Yep, and Patrick Peterson was the only one over 32. Maybe they can get away with it this year but I'm thinking a 33 year old Slay and 31 year old Bradberry is going to be a problem next year.

Bradberry is currently 29. He'll be 30 during the season. 30-31 for Bradberry is fine, especially how he plays zone.

Slay was a very good CB last year. Even if he loses a bit of a step, he'll be average.

George Ham Cannon, to be precise. You learn something new every day. LOL

We have no idea how either will fair. Very good CB's fall off cliffs all the time.

Should’ve let Slay walk because we’re in prime position for a CB @ 10

Would be nice if he's still on the board and we trade back. Chad Reuter just mocked Vikings trading up for him at 10 and giving up their #23, a third rounder (#87) this year, a 2024 1st.

Wouldn't say no to that. Some good CBs, OL and DL at 23, not to mention Bijan being good value if he falls that far...

I know what I WOULDN'T call on defense:

I'd even keep him for just this year and groom whoever we take in the draft. Besides RB, I'm not sure there is another position that falls off faster with age than CB.

If Nolan Smith and Jalen Carter are gone at 10 I would take a corner regardless of having Slay. That or trade back a little.

To one and all, I am not convinced we should draft Bijan at #10. I'm just making the argument, which I think is fairly good.

I appreciate it.  I don't come here looking for agreement.

I am OK taking Bijan in round 1, just do it at 16 or 18 with another 1st round pick next year.

I am not OK with taking Bijan at 10.

Knowing Howie he's not going to be comfortable not getting one of the "unique" players he identified. Now, that's not entirely up to him obviously, but it reinforces my belief I think he'll try to trade up and get one of those guys.

Settling for a non unique guy when a unique guy is within his grasp picking top 10 will eat away at him.

I am curious how the Eagles rank the tackles though. And if the ability to play guard this season will even factor in at all.

Anyone see the John Bachard rumor that Van Ness is off our draft board because he took a 100 dollar bill out of a playbook that was given to him and lied about it?

No idea if that is a real story.

Aren't most playbooks tablets these days? If so, I'm not sure how he'd take a 100 bill out of one.

He’ll be gone by then. This draft class is almost universally regarded as weak and core positions. I bet we take him at 10. There aren’t 8 guys left at 10 that howie would be content with to trade to 18

Certainly not on a work computer.

This idea that CBs "fall off a cliff" is not grounded in reality. They don't suddenly go from Pro Bowlers to scrubs. The most likely scenario is average play, then more decline thereafter.

So we need a CB who can be ready to start in place of Slay in 2024, not 2023.

Did we win the Super Bowl?

I feel the RB thing has been an eagles philosophy since reid was here. I don’t think it’s anything new. I do think the eagles would spend a 2nd or 3rd on a RB if the value is there. It’s actually where they’ve had a ton of success: westbrook (3rd), mccoy (2nd) and sanders (2nd).

i will pose this, how much difference in production do you think bijan drafted at 10 and Gibbs at 30 makes? I tend to think the eagles will still use a committee. I don’t think it’s a coincidence the eagles haven’t had a bell cow back since howie has come back in 2016. They drafted sanders in the second round and the only time he really went over 200 carries was his final year when they knew they weren’t bringing him back and could just use all the tread on the tire.

also if they take bijan i can already see him getting 12-15 touches. And penny, gainwell and Scott getting the rest and people complaining about why bijan isn’t getting 20-25.

DJ said he is guessing the Eagles go Nolan Smith at 10 then Gibbs with a trade back into round 2. I'd be overall ok with this scenario though I'd rather a trade back for Smith if possible.

Probably fell out of Jalen's pocket.

If they stay at 10 I’ve been on there’s 4 prospects that are likely available that they’d choose: Paris, smith, jones and van ness (i tend to think two corners, Carter, Williams and Wilson are gone)

I don't think Nolan Smith meets the criteria for "special." If they can't trade up for Carter or Anderson or Carter doesn't fall to 10, I think it's likely to be OT.

I think it's more likely the Eagles view one of the OTs as a stud heir apparent to Lane(plus a very important backup in case he goes down) than it is they view one of the non Wilson, Anderson edge rushers as a "can't miss/unique" player. I just don't see any of those guys as unique. I think some of them have high upside. But a lot of guys in a lot of drafts have high upsides. But a player Howie drools over? I think it's more probable Howie views Paris Johnson or Jones or Skoronski as that rather than one of these promising but low production edge rushers.
