I know.  Let me live in denial that the new uniforms will be Kelly green, just as the old colors and we never see that horrid black again.

I suggest you get these:

This would put Hurts’ deal through the roof if Jones gets anything close to this.

Just browsing OTC this morning again.  Lane Johnson and Darius Slay restructures could free up $23 million but I'm hestitant to do either of those.  Slay's play rapidly declined and I don't want to be tied up with him any longer than they already are.  Lane has said he only wants to play until 2024 I believe, but who knows if he sticks to that.

A safe player to restructure could be Jake Elliott.  As a kicker, you'd hope he lasts well in to his 30s so he's going to be here for a while.  $2.3 million could be saved with a restructure.

I could be wrong but it also looks like if they cut Quez as a post June 1, they would save $2.7 million.

2022 24 $895,000 $42,415   $937,415 0.4%
2023 25 $2,743,000 $42,415   $2,785,415 1.2%

$2,743,000

If I'm looking at those scenarios the right way, easy way to free up $5 million for 2023.  Cap guys, am i reading those things the right way?

Quez is in the last year of his deal. Post June 1st doesn’t make a difference than pre-June 1st.

With the options with Brown and Reddick we will have 35M in cap space. I’ve been thinking this morning. I think we should cut ties with Slay as a post june 1st cut and leave Lane alone.

and yes cutting Ques saves 2.7M which i think we should do and move on to a different slot WR.

According to Caplan, a coaching source said Rallis interviewed for Eagles DC job.

Funny thing about those green glasses... when you look at black things through them... it still looks black!

What about guys like Tyler Huntley or Philip Walker?  Did Huntley earn a starting job somewhere after his "Pro Bowl" year?

They are both restricted free agents

Why do you think those open up money? I don't see how either can free up space.

At the start of free agency, the Eagles will have a 10-day window to pick up options in wide A.J. Brown and edge rusher Haason Reddick’s contracts.

Brown would be due a $10.17 million payment that is required for a dummy 2027 contract year. His 2023 base salary would reduce from a fully-guaranteed $11.25 million to a fully-guaranteed $1.08 million with the option being exercised.

The remaining $16,470,471 of Brown’s $20.25 million 2024 base salary is fully guaranteed.

For Reddick, he’ll be due a $15.17 million payment which is required for a dummy 2027 contract year. His 2023 base salary would then reduce from a fully-guaranteed $16.25 million to a fully-guaranteed $1.08 million with the option being exercised.

In all, the two options would save Philadelphia $25 million in cap space as those salaries become automatic payments or bonuses.

Yes but the websites already have the contracts structured that way, and his cap number under that scenario factored into their calculations

image.png.c015d0d0ec7fb4213952e3e8a0d354d2.png

OTC doesn't show as much details but they also have it structured under your scenario and again have him at the $8,318,894 cap number for 2023

image.png.cf1ab325ebecb42af3835cca9480b83a.png

Same thing with Reddick. The Eagles haven't officially exercised the option bonuses yet but the websites both already factored it into their cap calculations. So that's what I mean when I say I don't see how it frees up additional space, as it already is included in their calculations. It sounds like your double dipping.

Let’s see how truly competitive he is with a game of RPS.

It both those cases the cap hit number will drop to 1.08M. Right now OTC shows the cap number at 12.42M. They don’t have it factored yet. They are moving the bonus in 2024 to 2027 and 2028. The void years don’t actually exist until the option is exercised.

Edit: 2027 void year exists for 2 million but it will take that bonus from 2023 and add it to the 2027 void year and add a 2028 void year for 3 million.

Just wait a couple of weeks for the options to pick up, then the contract structures on sites like Spotrac and OTC make more sense. Those sites are not equipped to handle all the levers that Howie puts in contracts.

There's no possible way the cap number drops to 1.08M. Their base salary alone is $1.08M. And OTC has it factored in, I just posted the screen shot to you. $12.42M is 2024's cap number. We are entering the 2023 season in a month, so whatever happens in 2024 is irrelevant.

Cap number can’t be 1.08. His prorated signing bonus alone is over 6 million and you can’t reduce that.

Only his salary drops to 1.08, plus prorateds should be around 8m cap hit

His guaranteed money drops from 11.25 to 1.08 not his cap #, sorry. They pay the difference in the drop 10M immediately as a bonus with exercising the option. They move 7M from the cap in 2023 to the void year in 2027. They move the other 3M to a new void year in 2028. This saves 10M on the cap.

It saves 10m in concept yes, but it does appear both salary-tracking sites have accounted for this already. So their cap estimates are with this procedure already in place. So his cap # could have been 18-19m, but now it will be 8m.

No they haven’t. It still shows his guaranteed money is 11.25M, not 1.08. They have the voids years on there on OTC but they haven’t activated yet until the guaranteed money drops to 1.08M. Spotrac doesn’t even have the void years calculated yet, that’s why the numbers are different on the chart posted.

Right they pay the bonus, but the bonus get's prorated evenly from 2023 through 2027. His 2023 cap number is then his base salary (1.08M) + 2022 signing bonus proration ($4.64M) + 2023 option proration ($2.05M).  And this is what the websites already show and already have factored into their cap calculation.

Your confusing cash vs cap. And again you are talking about 2024 for some reason. We are going into 2023. The numbers for 2023 match exactly.

I think you may be confusing yourself about what is happening to that 10m$. We’re not taking that away from AJ. How do you believe we’re giving him 10+m$ guaranteed but the cap hit is much lower at 8m$?

What your article is saying is 10m$ of his salary is being converted into a signing bonus, and his remaining salary is 1.08m. So he gets 10m$ guaranteed in 2023, that is added to the guarantees section by picking up this option. It wasn’t there before this… We are moving 10m million from salary to guarantees. But it now becomes prorated because it’s a signing bonus, so it doesn’t all hit the cap in 2023.

AJ gets the same money, we get cap relief

I am not talking about 2024. Look at your OTC chart. It says the guaranteed money for 2023 is 11.25M. Spotrac doesn’t have guaranteed money charted. Yes it’s right at the moment but when the option happens the guaranteed money will drop to 1.08M and they will give him a check for the 10M as a bonus. Then the 2027 void year will go from 2M to 9M and they will add a void year for 2028 at 3M.

I know we aren’t taking away money from AJ. We are giving him a check for 10M and moving the cap space from 2023 to void years in 2027 and 2028.
