Depends on how many picks and who's available. This team needs OT/OG depth, DT depth, perhaps a slot WR, a safety and LB. Not sure they'll have the pick quantity to use two on RBs. And also if they draft two they'd have to carry 5 on the active roster which is very unlike them. I'd highly doubt they draft two.

The only lock at RB as of now should be Gainwell.

USFL + its hub approach equals DIII level football

Not even D3. I'd say it's NAIA level.  If one thing kills that league it's going to be the lack of any home field for any of the teams.  No idea what they are thinking.  Watch the XFL games and every one of the games outside of the Vegas home games have had great atmospheres.

This JSN/Bijan chatter, if true, means that Howie doesn’t expect a difference making defensive player to be there at 10, and doesn’t want to settle for another Derek Barnett level player at a premium position.

Or, like I've been saying, you surround your QB with as much elite talent as possible and make the game as easy as you can for him.  As good as Hurts was last year, a good part of his success was having some of the best weapons in the NFL at his disposal.  Keep loading up the offense with weapons so when one of them moves on, more are ready to step up.  Wash, rinse, repeat.

Can't say I disagree, the NFL today is a race to 30+ points. Defense is becoming increasingly marginalized.

JSN at 10, Gibbs at 30

or

Bijan at 10, Addison at 30 is fine with me.

no. A 3rd WR who is likely at best a 4th option in the offense (5th if you account for Hurts running) has far less effect on an offense than a bellcow RB, who can also catch passes very well.

Yes. It’s easier to find a RB later and the #3 WR is going to see more snaps. A potentially great slot WR would take this offense further than a RB. The running game is going to be good thanks to our OL and QB.

I go Pittman over JSN. JSN and Smith are redundant. However, Smith is far more dynamic. Pittman is complementary. Hes another big body who can do everything JSN does, and better. And when AJ is gone in a few years (if they dont extend him), you have his replacement.

You can get a slot WR later too. Dont take a top 10 WR unless he has prototype traits and has X potential.

Pittman? Tillman?

I think Tillman is similar to AJ Brown, sort of a poor man’s version.  I think Addison is more similar to DeVonta Smith, or a poor man’s version.  JSN would be the homeless guy version.

JSN >>>Addison

More guards

5. JOE TIPPMANN, Wisconsin (6-6, 313, no 40, 2-3): Worked in practice at guard in 2019-'20 before moving into the lineup at center in 2021-'22. Guard would be a projection partially because his height might be an impediment at center. "He's a player," one scout said. "Nothing really special, but this is the kind of guy you can win games with." Has had surgery on each of his shoulders. "He walks into a room," said a second scout. "He's 6-6, he talks like a pro, walks like a pro. You watch the tape and he's OK. He wasn't as good as I thought he was going to be. He's leggy and ends up on the ground. Remember Mike Flanagan? He's probably a little bigger, better version of Mike Flanagan. He's a taller pivot man." Arms were just 32 ¾. Large hands (10 ¾. "He's got a little more movement than typical Wisconsin guys," said a third scout. "Real efficient. Has plenty of functional strength. He'll get after you every so often.

CHANDLER ZAVALA, North Carolina State (6-3½, 316, 5.22, 3-4): Sixth-year senior. "His dad (Demetrio) is a Food Channel celebrity," said one scout. "He can cook like a maniac so the kid has problems with his weight. Two years ago, before he got hurt, he was playing right next to the first-round pick that Carolina took (Ikem Ekwonu) and they were killing people. They were frigging moving the crap out of people. It was awesome. Prototypical guard body. Little bit of a waist-bender. He's a baseline athlete. But he's got to pass somebody's physical first. The back issue is a serious one." Missed the last seven games of 2021 with a back injury that required surgery. Returned to the lineup at LG in 2022. "Athletic enough to seal a wide-3 (technique), strong enough to anchor down on a hard-1 (technique) and his hands are good in pass sets," a second scout said. "He's got upside. Displays competitiveness, power, determination and a will to win." Played three years at Division II Fairmont State (W.Va.), starting at LG in 2018-'19. Transferred to NC State when Fairmont State didn't play in 2020 because of the pandemic. "He's tough, a good kid," said a third
scout. "Realistically, he's a guard only, which hurts him.

7. BRAEDEN DANIELS, Utah (6-3 1/2, 300, 5.04, 3-4): Three-year starter. "He won't ever be an elite guy but he can start for most teams," said one scout. "I see him more as a guard. He can more than get you out of a game at right tackle." Started at LT in 2022, RT in '21 and LG in '19. Reserve in '20. "My concern with him at guard is the power - the core power and strength," said a second scout. "At tackle, there are some things he could clear up but as far as the athlete he has tackle athleticism. He just needs to get stronger. He does not have ideal length (33 arms)." His Wonderlic score of 10 was the
lowest among the leading 25 guards.

Nope.  Addison can play both inside and out and win.  JSN lives in the slot and can’t run.  Didn’t run at the Combine because he’d have timed around 4.6.  Even at his Pro Day he was 4.52.  Reagor was 4.38 at his Pro Day.  Took pretty much zero snaps outside during his collegiate career.

Both Miller and Kirwan were quite blunt in their assessment of JSN.  He had one year of college production where he had open space because Wilson and Olave were being double covered.  Not my words, theirs — but I definitely concur.

JSN is a 3rd round talent IMO.

Keep pushing Paris Johnson in the top 5 Tony!

An NFL executive said: "If you get a high score as a quarterback it’s not saying you’re going to be a great player. But if you get a low score, it’s 100% — none of the quarterbacks that got a low score became good players."

I’m not even saying to take one, but I’d take one over a RB

Which is why you invest in the premium OL not the premium rb

Possibly.  Allen was drafted 76th overall and excels beyond his physical ability due to a bulldog mentality and determination.

I don't know about the redundancy. Bijan to get the lead and then Penny to hold it in Q4. I'm a broken record on this but IMO ball control is the best D in this era of the NFL where rules and refs have pass attack success as the priority and effectiveness of D against the pass has been modulated down by the same systemic changes.

I agree with you on ball control for defense. But it’s the OL that’s going to provide this much more so than the RB.

Put another way, if you want a RB to get you the lead, Gibbs is probably a better fit for that role because of his explosiveness and superiority in the passing game to convert 3rd down passes. Penny would be the best of the three to close a game out with power running. Bijan gives you elements of both but not being the best at either. And ultimately the OL is more impactful than any of the three.

Darnell Washington is just an uber talent, him and Dallas while yes redunent would be amazing.

Do they hand him a Kelly Green #1 jersey?

That’s actually a brilliant idea for the jersey reveal.

So, #10 OL and #30 RB versus #10 RB and #30 OL, if Gibbs is available at #30

Pauline put out the Cam Jurgens story last year, but he seems to have a lot of misses. This feels like draft week shenanigans.

However, I love JSN. The downsides to drafting him are obvious -- not a field stretcher, sub-optimal straight line speed, only played the slot at OSU, Eagles top WRs are studs.

But the upside? He is a super talent at the position. Routes, hands, catching in stride, acrobatic/sideline catches. Upgrade in football IQ between him and Quez is the size of 10 football fields. And I think having another guy Hurts can have total trust in would only make Hurts more comfortable in the pocket, aiding his long-term development.
