The problem is everyone is assuming jurgens just plays well at guard. I trust stoutland but that doesn’t mean jurgens doesn’t get hurt or struggles. Even seumalo took to year 3 to get to where he could be a starter. I tend to think i rather be secure with a really good swing tackle and potential starter at RG because your oline has a weak link it’ll catch up to you. And our main backup right now is Driscoll who never stays healthy.

again this is all on the hypothetical that stoutland loves one of those 3 OL

And It’s not even about Jurgens in 2023. You can’t draft for that year, otherwise you’re saying if Bijan doesn’t come out of the gate gangbusters then the pick was a mistake. You draft for the future, the duration of the contract. We need at least 1 starting guard by 2024, maybe 2025

(Also on the hypothetical he’s in play at 10, which we may very well be not interested. Not arguing for the player, just the argument that’s being had)

Texans can take Anderson then give us 12 and 65 for 10 to take a QB.

So… you admit that sanders "crumbling” contributed to the loss…but don’t see the virtue in adding a better back….

ok

Contributed to what degree, though?

The Chiefs won the game in the trenches on both sides of the ball (the field being a factor, of course).  The Eagles RBs averaged 2.6 yards per carry, 45 yards on 17 carries.  The Chiefs RBs averaged 5.7 yards per carry, 114 yards on 20 carries.  Why was that?

Better RBs?  Shouldn't be.  Pacheco was a 7th round pick, McKinnon 3rd.  Sanders was drafted higher than both

Better OL?  Chiefs have a really good OL but it should have been at least kept in check by the Eagles' DL -- and the Eagles OL is recognized as one of the best in its own right

Better footwear?  Undoubtedly, but the significance it had on the game will always be in debate.

Sanders gaining 16 yards on 7 carries and very nearly fumbling a pass away for a TD is largely on Sanders, but not entirely.  Not sure the argument that Robinson could have made the difference between winning and losing that game is worth the 10th overall draft pick.

Makes more sense than Tyree Wilson.

I just see a lot of red herrings being thrown up in this debate. The idea that rushing isn’t important to our attack is wrong. If anything the RB performance in the Super Bowl is a cry for help.

Skoronski snub.

Mostly everyone mocked to Eagles won't be there.

I'm gonna guess Zay Flowers is the guy still sitting when the evening is over.

I could see the Texans saying F it and just rolling into the season with what they have. Maybe tanking for Caleb taking place

I think the Texans will be "in luck".  CAR will draft Stroud #1 and allow the Texans to languish for another 4-5 years at the bottom with their 190-lb QB of choice at #2

Keion White and Branch probably will have to come back for Friday too.

I think their deficiency in defending the run was the cry for help.  It was a problem all season and a problem again in the Super Bowl.

The Eagles can find a really good RB in Round 2 or 3 if they choose to.  Bijan isn't the last train leaving the station.  The Eagles have adopted a defensive philosophy of defending the pass, not allowing any big plays over the top, and keeping the opposing offense in front of them.  No defense can defend everything, and OC's will target wherever your deficiency is.

For years the Eagles deficiency on defense was named Jalen Mills, and Leodis McKelvin before him (Nolan Carroll, too).  Teams attacked the Eagles defense at the CB position where they were vulnerable.  Now IMO the Eagles' deficiency is run defense and LB play.  They believe by stocking up on DL pass rush and paying CBs that the LBs can be shielded.  No defense can shield everything; it's a matter of where you choose to leave yourself vulnerable.  The Eagles got to the Super Bowl with that philosophy so it's hard to argue against it.

I think the Eagles would be a more improved team by finding a stud LB in Round 2 than finding a stud RB in Round 1

Strange that Skoronski and Van Ness weren't invited. Addison and Flowers are going to be waiting a long time, and possibly Bijan too. Joey Porter JR is another strange one to invite. Keion White might not even go in the 30's.

They might have been invited and declined.

There's a few noticeable missing. I'm sure some declined as well.

I declined to watch the board meltdown that Thursday instead

But even ignoring financial impact, just reliability of available players, the point of guard vs replacement or rb vs replacement then becomes primary. Not just which position is more valuable, but which individual person is. It is far easier to replace pro bowl caliber RB play than pro bowl caliber guard play.

It’s not the overall talent we’re getting at 10, but the improvement over what could be had otherwise.

In the context of who to take at 10, yea you're better off with a guard (tbh, I don't want either at 10) but again, I interpreted the question more literally rather than in the context of who we should draft 10th overall.

By the way, I can't wait until the draft comes just so I don't have to listen to idiots say the Eagles might and/or should take Bijan Robinson at 10.

Little bit of a hot take here but I can see possibly Jalen Carter and Anthony Richardson joining him still sitting by the end of the night.

I've watched so many RB stuff and I can't get Spears to fall down my list. He's just so damn explosive.

Him and Duece the 2 most fun to watch

I think Carolina was going to take Stroud and heard Chris Simms say Stroud is the best QB in this draft by alot and they said........on second thought we'll take Bryce Young.

I think Young is the best QB in this draft and Carolina would be making the right pick taking him.  He might be small but he still makes plays inside and outside the pocket.  He's just going to have to protect himself from taking too many hits.

I hear you, I think we may just be in agree to disagree territory. Nolan is going to be the run stuffer?  Just don’t see it.

imagine missing on a reach OL at ten and having Dallas trade up and snag bijan and he lights it up. A lot of the appeal of bijan, to me, is the safety. He’s the can’t miss guy at 10 in my view.

I think few people would argue that Young isn’t the best football player amongst the QBs… it’s just whether or not you buy into the size issue

He and the slim reaper WRs aren’t getting lit up like they used to - he’ll be ok.
