decent speed and arm size.  Lower body a bit like Driscoll and played OT, left and right. Not sure Stout can teach junk in the trunk, but much like Driscoll, this guy shows decent technique.

Jon Gaines, UCLA. Kid is quick and should be decent at pulling.  Versatile in positions he has played.  Needs technique work and some strength. Kind of a raw Issac Seumalo type from college.  Frame should support some weight gain.

JSN did workout.  He participated in agility drills only because he has agility.  Skipped all the speed and explosion drills, because he has no speed nor explosion.

Addison has excellent tape both inside and outside; he'd be the best choice at WR IMO -- but I still wouldn't take him at #30; it would need to be a trade down.

Addison is just too small to be that slow and still get taken in round 1.

His splits last year and 2021 were ridiculous. He’s great at home and bad on the road.

2022:

home: 23tds, 3 ints, 0 fumbles lost and 109 rating

road: 6 tds, 4 ints, 4 fumbles lost and 87 rating

2021:

home: 13 tds, 3ints, 2fumbles lost and 99 Qb rating

away: 6 tds, 5ints, 4 fumbles lost and 80 rating

In 2022 the lions at home averaged 33.1 ppg. On the road 19.4 ppg. In 2021 was 22.1 at home and 16.4 on the road.

It’s not a new problem for Goff, he’s been lousy in the road since 2019

i don’t love either of those guys but if the lions evaluations and scouting turns out that they do then they should. They are likely not picking that high again and they’d love the Qb. If they don’t love them then I’m 100% with you.

Some interesting stuff here. This snippet ties directly into something I posted the other day about Seattle and Jalen Carter.

At No. 5, we know two things: The Seahawks have done all the outward work that a team would do before it takes a quarterback, and GM John Schneider is always open for business when it comes to trading down. And if the Seahawks stick, there are a number of high-end havoc wreakers who could fall in their lap. Maybe Anderson, maybe Texas Tech’s Tyree Wilson or, intriguingly, Georgia’s Jalen Carter.

Also says lots of questions about the OL prospects in this draft.

Says teams have Witherspoon and Gonzalez a full tier above the other CBs in this class.

He says he believes it's pointing towards Bryce Young going #1 to Carolina.

I'll have to put myself on a timer to count the number of minutes I'll laugh if the Panthers are dumb enough to use the #1 overall draft pick (that they traded up for) for a 5'10, 190-pound QB.

I like this 3 round mock. The trade looks good too, picking up another 1st next year without losing one this year.

Branch at 19 is okay.  I would much rather have Banks.  Ojulari is also okay .,. at 63, but a reach at 30.  I don’t want Charbonnet at all.  The more I have learned about him the less I like him. High floor and low ceiling.  There are so many really good backs in this Draft.  Taking Charbonnet in the Second Round is squandering a valuable resource.  I like Hodges-Tomlinson.  I have him in my Mock below, but not until the Fourth Round.

Both of his brothers. Kaden Elliss was tenacious and productive as a Saint, and as a result picked up a nice Free Agent contract.

Howie never met a trade he didn’t like.

Are there any players in it that you don’t like?

I don't see the Eagles ever seeing safety as BPA in the 1st round, especially BPA based off of their positional value chart.  Much rather would have Sydney Brown in the 2nd.

Glad to see others not on the Charbonnet bandwagon.  I see the RB class this year as Robinson is the clear cut #1.  Gibbs is #1A based on how dynamic and electric he is.  Both are going to be very good players and potentially both go in the 1st.  After those two, I think there's a big lump of RBs that will be 2nd-4th rounders.  I have Charbonnet in that group along with guys like Sean Tucker, Tank Bigsby, Tyjae Spears, Devon Achane, Kendre Miller along with a few others.  Each brings something different to the table.  I think some can go on to be NFL starters and others like Achane are going to be more role players.

They either go against the grain and take Robinson at 10 or they get a guy in the 3rd or 4th (if they can get some other picks).

@LeanMeanGM here’s a wild question for you:

Even though every team is free to sign Lamar Jackson, he’s not TECHNICALLY a free agent as you have to immediately trade assets for him. So does he qualify as a free agent pickup or a trade?

why I ask is would he affect a team’s comp pick formula? You’re effectively trading for his franchise tag rights when you offer him a deal that Baltimore must refuse.

My guess would be no. They changed the rule at some point to disqualify transition tagged players from counting towards the formula so I assume the same would be for franchise tagged players.

I'm not necessarily advocating for Charbonnet at #62, but he's slotting right into that late 2nd round pocket where the Eagles like to take their RB prospect, McCoy and Sanders both being late 2nd round picks.

They did find Gainwell in the 5h round, so maybe that's shaped their thinking somewhat at the position moving forward.

If he has a HOF career, they’ll erect a statue of him one day.

I get your train of thought with that. I don't think Charbonnet is on the same level of Shady or Sanders though.  I look at Charbonnet and I think of Josh Adams.
