he may have meant media. Not necessarily that they said it to his face at the PC, but some in the media may have said it.

These f'ing morons ...

Sucks about Jameson. I was looking forward to seeing him fully healthy. Edit: NVM, he's only 6 games for whatever reason.

Jameson Williams got 6 games for betting on non-NFL games but at the team facility.

That is beyond ridiculous.

That's the dumbest thing I ever heard. 6 games for betting on say an NBA game when someone who beats up a girl would get likely the same. It's absurd.

That movie is awful. I don’t get the appeal at all.

Like I said, definitely not a cinematic masterpiece. But I like Costner a lot. I really only yell it to watch him call the Seahawks GM a pancake-eating mother-Fer.

If the Eagles see Nolan Smith as worthy of a top 10 pick, in Howie's shoes I would have a brief chat with Davis and Dean (separately) to ask them about Jalen Carter.  Undoubtedly, as former teammates they'll say nice things and focus on the positives.  I'd ask them a few "softball" questions and listen for any signs of concern, etc.

As they get up and head for the door I would say "sorry, just one more question while it's on my mind; we only have one pick at #10 -- who do you think would be the better player and better Eagle?  Jalen Carter or Nolan Smith?"  Unless they said Carter without hesitation that would tell me all I need to hear, and Smith would be the preferred option.

Howie and Nick were speaking about Hurts' extension in their PC yesterday, and both of them said the money will definitely not change the player or person Jalen Hurts is.  I think one of them joked he was going to show up at the facility driving a Ferrari.  They've talked many times about Hurts' intangibles, leadership, work ethic and overall character.  From what I've been hearing pre-draft all those qualities line up with Nolan Smith and not with Carter.

It's hard to reconcile that with spending a top 10 pick on Jalen Carter, IMO.

Nolan Smith sincerely comes across as an incredibly intelligent and kind young man off the field. I would not be upset if he’s the guy at 10. The thought of formations with him and Reddick on the field together is really intriguing, especially with Desai taking over.

Not sure of the date but I’m a big fan of the Seahawks.

I watched a lot of Georgia. He really was never tasked as a pass rusher. He’s an incredible run stopper with A+ athleticism. That’s not to say he can’t be a plus pass rusher. I envision him being used like Parsons as a moveable chess piece.

I 100% agree. I absolutely get the betting on NFL games being a no no. But putting some money down on an NBA playoff game and getting suspended for six games is absurd. Especially with how hard the NFL advertises the gambling industry.

We are not drafting Robinson at 10.  Please take your ball and go home.

I understand your rationale, though I do not share it. Fortunately, I am already home and my balls are present.

I don't think anyone would complain about Mazi at 30, just to get that out of the way.

As for Robinson, I think there is a very good rationale for picking him at 10 and I'll try to lay it out.

The first thing is, he's obviously very talented, both as a runner and receiver. He's a nightmare match-up. Look at what McCaffery did against us without a QB. He was an eighth overall pick for the Panthers and the 49ers traded the equivalent of a high first-round pick for him a year ago. They also took on a high salary. That's two teams that valued a RB as high or higher than tenth overall. I would argue that Bijan is better runner and comparable receiver. He's also bigger and just as fast.

The second thing is, we have a bunch of complimentary RBs right now, but no lead back. I don't think anyone has pointed that out but it's true.

The third thing is, this team is built to win now. The Giants made a mistake in drafting Barkley because they were a bad team that had many needs and RB was not a high priority. The Eagles have a loaded offense that lacks only a bell cow RB and he would be it. Not a day goes by in the Blog without someone talking about Hurts taking too many hits. You put a serious stud RB behind him and the number of those hits go down. Further, having a more dangerous back behind him makes Hurts more dangerous as well. To whom do you commit?

More on the team ready to win now: Kelce came back. Obviously he thinks he's on a winner. Bradbury gave us a discount. So did Cox and BG. Same reason. Lane has, what? two more years? If we were to draft an OT (something I would always like) he's going to sit for those years. Some folks here have already complained about drafting a player who's going to sit; they see it as wasting the pick. There are complaints about Jurgens having to sit and some of those same folks want to draft an OL who will either sit or cause Jurgens to sit. To elaborate on that a bit, while I would be happy to see us draft one of the top tackles, somebody will have to sit. Assuming it's the rookie tackle, why not draft a project - someone like Freeland or Witt who projects out to be a high-level starter in two years. We can get either of those guys later in the draft. There are quite a few other promising OL in this class who just need time, or coaching, or added weight or some combination of all three. Further, with 12 picks in 2024, we should be able to draft a couple of really good, and NFL-ready OL a year from now. Or, we could draft one this year with #30 or some combination of picks. Even if we do, he's going to sit.

Finally, there's the whole thing about an RB's shelf-life. It's nonsense to expect Bijan to be a 10-year player. RBs just don't last that long, what with the beating they take. But, it is reasonable to expect the player to last through his first contract; in Bijan's case that's five years plus we control him for another. Six years is a lifetime in the NFL. The Lanes and Kelces are outliers. Most of the long-career guys are linemen and, as I argued earlier, anyone of those we draft would sit.

Except Jalen Carter, who is another story.

No it's not. They are warned several times every year about gambling. Their policy clearly states "NFL Personnel shall not engage in any form of gambling while in any Club or League setting including, without limitation, locker rooms, practice or office facilities, team buses, trains, flights or hotels or while traveling on Club or League business."

It's all spelled out for them. They are the dumbest things in the world for doing something they are clearly told not to do.

Players are allowed to bet on the NBA or any sport that isn't the NFL. They just can't do it on the clock. It's perfectly reasonable.

Honestly the all-black thing should be reserved for the Raiders and only the Raiders.

100%; My least favorite nfl teams are ones that favor all black uniforms. Saints, Ravens, Cardinals. It’s a petty way to judge teams, but visual appeal is necessary in a tv show, which the nfl basically is

On the flipside, I’ve never really been a fan of the Steelers, but these i like a lot

Warning employees about dumb policies doesn't make the policies not ridiculous. Two things can be a true. A player can be dumb for breaking rules they know to be rules and the rules themselves can be stupid.

There's no logical reason for someone to be suspended 6 games where people who've done actual heinous things get suspended for the same. And Watson got suspended only 5 more games for being a serial predator. It's insane.

6 games is a 3rd of the season. There's no logical reason for it to be that severe.

I agree on the Steelers alternate unis. Putting my personal bias for the Eagles aside, my favorite uniforms are:

Home - Bears

Away - Seahawks

Alternate - Steelers

It's what the NFL and NFLPA agreed to. With clear "do not do this or this will happen" rules in place. Whether the punishment is too harsh, that's a different debate. But everything is spelled out for them and if they are dumb enough to do it, they get what they deserve. Imagine risking 6 games to a year of your pay just to place a parlay.

And just like the last year, the reason the penalty is severe is to discourage players and staff from gambling because they want to keep the integrity of the league and their golden cash cow.

I do think they should be harsher with DV issues, but they take them on a case by case basis.

His first 2 seasons Smith was basically a backup.  2021 he had a great season. Was off to a great 2022 until he suffered a torn pec

All good points on Robinson, plus I'll add that the Eagles are very familiar with playing against Zeke Elliott, who was a top draft pick RB.  I don't know how the Eagles view Zeke Elliott, whether he was a pain to game plan for, play against, etc., but it's possible the Eagles could place value in having a top RB to give defenses something else they need to prepare for.  In his 12 career games against the Eagles, Elliott has career stats of:

233 carries for 1,107 yards = 4.8 yards per rush and 49 catches for 357 yards = 7.3 yards per catch
