I would absolutely hate drafting Robinson at 10, but it would be fun to watch him on Sundays.

That’s probably where I’m at too. But ai suspect that about five minutes after the pick is made, I’ll talk myself into liking it. And I’ll spend the next two hours — until our next pick — imagining all the cool things our offense will be able to do with another big time weapon.

But I really do want a lineman with the first pick. Either side of the ball.

I think taking on another monster long term deal would be really tough while hoping to re-sign DeVonta & Dickerson.   I think the FA signings are more likely to be 1-yr deals or maybe 2 for some decent money.  For example if the draft falls in a way the Eagles don't get a DE I can still see Howie kicking tires on Yannick

Maybe not a monster long term deal like Burns, but more so that we won’t be stuck dumpster diving because of Hurts’ contract. We will have the ability to add good players from outside the organization.

Maxey is just...amazing.  Half the time he looks so uncoordinated out there but he's so good.

He may or may not have been nicknamed "spaz" in our household during his rookie year

Somehow Will Anderson was available at 10 lol. Also added a QB & LB in the 7th

Nice - I think Steen is also a G at the next level, so a double up with Zavala - but both interesting prospects in the right part of the draft for me.

With Howie's propensity for draft day surprises, the opportunity to get 39 and Brian Burns for 10 from the Panthers was too good to pass up. Burns is far move valuable to our team than anyone on the board at that spot.

I don't see the Panthers trading Burns, if so I'd do that. Same goes for their DT. With 20 plus mil under the cap still I think Howie has a trick up his sleeve with a big player trade.

I'm just rooting for a trade down next week. This is a weak draft, and we're short on picks. Would love to get a 2024 1st, and really own the 2024 draft. IMO, there isn't a big difference between prospects 10-25 in this class.

His mock is based on what he’s hearing around the league. Has us taking Bijon and McDonald.

Seems like he is getting the vibe that Howie is drafting for the short-term, Bijon is a obvious move in that direction; McDonald is a good player, who might contribute right away... but is also a 24yr old DE, so the upside is likely limited (at least that has been the typical story at that position).

Yup. Oddly, this makes it easier to trade down. If there are only 8 players with 1st round grades, and he's there at 10, a team has to trade up for him or only acquire 2nd round players.

Well, let's just hope this doesn't turn into another Wentz situation where the contract was given and then the play regressed.

Yep. All while maintaining flexibility to build around him now. The cap will go up, but the medicine will still be hard to swallow. But overall it’s a solid strategy for a win-now team. Howie needs to hit on some picks to keep the roster viable, especially on defense. There’s very little proven talent on that side, and no foundational players to speak of yet.

I think what Howie realized is that cap hell is irrelevant if your team sucks anyway.  Kick the can down the road until the team is on the downslope.  Then cut everyone and take enormous dead cap hits for 2 years while you build around the high picks you get from sucking.  Then 2 years in, sign a few nice FAs once the cap has cleared.

Circle of life.

By Damar Hamlin, do they mean his clone?

Because you know, the NFL covered his actual death up, he was cloned, yadda yadda.

For the "Cap doesn't matter" crowd.

Kinda surprised Donald hasn't retired or requested a trade.

Sometimes that works out for the best; Paul McCartney became a much better musician and songwriter after he died.

Why would a guy who just suffered cardiac arrest on national TV and became the talk of every news outlet need security detail for his first pubic appearance? Just asking questions. Big Pharma is after me now.

Could be true. With such a large number of picks next year, he can look long term with that draft class. I can't see McDonald, though, but I am draft challenged and always have  been.

My official predictions: the Eagles do not use the #10 or #30 picks.

#10: trade down into 12-16 for the best offer (most likely not a 1, but a volume of miscellaneous picks).  Then Howie drafts the highest edge/OL on his board.

#30: trade down into early/mid 2nd for misc. pocket change.  Best DL/OL/DB/RB.

I think they’re honoring Lawrence Taylor by bringing a hooker in for a visit.

He'd be a good mentor for a young QB like Jones

The thing is if they draft Skoronski it's with the idea that he is a day one starter at RG. Obviously nothing is guaranteed and Jurgens could out play him in camp, but you don't draft a G at 10 if you think he isn't a day one starter and even day one stud. I personally like Johnson better because he could be a day one starter at RG and take over for Lane at RT in 3 years. Skoronski isn't going to be a T in the NFL. Of course, if the Eagles think Skoronski is a far superior prospect then that shouldn't matter. The most important thing with a top 10 pick is to nail it and not get too caught up in the position.

I don’t agree that either Skoronski or Johnson or Jones would be the Day One starter at RG.  You do that and Jurgens sits on the bench for a second year.  That is less desirable than having the #10 pick have a red shirt year.

Matt, respectfully, I disagree. I know how you like to be "yogi" of the board but this is a distorted take. It is a moneyball take. Hurts plays moneyball football in the correct sense. He gets on base and in football that means moving the sticks. Does it produce big arm highlight moment like Josh Allen, no. Is it spectacular I am an athletic freak and the play broke down but I pass it behind my back, Mahomes, no. What it looks like is highly efficient high school football that moves that chains and wins championships. Some folks, like TJenkins, want the home run swing but that it not the most efficient game winning strategy. Hurts with a good Oline, top RB and receivers who consistently catch the ball, is the strategy. It moves the ball down the field and eats the clock. Do you get the adrenaline rush of Josh Allen highlights? Probably not but Josh Allen types winning the whole thing is probabilistically less likely than Hurts.

TJenkins hates on this buy because he doesn't like the style of football that can be successful with a less than excellent arm and is more dependent on discipline, work ethic and toughness. Sorry, but you are wrong in defending that his posts are not hating. They are hating and in turn, loving of a brand of football that in this day and age is less effective.

You have made my argument for me,  Toast hates on style.  It isn’t about the person playing the style.  It is not personal.

it is virtually identical to the broadly held hate here for a selection of Bijan Robinson at #10.  No one hates Bijan personally.  They hate the whole idea of taking any RB at #10. It is not personal.

Hate is a very personal emotion.
