Telling ya, Howie's gonna try to get a blue chip player with that pick. Don't think he's gonna settle.

He shouldn't. Also, it's a top 10 pick so whomever they take should be a day one starter. I'm not sure just how much that is a caveat but let's break that down anyway:

Day 1 starter - Jalen Carter, Brian Branch, Bijan Robinson, Jaxon Smith-Njigba (slot)

They won't take Branch or Robinson that early, it's not how they do business. If there is a wild card in my opinion at the pick it's JSN.

Probable day 1 starter - Peter Skoronski, Parris Johnson

Both likely a day one starter at RG, potential replacement at RT down the road for Lane, it's OL which they love, makes sense.

Potential Day 1 starter - Christian Gonzalez, Devon Witherspoon

Move Maddox to S, play one of these guys in the slot, then kick them outside to eventually replace one of the two vets. Makes sense, not talked about enough.

Guys like Van Ness, Smith, and Murphy won't see the field much. Maybe Van Ness because he play inside as well as edge. With Reddick, Sweat, BG, and Barnett you are looking at a 4th pass rusher for this year with any of these guys. I just keep coming back to the fact that the value at 10 isn't great for any of these edge rushers and I stand by it. I think they could use a young DE but I think there will be plenty of guys they can draft at 30/63 who give them that and provide far better value.

They should not only be looking to draft the best player available at 10, but someone who can come in and have a big, immediate impact. So to me that means one of Jalen Carter who you'd likely have to trade up for, Skoronski or Johnson, Gonzalez or Witherspoon, and JSN.

Idiots.I will take Paris Johnson as the consolation prize. Bears need to protect Fields more than build their DL.

Hope Seattle passes on Carter, trade up to 7 with Vegas and draft him. Send them 10, 94, and a 3rd in 2024.

At 30 trade down with Vegas again for 38, 100, and 141.

In - 7, 38, 100, 141

Out - 10, 30, 94, 3rd in 2024

At the end of the day you are basically giving up a 3rd next year for 141

Adding Patricia is gross. So unlikeable. I guess that’s why Howie caved in the Slay negotiations.

Learned D from Belichek.  I have no issue with tapping into that to help Desai develop any more than I worried about Fangio’s input.   Eagles have a very young defensive coaching staff.

My worry is that Las Vegas doesn't trade up to 30 if their target gets snatched up. Which is Hooker in this scenario I'm guessing.

It's a gamble.

Being a washout head coach doesn't preclude a person from being great at a role below. It shouldn't be a Scarlett Letter. Might end up drafting a LB a bit higher than predicted.

Fingers crossed for Campbell or Sanders.

Does anyone else find that really weird?

Jalen Carter is gonna get more top 30 visits than Bijan, while being Wanted by police at the combine and refusing to see 2/3rd’s of the teams

Makes perfect sense. I want to bring in the guy with more question marks and higher upside.

Twitter finally required a monthly fee today to keep your blue check mark. A lot of insiders may no longer have it, don’t be alarmed.

Funny side note: Elon is handing out free ones so that influential celebrities can’t denounce the service and hurt his bottom line.

Howie says no one outside the organization has any intel on what he'll do in the draft, but just like everyone else I'll take a guess ....

At pick #10 he said today in his PC that it needs to be a "unique" player.  I guess some will interpret that as he will trade up to get a top 5 talent (QBs pushing them down a bit).  He also said drafting a player just on positional value doesn't do any good if the player isn't any good.

I think Howie will play the board with the notion of trading out of the pick.  If a player is still on the board at #10 that they evaluate as a top (unique) prospect, they'll pick but otherwise he'll field calls.  Bijan Robinson is actually a pretty good safety net because he's a unique talent who will probably be available at #10, and I'd say will likely be available even with a trade down to 15-17 range.  I think Van Ness would also be available after a trade down to the same range.  To me, Anderson is the only EDGE in this class who is unique, I don't think there are any DT who are unique, and I don't see any OL who qualify as unique.

The Eagles might view Gonzalez or Witherspoon as unique, but it's a deep CB class so I doubt they'll use a #10 pick on one.  EDGE is deep too -- if not top-heavy with elite talent.

If we are going to hinge on that work "unique", you have to think 1 is Nolan Smith. Pending the eagles character evaluation, Jalen Carter as well. Gonzalez may be unique with his length and athleticism. Bijan Robinson is unique.

It rules out Skoronski. Iffy on Witherspoon. He may be uniquely physical though. His size is not.

That's my 1a and 1b for LB

We aren't in a position to use any day 2/3 picks this year to move up. We will be borrowing from next year if anything (ideally our 2nd, not the Saints pick).

10 & 30 are interesting in terms of moving up and down. It's a near certainty that one of them will be traded back to recoup 4-7th round picks.

Taken at face value, who are the "unique” players? I take "unique” as different than "good.” Basically rare skill sets:

Anderson

Carter

Richardson

Those are the only "unique” players I see clearly worth a top 10 pick.

Maybe Wilson, Gonzalez, Van Ness, Banks, Ringo, and Nolan Smith… but they aren’t really worth a pick that high IMO aside from the first two.

Well, he doesn‘t show his cards much. But with Roseman I learned that the little side-remarks and jokes are somewhat telling. And that one joke, where (after he talked about having twelve picks next year) he jokes after this draft there would be two picks remaining…

Obviously thats not going to happen but I felt he was hinting about trading up and giving up picks. Look at Sirianis face too..

Ok, I am reading tea leaves here. But still felt like he gave away a bit of strategy there.

I tend to think if Carter makes it to 7 the eagles are trading up with the raiders. That said i tend to think he goes to seattle where they Texans take Anderson, cardinals take Wilson.

So you think only 2 QBs go before us?

It‘s not personal. He just despises bad value.

Exactly!

If trading up for Carter means missing on a prospect like Sydney Brown or Riley Moss in the 3rd round plus 2024 draft capital, I'm not down with that.

I always wondered if the Jordan Davis trade up cost the Eagles Tariq Woolen. Because when he was drafted one pick in front of the Eagles, they traded back.

Guys we’re a Super Bowl team with a top 10 pick and 2 picks in the first round. This is gonna be a draft weekend to remember
