I have a theory after listening to Jimmy Kempski today. He said he had a reason to believe Hurts deal got done before the draft or after but not past June. He didn’t want to go into why or how he knew this but suggested it was "off the record”. He also said after the owners meeting that his "hunch” was OL will be the first pick. I’m thinking Howie got a little loose at the owners meeting party and maybe tipped his hand with some things.

I said earlier today I think there’s another shoe that could potentially drop during the draft. I think there’s potentially player they knew/felt could become available via trade around the draft and they wanted to have hurts numbers/contract done so that they knew the parameters of a contract. I don’t know if it’s like an AJ Brown type player but i wouldn’t be shocked at all if they made that type of move.

i’ve also said for while now it makes sense for multiple reasons. You don’t really know what Jurgens is at right guard. We’re hoping he plays really well. That said they went into year 2 with seumalo starting at right guard and he wasn’t ready yet and had to play wiz. So if that happens, you might get stuck with Driscoll and he doesn’t stay healthy. The Eagles depth on the offensive line is not nearly what it has been in the past. I would add lane Johnson has missed 19 games over the last four years and has missed 25% or more of the games in three of the four seasons. So Driscoll not being the epitome of health doesn’t help if someone else gets hurt along the line or jurgens isn’t playing well.

Who is everyone's favorite OT?

Broderick Jones for me. Seems like the only guy with the potential to be a multi-time pro bowl OT.

if a team is going to trade up to 3 to take a QB they will do it regardless of what Texans do to get their guy and not risk the Colts taking their QB.

Colts could also move up easier to 3 to take their guy if Houston does that. Cardinals move back just 1 and take the guy they were going to take at 3 anyway.

Need a plan to use both of them on the field at the same time.  Sounds like I'm being sarcastic and it would be easy, but it may actually be a bit tricky.

It's very tricky to have a pair of sub-240lb players as full time pass rushers.  You don't want them spending too much time in run support or too much time in coverage.  That's tricky to figure out two wide edge guys simultaneously.

If you have a pair of Reddick twins....who does twin 2 take off the field?  Sweat?  That may be a contain problem squaring off against OTs.  Dean or whoever our other starting LB is?  Then we are asking them to be a read and react off ball LB.

Keep in mind I'm saying this as someone who secretly wants them to draft Nolan Smith.  They just need to be prepared to figure out how to make it work.

Smith is pretty darn good in run support. If we play with Davis and another bigger DT on early downs it should work.

I like Wilson. I just really dislike his 2 lis franc injuries. Would scare me off taking him in the top 5 and probably top 10.

I think the question is, is Wilson really a top 5 pick caliber player or is he only that because this isn't a great draft class outside of QB?

Like, DEs who go in the top 5 are usually really explosive edge rushers. Guys who've had double digit sacks in college.

I think people putting him over Anderson is just GMs overthinking it.

Thats why I want to move up(or down). I think in a "normal" draft, guys like Skoronski, Gonzalez, Murphy, Smith, etc feel like guys who would go in the mid teens. And picking teen caliber players at 10 just makes me feel kinda gross just because this draft kinda blows. Like it would waste that top 10 pick. Either turn it into a blue chip guy or turn it into future assets.

Howie didn’t leak that part of it.

Yup. I think they are really high on Jurgens, even if he’s playing RG but they want to take a guy that can potentially back up every spot besides C as well as be insurance if Jurgens at RG doesn’t work. It’s why I don’t think Skoronski would be the target but maybe a guy like Paris Johnson would be. Skoronski is guy probably limited to G and already polished. Goes against everything Howie said on Kelce’s podcast with the edges they look for in the draft.

But you have Dean in that mox too. Awfully small

Beyond that you need to see more than just initial cap hits. I’d bet Hurts is structured like Brown and Reddick. Option bonuses every year that are already fully guaranteed that pay him while spreading out the cap hits, essentially pre-building restructures every year into the contract. Jones looks like a more traditional or old school contract where the team manually has to restructure him every year.

thought it was very interesting that fran Duffy said that he thought skoronski he could also play center. But i don’t see the eagles taking him unless stoutland believes he can play tackle after lane is done but i don’t see stoutland thinking that with his lack of arm Length.

But when he talked about Paris Johnson, he talked about his positional versatility and just how big and athletic he was. Stoutland can fix the technique stuff and refinement he needs. He needs coaching to get even more out of him and fix some of his technique flaws. But you can’t teach his size, length and athleticism. Imo i think they’d go johnson or jones if it’s OL. I wouldn’t hate skoronski like others would though.

Having two speed rushers on the outside is a good problem to have.  Smith is excellent against the run with insane change of direction.  The other DEs on the roster Sweat, Graham and Barnett are more traditional bigger DEs.

In the end, if we are picking top 10, we need to go for upside.  Paris Johnson (who I think will be picked before) and Smith are 2 of the players on the lines that distinguish themselves with a potential to drop to 10.  Smith just fits in with what Howie is trying to to do in recent drafts.  Hard worker, loves the game and is a physical freak of nature.

Schefter sounds like he doesn't think a QB will go 2 or 3 now. Not great for the Eagles.

Schefter is overrated as hell when it comes to "rumors." He's typically there to report actual breaking news but he is no Woj when it comes to rumors. Just listen to him on his weekly appearance on the 97.5 morning show, he just speculates when it comes to what might happen.

I don’t think you’d play 2-4-5 on early downs, probably 5-1 which keeps Dean clean behind 3 DTs.

This isn’t a great class for QB.  Teams are just desperate because last year wasn’t good for QBs either

I agree it isn't great. I think it's much worse than the 2017, but better than the 2016 class.

If these are the first 9 to go: Young, Stroud, Anderson, Richardson, Levis, Gonzalez, Wilson, Carter, Johnson

And if we don’t have a trade down partner, that leaves the following possible choices at 10:

OL Skoronski

OL Jones

EDGE Smith

EDGE Murphy

CB Witherspoon

DL VanNess

My first choice here is Witherspoon. I love the kid. His play style screams Philly.

After that I’d have to go with Smith. The thought of him and Reddick on the field together is really intriguing.

The only one out of that list that I’d be really disappointed in is VanNess. The OL guys would have the Stout seal of approval which is good enough for me.

Hasn't he played exclusively on the left side?

I've been on record as saying I think they go Smith.  He has the traits and the character they like
