Also pretty great for the agent. Not sure what percentage she gets from it or how that all works

Now that he's getting paid a billion dollars, we need to address running back and he needs to stop hanging onto it as much as he does. If Gainwell sucks and Penny goes down, which he will, I don't want Hurts to be a multi million dollar battering ram.

Not in the first round

Reports are only $110 million guaranteed at signing and $126.5 million by year 2 is guaranteed. Interesting...

He's got $10million more fully guaranteed than Josh Allen got, but on a year shorter contract.

$51M/yr with $180M guaranteed is just, um…wow. Highest paid player in NFL history. Congrats to him.

Worst outcome for the team. Lose the SB and cripple the cap over paying him

Agents usually get 2 to 3%. She earned a couple million today likely.

Never said in the first round

Given the move in the cap over the last 2 years, this seems like a fair deal for the team.

I see more and more mocks having Tyree Wilson fall. If there's a big run on QBs early, and both Wilson and Carter fall to 10, who are you picking?

Wonder if they get a bonus or something as well. She's the first black female agent correct? Pretty cool to make a contract that's the top in the NFL for a bit until the others get their deals

Give the agent the splashy number. Maintain optionality for the team to get out if need be

One thing is for certain though. When you pay QBs big money, it makes hitting on draft picks absolutely vital. It's why the idea of taking a RB in the top 10 is asinine. It's going to be difficult to go out and spend huge money, which is what premium positions cost in free agency. The Eagles for some time going forward here will be focusing in on keeping their own. Reddick only signed a 3 year deal so he'll need to be re-signed after 2023, Dickerson, Devonta, etc. And supplementing the rest with draft picks.

But the young core is going to be together for a while. Hurts, Smith, Brown, Goedert, Dickerson, Mailata, Reddick, Davis, Williams, etc.

They also have to look at how their money is currently allocated.  We don't know the annual cap hit of Hurts' extension yet but it's going to be huge.  Having a top paid QB now changes how they handle AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert moving forward.  They have 2 more years of all 3 being affordable.

-2025, AJ Brown is due $26 million and 2026 he's due $41 million.  Are they going to extend him when he's 28 or do they move him before it's too late?

-2025, DeVonta Smith will either get extended at a $100 million level contract like Brown signed, or at the very least, 5th year option of $14 million+ before signing new contract in 2026.

-2024, Dallas Goedert bumps up to $19 million.  $19 million in 2025 too.  He either gets extended or gets traded after this year.  I know people hate my stance on Goedert.

This is why a guy like JSN or one of the elite TE's in this years draft should absolutely be on the table at pick 30 or round 2.  Keep the stable of weapons fully loaded and on rookie deals so when it's time to move on from a player, you have elite talent ready to go. If the Eagles are within striking distance of Marvin Harrison Jr next year, you get him.

This isn't even putting Mailata, Sweat, Dickerson, Williams, Reddick in to consideration.  The Eagles have big money to spend on core pieces of the team.  Hurts contract and keeping this team together is going to be a huge test for Howie.

Agreed. Reddick only signed a 3 year deal, so he will be looking for a new deal after this season.

Probably most of it will go to Lebron

Definitely seems like the team actually got a decent deal, especially with Burrow and Herbert imminent. Can't wait to see the actual structure, but guessing it allows them to move on after 2026 if need be.

I know there has been quite a bit of talk (mostly mocking) about moving guys from their natural position to something else but I really like the idea if we do get Gibbs having him have a big role in the slot.

Much of that is obviously going to be predicated on how they're producing and how they project them to produce going forward. Too early to project that at this point in time. But I suspect generally, Howie likes to keep his youngest guys locked up assuming they stay very productive. It's once they cross 30 where things get murky.

The cap will be going up a lot too don't forget and also a lot of veterans will be coming off the books to negate some of that money too. I think especially on offense Howie is going to want to put as many pieces around Hurts as possible to keep him successful so the contract works out. Which is a big reason why I think they'll look to draft defense. Pay offense and draft defense.

NFL agents are only allowed a max of 3% the last I knew.

This made me laugh. And Jones got $82mm at signing and $105mm guaranteed for only 4 years.

I believe the no trade clause was more to do with him the guy than him the player. After what happened with Wentz, the Eagles don't give those out simply because they like the talent. His leadership and work ethic earned him that no trade clause. He doesn't accept failure and will always work to improve. He's the type of player teammates will work extra hard not to disappoint. Wentz was not that.

He may have also wanted it given the reports they looked to deal him for Wilson last offseason. Easy give by the team, because his contract will be unmovable before all most all of the guarantees run out.

Whoo!  We got Jalen re-signed!!!
