PFF has been doing some live mock draft shows and they’re pretty much what you’d expect: staying close to consensuses but adding in wacky analytics to throw a wrench in a player or two at the end of the first round.

Mr. PFF himself, Cris Collinsworth, is on today and he’s doing his own mock draft not based on his site but his own personal opinions. And holy snot it is looney tunes:

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

If there is one player I don't want the Eagles to draft in the first round it is Breese. I think Collinsworth hates the Eagles so much that he is trolling the fanbase with his #10 pick.

This is the dumbest draft rumor ever and I love it

That's b/c he doesn't know. The only thing he can do is put together his draft board, then wait and see what offers come through the door. And who is on the board when he picks.

But come draft day, Howie is cool as a cucumber, he's learned from his mistakes and doesn't panic or reach.

How long ago was Reagor, JJAW, Davion Taylor, Andre Dillard, Pumphrey, etc.?  Sure took a lot of reaches and panics for Howie to "learn”.  Given, most of us mature in the job, but I am still a little haunted by the need to fist bump after Milton Williams.  What I am heartened by is Nick would have championed Jefferson over Reagor.  I am hopeful that Nick has influenced Howie on what to look for.  The draft is always a crap shoot with Howie.  How can he be so good at UDFAs and blow so many first round picks?

Breese or Van Ness for me

I think people are underestimating Milton Williams. Not saying they don't still need a rushing DT...they do. But a DT rotation along the lines of Cox, Davis, Williams, Street isn't bad. Add in a guy like Carter, Mazi Smith, Kancey, Benton, etc. and you have a VERY strong unit. I also could see Desai doing a lot of 5-2 this year with something like below where another starting-caliber DT becomes more critical than in a 4-3:

Reddick Cox Davis Williams Sweat

                        Dean Morrow

I just see Williams as a backup not a starter.  Davis didn't play all 3 downs in college and conditioning was an issue.  He played very limited snaps as a rookie and missed games due to injury.  Davis has to make a leap this year to show he worked in the offseason on conditioning, can take starting snaps and last the season and prove he was worth trading up for.  Cox continues to decline and Williams I think is just a backup to rotate in.  I think they will add a top DT prospect from the first couple rounds to that group and also draft an EDGE player and that would give them depth, rotation and give the rookies time to develop.

Guess I'm not the only one who wants no part of Adebawore. Of course it's probably Howies favored f'n prospect too.

Nope, two guys I want nothing to do with are Jalen Carter and Adebawore.  None of his tape matches the way he tested.

Bo Wulf ranked what he thinks the Eagles top priorities will be going into the draft.

1. Trade up for Anderson or Carter

2. Trade down from 10.

3. Hope one of Paris Johnson, Carter, Nolan Smith, Gonzalez, are there at 10.

What we know is Nick’s philosophy of fitting the scheme to the player more than the player to the scheme (happy medium is probably the goal).  What we lack a full understanding of is how Desai views using what he inherited on defense as players and what he sold Nick, Howie and Lurie on in his interview. (Whatever it was caused a departure of the defensive passing coordinator and may have influenced some of the free agent signings).  He retained the DL coaches (DTs and edge, OLB) and the assistant DB coach, who was promoted.  In his time at DC, he favored a 4/3 that concentrated on a four man front rush but that’s what he had in players. I hope he utilizes the 5/2.  I suspect we mix up the back six play more with him though. We’ll see.  I haven’t been this unsure of defensive targets since Castillo.  Personally, I think Carter is out of reach.  My guess is IF they pick a DT (it will be a BPA decision) it comes Day 2.  BTW, I am not convinced Street beats out Marlon T and remain curious bout Noah Elliss as a Davis back up.

If so, Will Anderson could fall. Word is Arizona would pass on him too.

Saw on Twitter players reporting for Phase 1. Davis looked to be in real good shape.   Some players realize that the strength and conditioning they get at a pro level benefits their pocket as well as longevity and even post career fitness.

Anyone else here this about Darnell Washington?

I'll keep beating this horse to death, but trading up for Jalen Carter would royally piss me off.

Agreed. Far too many red flags. We need to be maximizing picks as well, what are we using to trade up?  The future?  No thanks.

I can only be upset until they actually do it and I realize that having way more information than me,  they decided he's not that big of a character concern.

As of now,  I'm 99% against it. But that can change in the blink of an eye on draft night. I can become cautiously optimistic.

I'm the vice president of that fan club. And as a diehard UGA fan and alum, it pains me to say that. I just saw too many times where he was manhandled by good college OLs, times he was gassed midway through a game, and times where he greatly benefited from the cast of players around him and made plays on cleanup duty.

For me at 10 it's worth a gamble (probably unless really bad stuff out there).  Trading up seems to be ignoring red flags too much and fans always seem to forget every year how often red flags are actually real cause for future concern

Heres (what I think) is an interesting question.  Where does Derek Barnett fresh out of TN get picked in this draft?
