We don't *need* an elite running game, though - teams like Buffalo and Cincinnati do.  Our offense relies on Hurts and the offensive line.

If we're looking to ramp this offense up over last season, a productive WR3 or a productive TE2 is what we need to be looking at.

I'm not saying he wasn't a great player.  He can be both a great player and overrated, at the same time, they are not mutually exclusive.  Hall of Fame - Yes.  First ballot - No.   And that's why I consider him overrated.  Of the trio, Dawkins, Reed and Polamalu, he was third on that list to me.    Dawkins could have been a first ballot guy, and I wouldn't have blinked at it, but also didn't blink when he wasn't.  But, if Dawkins wasn't, Polamalu wasn't.  But, he played for Pittsburgh, had the hair and the Stillers won a Super Bowl while he was there, so he gets bumped up higher than his talent would permit.

But, please don't think that I'm saying he wasn't a great player.  He was.  But, I just don't think he was as great as he is portrayed by many.

Troy played more Rover Back than FS or SS.  Strictly from a Rover Back perspective, who played it better?  (Eagles play some Rover Back when they play 3 Ss.)

Definitely, even the games that are not likely to get primetime, Eagles-Jets, Eagles-Patriots, other Eagles-Cowboys or Eagles-Vikings will be the national game on a Fox afternoon slate or a CBS late game money maker. We have a crazy good schedule this year for ratings

Could be different this year though.  Aren't Fox and CBS dropping being NFC and AFC specific?

This isn't true. None of our backs have great vision. He also would immediately be our best short-yardage back. Hell, he's probably the best receiving back on day 1 too.

Sanders' vision improved this past season, and with Hurts and the OL they didn't need to have great vision anyway. The blocking and scheme was so effective. I think in some instances he would've gotten more out of some plays, but the overall impact and difference would've been much less than people think.

trading that 30th pick. i like it.

What LB in this draft do you think matches up best with Nakobe ?  I think this position needs to be addressed in 1st or 2nd round (I know not our normal style).  I really like Captain Jack and Trenton Simpson.

Look how Simpson compared athletically to Nolan Smith

Nolan Smith -   6 foot 2 238 pounds.  4.39 40 with 1.52 split.  41.5 inch vert  32 5/8 arms and 9 inch hands

Trenton Simpson - 6 foot 2 235 pounds.  4.43 40 with 1.55 split.   40.5 inch vert .  32 3/8 arms, 10 1/4 hands and 4.25 shuttle and 25 reps on the bench

Not sure how this changes the top 10 if at all.

Overall, it increases the likelihood of Detroit going CB and reduces Atlanta's. So not much from a high-level view of the first 9 picks.

The Eagles ran for 87 yards on 29 carries against the Cowboys and 67 yards against the Saints.

The problem is if Hurts misses a few games we don’t have a running game to rely on. It’s a big reason we lost those 2 games.

I’d say it increases the likelihood of a CB falling to 10 because both Atlanta and Detroit were popular slots for Gonzalez and Witherspoon. Detroit was done with Okudah while Atlanta can talk itself into giving him a year as a starter to see what they have.

Yeah I don't get the non love for Robinson. He's an absolute stud and would greatly enhance our offense overall and obviously the run game. He could just take over a game if necessary. He is better than previous first rounders such as Saquan and Fournette. I think he is being scoffed at due to the positional value and the fact we have a elite o-line. But Bijan is elite as well and no one on our team comes close to what he would provide, plus the fact he is excellent in the pass game. I do love Gibbs and his potential here too but Bijan is in his own league.

Miles Sanders got benched in the Super Bowl.

He was by far the worst offensive player and might have been the worst Eagle period.

Will Hurts distribute the ball enough for a productive WR3 or TE2 to matter? Maybe if he takes another step forward, but I think where we're at now, a better RB (whether that's RBBC or a better starter) room helps that more. I think it would allow the read option game to be even more of an issue. I think towards the end of the season, teams were fine with letting a rb get a 5 yard game and they just focused on Hurts, like we do with opposing read option QBs. Trust the LBs and Safeties to limit the RB and just go after the QB. If you have a real game changer at RB, that becomes a bit more deadly of a choice. I am not advocating for Bijan or anything, I just don't know if there is enough balls to go around to them after AJ, DeVonta, and Dallas. We could definitely improve on Quez. Or do we think we start moving away from read option and move towards something where Jalen's runs are more a trend breaker?

If Bijan Robinson is on the board at #25 Howie will trade up from 30 to keep him away from Dallas

Yes I agree there. I really don't have a feel for where he goes yet besides the obvious like Buffalo.

I think he'll be on the board a bit longer than people think.  Somewhere between 18-24 makes a lot of sense for those teams in that range.  Possibly HOU at #12 with their second 1st round pick ....

Because they loaded up the box against Minshew and he tanked it.  That's on the QB, not the running game.

While it's great that we have three top-end talents at WR and TE, the problem (as we saw) is that the entire offense lagged way too much when Goedert was hurt.  We tried to lean on Quez, which didn't work, and Stoll did get more involved but not nearly enough to be a factor.

Distribution of the ball isn't the problem so much as we can't allow the offense to be affected so much because one player (besides Hurts) goes down.  We have more than enough capable bodies at RB.  But outside of Smith/Brown/Goedert, we don't have much of anything to speak of.

What we should be doing is involving the RB's a lot more in the passing game.  Open them up, get another playmaker at WR or TE, and whatever problems Robinson would solve is already solved in terms of the X's and O's.  All without having to spend a first-round pick.

Devin White for a 1 year rental?

Only due $11.7 million this year

Wonder what the asking price is

I'm not leaning that way if I'm Houston. Pearce is pretty nice and they need to rebuild the team.

If he's willing to play in the last year of his deal without being extended like Chauncey then we have a shot.  Probably get a 3rd round comp in 2025

I just bought it. I'm already a YouTube TV subscriber, and I live in California. I have also been playing FF for decades. Last year, it was mostly best ball and I had about 150 teams.

I currently pay $11/month for the Sports Plus (only for the Red Zone, really), so I canceled that and bought the combo for $289. Considering I canceled the $132 Sports Plus, this only adds $157 for the year.

The Super Bowl is a one game sample. It was an anomaly. People are basing way too much of what they want the Eagles to do this offseason based on that one game sample. It's pure recency bias, nothing more. Gotta go by the larger sample here.

Because its the lowest value position in the offense
