We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

Not that i think skoronski is Shawn andrews but the eagles when they drafted andrews, he rarely played guard (i can’t remember if he ever did) at Arkansas and was coming off 2002 and 2003 all American at tackle. They moved him to guard cause they had Thomas and runyan. Let me also point out there were a lot of angry eagles fans with that pick. I remember being on the board when that pick happened and everybody lost their mind because they wanted Steven Jackson.

I actually was one of the only ones who didn't hate the pick at all, I actually thought it was ok. But I did want LB DJ Williams and he went 1 pick later.

Good athlete, epically bad tackler.

A Howie special

I just remember everyone being angry it wasn’t Steven jackson. I do remember now someone brought wilfork that some wanted him too.

If Howie can figure it out cap wise, I’m all for it. What would Baker fetch? I’m not sure his trade value. I’d be perfectly fine with giving up our late 2nd for him, not sure Arizona does it though

Howie isn't paying $13M and $14M

Yeah that contract is the real issue. Lots of money there. I’d rather see a Hurts contract today over us trading for Budda.

Given that he's out of guaranteed money, I'm guessing a new contract has to be a part of his reasoning to request a trade too. So I'm not even sure how much of an option it would be even if you just wanted to keep him on his current deal.

Assuming so also. That could drive his trade value down. It’ll be interesting to follow, trading for Budda would make me feel way better about our safety position. I read our cap opens up significantly next year or year after, even with looming Dickerson/Devonta/Hurts extensions, and with being able to add a couple lineman on rookie deals, maybe Howie does it.

Its probably unlikely, but I do think it’s far likelier that Howie pays Budda that money & makes the trade over drafting Bijan at 10

They are taking on OL in first 3 rounds this year. Pretty much guaranteed

Which is fine.  I think we all agree with that.  The question is, how big is the talent gap between Skoronski at 10 or a guy like Mauck/Torrence/Avila in the 2nd/3rd?  Is Skoronski really a top 10 player?  I don't think so at all.  I'd rather Paris Johnson, who has played guard and tackle but I'm even hesitant with him at 10 considering the other guys.  I think Torrence could be a flat out stud and gives Stoutland a player to mold.

That would top Derwin James at $19m a year. Budda ain’t coming to Philly

For Howie, "highest paid" and "safety" don't belong in the same sentence. It's basically gibberish to him. It's like trying to tell a monkey about bitcoin.

Nate Herbig had good feet for is speed and size coming out of Stanford.  Stout refined him for sure but unlike Pryor, Herbig put the work in to develop an NFL body.  Stout isn’t a miracle worker (Warmack), he needs good clay.

Don't disagree with any of this.  I think Herbig is going to be a very good player in Pittsburgh.

For all the talk about it being a bad draft to have the #10 overall pick, it's also a bad draft to pull the trigger on a trade up from #9 to #1.  What an assortment of QB choices:

-- Ohio St. QB

-- 190-pound QB, who stands 5'10

-- Gators QB who threw fewer college passes than any top QB prospect other than Cam Newton

-- I'm not even sure how to describe Will Levis, except Carson Wentz meets Taysom Hill

Dude had a 226 passer rating.

Will Levis reminds me of Anthony Morelli. What you look for in a QB from the neck down.

There's a name from the past wow.

It’s not even the cap really, I just don’t see him ever sinking that much money into S. Just not his MO for team building.

I'm going with no, but I might openly admit that I hate Eli. Not sure what that has to do with T.P.

Because eli very likely is going to be a first ballot hall of famer based on his championships, which is exactly why Polamalu was. And that's wrong.

I don't see Howie ever paying that kind of money for a safety

If only Arizona wasn't so cheap, then they could eat money to facilitate a trade.

13 or 14 with the cap continuing to rise, I thought maybe it could happen. 27 year old all pro safety added to a veteran/talented secondary during a SB window, I didn’t think it was that far fetched. Once I read Schefter’s tweet though about Budda wanting to be highest paid safety, then seeing the highest paid safety’s contract, yeah there’s no way.

If you can't trust a guy with two first names, how are you gonna trust a guy with a religion and an occupation for names?

Boy, Reuben Amaro is painful to listen to.  He can join Kate Scott on the road out.
