As long as the deal allows us to keep Smith & Dickerson I'm ok with it.

I think theyll keep Smith but probably not extend Brown at the end of his deal.

Hurts will be restructed re-extended before 2026 anyway.

The non-guaranteed portion will be converted and bumped out - so that could be some cap relief.

Yup. Long contracts like that are built to be restructured. Howie has been putting new mechanisms in his deal to convert roster bonuses into signing bonuses without the player's permission too.

All players want that. They get the money in their pocket immediately. How it's allocated to the cap doesn't matter to them at all.

Can Harden ever not beg for a foul??

I’ve seen Stroud comped as a more athletic Jared Goff. That’s actually a pretty good QB and a nice fit for the offense they play. They absolutely should be in the QB market.

Yup. I would add on to what you said when you look at Jared Goff home and away splits over the last four years he is really not good on the road but really good at home. If Goff had that problem for a year maybe even two years I would say you know id say maybe it’s just a coincidence. But his road stats for 3 years are significantly worse.

Id add good chance the lions are not picking this high again for a couple years unless Goff completely falls apart or gets hurt. So if you love one and can move up to get one probably should make the move to do it

Like I said earlier, 2025 is when they have a lot of moves to make in restructures, extensions.  These are just the obvious moves that have to be made over the next 2 years.

Before 2024 season:

-Extend Landon Dickerson.

-Restructure or trade Dallas Goedert. Salary jumps from $million to $19 million in 2024.

-Restructure/extend Josh Sweat.  Salary jumps from $6 million to $18.7 million

-Trade/extend Hasson Reddick.  Salary bumps to $20 million for last year of contract.

Before 2025 season:

-Extend DeVonta Smith.

-Extend Jordan Mailata.

-Trade or extend AJ Brown. Salary jumps from $12 million to $26.5 million in 2025 and $41 million in 2026.

-Extend Cam Jurgens.  Seems early but if he takes over C full time in 2024, he's going to need starting C money before his last year.

1. Carolina- Bryce Young

2. Houston- Will Anderson

3. Arizona- Jalen Carter

4. Indianapolis- CJ Stroud

5. Seattle- Christian Gonzalez

6. Detroit- Devon Witherspoon

7. Las Vegas- Anthony Richardson

8. Atlanta- Tyree Wilson

9. Chicago- Peter Skoronoski

10. Houston-  Will Levis (trade pick 12, 73 and 201 to the Eagles)

I might actually consider trading down again at 12 if that’s how the board shakes out. Because I think the players that are gonna be left from picks 11 to 18 are all graded pretty similarly and you’re not getting a blue chip type talent at that point.

That would be the smart way to play it out

Yep, just responded to another post saying the same thing.  The meat of this draft is the teens-20, which is ironic because the Eagles seemed to always be picking somewhere in those slots, which never had the value when they were there.

Brown is already looking a little slow. I really dont think they should extend him after 2026. He cant afford to lose a step.

Way too early to even project. 2025 is an eternity in the NFL. Gotta see how these guys play and develop.

Cap is gonna jump significantly too soon.

Josh Jacobs?

I don't know but I like him quite a bit. Cook also was rumored as a cut or trade candidate. But would Howie pay these guys ten plus mil a year? I really want Bijan or Bigsby in the draft. I'd also settle for Johnson, Charbonnet or McBride as well.

What do you want the dude to do? Like seriously, he has checked off every box. That was beyond an elite SB performance, you are mad at this point that he is successful.

If those cap numbers through 2026 are accurate, the dead cap after year 4 will be much higher than I’d like.  I actually prefer the Eagles push the cap a bit forward on his deal, or at least make it level through the life of it.  A mobile QB who takes a lot of hits might not age very well, like you said.

Being left with a $50M+ cap hit on a QB who is beaten up is not optimal

They could just see another 3 year window with this young core and are just going to go for it again. Worry about 4 years in 4 years

The Eagles have 50M+ in dead cap for 2023. And more is coming for 2024 with Cox, Kelce and Graham. At least 20M.

That's not a discount. Hurts took a standard deal. One player has a contract longer than 5 or 6 years, and its Mahomes, who is an outlier.

My understanding and I may be wrong - wouldn't be the first time - but my impression of the Mahomes deal is that it's effectively a series of one year deals. There are off ramps for both Mahomes and the Chiefs along the way.

Devin Booker is just as bad. He actually cost the suns a chance to tie that game when Russ blocked him he started complaining to the official instead of paying attention on the play. Cause of that Russ threw it off of him and basically sealed the game

I see Isiah Wynn still sitting around in FA. If he comes cheap I'd bring him in. Let Stout work with him, could compete at RG immediately and be a depth piece.

My suspicion about the consequences of this deal....moving forward (and after the players we have already lost), we can pretty much keep everyone, but we aren't going to be able to go get anyone besides bargain basemen FA's for the next 4 years.

That's *fine*, but that's also how Howie has consistently built winners over the years...FA signings and trade and signs.  Those are going to be off the table now.  It's all draft.

I think that’s going a bit far. We might not be able to shop at the top of the market, but we can probably pick and choose a spot to get a decent FA or two. This is also a reason why it makes all the sense in the world to pick players at premium positions. If you hit on those picks, you save so much money over the life of the contract, and can fill in with quality FAs at less costly positions.

Just listened to Bo Wulf on NFL Radio.  He seems to think the Eagles will pick at 10 and trade down from 30.  He guesses OL will be the first pick

What are the odds Doc makes no adjustment to the double that the nets have and are using on embiid? Cause it’s been about 1.5 games in and none. The sixers shooting lights out in game one isn’t an adjustment to that. the sixers shooting isn’t going to be there every game like tonight so just hoping you make shots isn’t a good counter.

2 years is and isn't an eternity in the NFL.  Players I listed are all core pieces to this team and still in their prime.  It's absolutely important to figure how their contracts fit.  That's not even counting guys like Milton Williams, RT of the future, RB, RG, DE2, LB, CB, S.

Well...this offseason the only additions were inferior players (as measured by cost) at the same position in comparison to the ones that left.  So they had losses and basically zero additions.  So I don't think it's going far to say, moving forward, they'll be able to keep their talent without adding any.  That would be an improvement to this offseason.
