Meyers the TE? No way. That’d be a horrible pick unless you’re trading Goedert

11 personnel with Goedert & Mayer would be fun to watch with Smitty & AJ, Hurts. Sheesh.

Not saying I prefer it, but would be more accepting than an OL at 10.

That doesn’t mean invest In the first round to back him up. There are plenty of OL who can be much better backups to what we had last year. A good HB can also take pressure off of OL/Passing game as well. I think going OL at 10 would be a WILD given our current roster.

If they think the guy at top will be an All Pro tackle in a year or two then by all means but totally agree that getting a quality backup doesn't need to be the 10th pick.  Heck they can sign a guy to do that probably

He could absolutely be a 4-3 DE lol what? A lot of his tape is uninspiring however. He’s an impact player in certain moments, but over pursues and gets swallowed up a lot.

You think Will Anderson is built to be a 4-3 DE?  6-4 240 isn't getting it done to be an every down 4-3 DE.

Lol, what?

6’3 253 at the combine. He played inside DL, DE, and LB at Bama. I think he can play either 4-3 DE/3-4 OLB at a high level if he continues to improve his eyes, hands, and burst off the line. It’s preferred 3-4 OLB for sure, but I wouldn’t say he can only play for one scheme. He could easily be 260+ by the start of the season.

I don't think he's carrying over 250 during the season.  Just like Bryce Young put on weight for the combine, I think Anderson did the same.  He never played anywhere near 253.  I just think he's a player that you have to be more creative with rather than plugging in at a position and saying go get it.

So the top 3 is going to be Levis, Wilson, Johnson??

🤣🤣🤣

I still prefer Kincaid as the best TE in this class.  Mayer is too rocked up and a stiff mover.  Kincaid is better after the catch and more fluid.

Kincaid would be an Ertz facsimile, though.  I don't think he's ever thrown a block, while Mayer can fill both roles as a blocker and receiver.

Panthers - Young
Texans: T. Wilson
Cardinals: P. Johnson
Colts - Levis

If that happens, I'm guessing Seattle picks Anderson.

What are we waiting for

Definitely shouldn’t just tell him to rush forward all day. He accels at playing games, using horizontal movement in rushes.

Upgrade upon Calcaterra... F tight-end, alternative slot player.

I think Mayer although bricked up, has better feet than many give him credit for. His tracking ability is ridiculous. Massive for DBs, to quick for most LBs, easy safety target, great blocker for our run game. Goedert can have less wear and tear.

Been a long time, but wasn't Trent Cole sick right before his pro day? And also a 5th round pick...

I'm a huge Will Anderson guy, but this is apples to oranges imo

I love Kincaid but boy has he been beat up during his days at Utah.

There's also the milk carton guy.

He’s a player you create the scheme around.

It’d be interesting to know what franchises look for a player to fit their pre determined scheme rather than the more talented players they’d create a scheme around. Obviously there’s a happy medium for each franchise in which more teams lean more so one way than the other.

I’m interested to know what our new DC wants to do. If he’s looking at running a base 4 man front then a guy like Van Ness or Abke(whatever) out of Northwestern would probably be better fits than Nolan Smith. However,  not too many pass rushers are running sub 4.4…

I’ve definitely always preferred getting the best players and building the scheme around them.

Yea, he was sick and lost a ton of weight which dropped his stock. He played at 260

Having Smith and #7 would be nutty.

When you look at Trent Cole, the guy had a serious base and room to grow.  Both Cole and Hugh Douglas just had enormous thighs and thick lower halves that were imperative to their style of playing DE. They were both able to add bulk.

When I look at Will Anderson, I see an athlete with a lean muscle build.  I don't think it will be easy for him to pack on any sustainable and useable weight.  He might rock up a little bit but all that's going to do is make him more cut up.  I think Anderson is a helluva player and by all accounts he's an even better man and teammate.  Would have no issue if he was an Eagle.  Just need realistic expectations for what kind of player he is going to be.
