Leonhard is a promising coach and I would be fine with the hire but having a college coach as everyone's favorite  target was a twist I didn't see coming.

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

Reminder: Jim Leonhard is the best defensive coordinator in college football.

3-4 up front, C3 behind it.

Count me in on Jim Leonhard.

Jonathan Gannon takes blame for Eagles' Super Bowl breakdowns: 'I did not do a good enough job'

The Philadelphia Eagles defense crashed and burned in the second half of Super Bowl LVII, giving up four consecutive scoring drives to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs to ultimately lose, 38-35.

Two of the game's biggest plays came when Kansas City faked jet motion and reversed course for wide-open touchdowns. First, Kadarius Toney slammed the brakes early in the fourth quarter and found himself alone after Eagles defensive backs overplayed the motion. On the next K.C. drive, Philly called an all-out blitz on third down, and again no one covered the fake jet motion, leaving Skyy Moore alone for a score to put the Chiefs up eight points.

Speaking to Peter King of NBC Sports, former Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, who took the Arizona Cardinals head coaching job last week, shouldered the blame for the pair of coverage busts, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.

"Our players were prepped. I did not do a good enough job myself to put them in a position to make the play," Gannon told King. "I didn't do a good enough job to get out of the call what I wanted out of the call. I didn't give them the tools that they needed to win the down.

"On the second one, I thought [Mahomes] was gonna play that as a drop back and that [coverage] was a zero [blitz]. Jesus Christ wouldn't have covered that in a zero."

And get beat by four verts?

Caplan will soon be saying he of course knew the Eagles interviewed Leonard but couldn't tell us simple folks.

Im not a real religious person, but I have to call BS. JC would have a pick six

It was a fluid situation, so he had to ask Greg Cosell to confirm.

That’s his base D, but everybody mixes in quarters, etc.

Mahomes had one incompletion in the 2nd half. I think making it about one or two bad calls understates how terrible a game Gannon called.  0 sacks

Is he afraid to blitz or play press man?

If Byron Jones becomes a cap causality, what is the level of interest?

As an alumni, I would be giddy for the Eagles and bummed as hell for my Badgers.

Wouldn't the new DC want his own choice of position coaches?

Veteran NFL reporter Ben Volin recently had the following to say:

Hurts and the Eagles declined to talk about a contract extension following the Super Bowl loss, but don’t be surprised if he has a new deal before the Combine starts in a week and a half. Prior to the Super Bowl, the Eagles had already approached veterans about redoing deals to make space for Hurts.

His injury situation seems pretty worrying. I would rather see them draft a corner than rely on hitting on another cheap free agent.

Hell yes!  Make this happen.  At the very least, promote Wilson to DC (draft picks when he gets a HC gig), and offer Leonard the job of DB coach who can then take over DC when Wilson is gone.

Eagles avoided a major disaster in signing Jones the first time. Let's not test fate.

I'd be fine signing him to a minimum-vet contract. No other team is going to give him real money

I think Hurts would be willing to sign a deal pretty fast as well.

But if he wanted to maximize his earnings, he should really wait.

He's not on any UW coaching staff right now so nothing to be bummed about besides the fact that he didn't get more of an opportunity after being Interim HC.  Leonard is a coaching FA at every level right now.

Makes sense.  If they are going to do it, do it soon before other idiots (Jones) get overpaid and set the market.

That's where my head is at. Maybe on a cheap 1 year prove it deal but nothing else.

Back in his time on ESPN talking to an NFL GM.

C3 is very close to man in some respects - but I believe he mostly brings 4 (not a heavy blitzer).

C3 still works for the 9ers, so not antiquated.
