Rich Eisen once only mock draft for 2023:

gOegXGL.jpg

Im all aboard the Jalen Carter train. Let’s just make this happen, dude is a quintessential eagle player. Dline has been our identity since inception, and it’s been specifically the Fletcher Cox era over the last decade. Let’s keep this train moving. Anytime you have a chance at the best pass rushing DT you shoot for the moon; super rare asset. This is why Hargrave gets DMVP money, Simmons has no chance to even hit FA, and Donald is treated like Michael Jordan.

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

After listening to Solak and sheil talk about their mock drafts, i love DJ Turner even more. makes a lot of sense in the second round if he still available. He can play all corner spots. Which means when Maddox inevitably gets hurt this year, you can put him in the slot. he can play on the outside if slay or Bradberry doesn’t make it through the season, which sheil’s analytics he brought up the last podcast makes me feel he potentially is gonna get some significant snaps. he can go out there and start on the outside and likely be competent.

If he’s there at 10 and they feel comfortable with his character, I’m fine with it. I wouldn’t give up assets to get him though.

Clearly the Texans are planning on drafting jj watt at 2

i assume with Stafford being hurt and murray that’s why they are lower than lance, love and and Daniel jones

Turner didn't have to face WRs #1 most of the year at Michigan and is tiny

in that PC Howie also acknowledged that they primarily draft linemen, that it's no secret everyone knows. His "unique" comment was in response to being asked about the narrative that they don't take RB or LB in round 1.  His answer was basically saying BPA, you don't just pick for a certain position, you have to be open minded about the pick regardless of position to take a unique player.  He said there are so few unique players in any draft.  He said it's important that whoever they pick is someone that can really impact the game.  I took all that as top prospect, blue chip type player that can change the franchise.  Not "unique" as far as freak physical attributes or something.

Of course he's not really going to reveal anything about their draft plans though.  They ask every chance they get and he talks about the process, value, etc. but is never going to tip anything.

Jalen Reagor sure was a unique player.  They weren't locked in on a specific position at all with that one.  BPA all the way!

Better yet, if the Vikings truly are in the running for Hooker, and I have no idea if they are, just speculation on my end, they should be looking to jump over both Tennessee and Houston to get to 10.  The Eagles could get a haul from them jumping from 23 to 10.

The chances of that happening are probably as good as RR suggesting drafting a player to play his natural position, but it's a fun scenario to think about.

my arguments to get players have to do with the bonus that they bring in addition to their normal position.   Others can and do often talk about the most famous players,  the top draft pick and who the team should take with the top draft pick based on the more normal criteria, how they play on the field.   That area is extensively covered by everybody.   It's covered by the small handful of media corporations that exist in the world today and it's covered by the vast majority here and on every football message board.   I talk about my things,  which include the high Ras or sparq which seems to have disappeared from the internet (freakbeast)  and what those players did that is different from what they did in their last year of school (versatile).   If 90% of the people who are here and everywhere else were talking about who was versatile and who was freakbeast,  I probably wouldn't be talking about that stuff.   I probably would be talking about things like who won awards or something.    These message boards are,  in general, a resource for the teams to use, whether they actually do or not,  and collectively, we cover a wide variety of ground.  I cover my areas,  and the teams might or might not care about the things that I like to cover.

He's not tiny.  6'1" I believe.  But does have short arms.

We just need a team of 53 players with an RAS of 10. The positions they wind up playing will take care of themselves.

yes,  make sure they're also versatile, not just freakbeasts.   Do the Eagles not have good coaches?  Coach em up!

I'm going to predict even if Jalen Carter is on the board at #10, the Eagles leave him on the board.

Howie answered the question about Carter in the PC by saying they would go with what Dom DiSandro says about any off-field concerns and they trust his team's judgement -- so he's either on their board or off their draft board entirely.  My hunch is, even if Dom clears him that he's not at the top of the Eagles list.  I think he's overrated as a prospect but to me it will come down to character.

The Eagles missed on both the Dillard and Reagor picks, not because they were bad guys, because they didn't live and breathe football.  I've been hearing a lot leading up to the draft from these prospects that they're being asked "how much do you love football?".  I think it's fair to say both Dillard and Reagor were not all business all the time.  Dillard was beaten out by a 7th round pick who wanted to be great, and Reagor kept saying a lot on social media about wanting to prove people wrong, but proved people right with what he brought to the field.

Contrast with Hurts and DeVonta Smith.  I seriously doubt either of these guys even go to parties.  Smith gives off the Jerry Rice "all business all the time" vibe, as does Hurts.  The jury is still out on Jordan Davis, but he seems more quiet and down to business as well.  I think the success the Eagles have had with Hurts and Smith will shape some of what they look for and draft in the near term.

Carter has a lot of red flags that have been discussed.  Even ignoring the racing episode, I think the part that will turn the Eagles off are the reports of poor practice habits and the poor Pro Day performance.  Add the stuff McShay reported about "not taking care of his business the right way"

IMO if Howie is picking at 10 and it's a choice between Carter and Nolan Smith, he'll pick Nolan Smith all day.  It wouldn't be my favorite pick but that's the way I think it will go.

Witherspoon is  same size. I like Witherspoon but if you are gonna put on turner for being tiny then you are gonna have to say the same about Witherspoon. Both are 5’11 roughly 180. I am also not taking him in the first round. I’m paying him in the late second round. And I’m counting on his athleticism, which is really good to make up for some of that size.

Thats an awful, awful ranking of QBs.

I’m not even a Kyler Murray fan. But I think he should be ahead of guys like Daniel Jones, Jordan, love, Brock, Purdy, or train Lance and even Geno Smith. Geno Smith, the second half of the year was not nearly as good as he was the first half of the year. I could argue that Kyler Murray has had couple seasons close to Geno Smith’s 2022. the only reason why I think they have them that low is because they probably don’t expect him to play until like November. Because if it’s not that that’s ridiculous that he’s at 12 and I don’t even like Kyler Murray.

Witherspoon doesn't play 180 though. As a Michigan fan, nothing about Turner jumped off the page watching him all year. 3rd best CB for Michigan behind Johnson and Sainristil

Witherspoon checked in at 181 at the combine. He doesn’t play like it doesn’t mean he holds up in the nfl at 180 pounds. And his style in the nfl against bigger and stronger players can lead him to having more injuries over his career than a guy who’s super athletic and isn’t as physical. I love Witherspoon but i wouldn’t take him top 5 of this draft cause i think his style at his size in the nfl is likely going to lead him to missing games

you can feel that way with your other points. It’s why he’s not going higher with his athletic testing. No one is taking Turner round 1. If we were talking round 1 i wouldn’t love him. However his testing and potential upside in late round two is completely different. Also because he can play all corner positions you allow maddox to be moved around like they’ve tried to do last year and Desai may also want to do.
