No doubt there are some folks that do enjoy the human interest stories.  But to water down the draft to be so focused on them when I think it's safe to say the majority of the fans want football content is a mistake.  They have it on 3-4 channels now...why not have one channel focus on the human interest sob stories, and the rest can give us the football content we want.

2023 marketing in a nutshell.  Cater to the minority, ignore the majority, lifelong users/fans.

I don’t think they’re catering to the minority, but they’re trying to be all things to all people. It doesn’t work well. If they want to do that, have one broadcast do all of the human interest stuff and leave NFLN to the hardcore fans.

Big pressure on Jordan Davis this season to take a Year 2 jump and show the Eagles and their fans why he was traded up for.  I don't think he has time to chaperone anybody.

I'm going to throw out a take and you tell me if you agree or disagree.

Paris Johnson or Skoronski starting 4 games at RT in place of a banged up Lane Johnson for the Eagles in 2023 would be more valuable to the Eagles than Bijan Robinson starting 17 games for the Eagles.

My case: the Eagles record without Lane Johnson is pretty horrendous(some of it is contextual admittedly, but still) and the Eagles tend to have a successful running game no matter who is in their backfield.

Johnson, maybe. Skoronski, no. The former needs some coaching and to get stronger but I believe he'll get there. The latter has a hard ceiling and I think he's already reached it. Regardless, there will be a big drop-off between Lane and whoever replaces him.

100%. Don't put that burden on Davis or Dean.  If Carter doesn't have a good work ethic then pass. It's that simple

2 of my favorite players , Diaby and Abdullah , both very underrated , both quality pass rushers .

So we've been on the opposite end of the spectrum regarding Carter. I'm still wanting someone to tell me why he's the can't miss, must have player in this draft. Can you explain why you want him or even better, why you'd even move up to get him?  I'd love to be sold on him because there's a chance he is the guy.  I watched UGA during the season and never understood the hype.  I've scoured through every highlight tape leading up to the draft and while there are some impressive plays, there aren't nearly enough that tells me he's worth moving up for or worth taking despite the concerns.

We all know the red flags and they've been discussed a ton. On top of all of those, one of the biggest concerns for me, even if he is a high character guy, is the report out there that he doesn't have a passion for the game.  That's what I've felt since day 1 watching him.  Visually, he seems unhappy on the field.  The Eagles just went through that with Andre Dillard.  This coaching staff is all about "guys who love ball".  Carter, if those reports are true, is not that guy.

If you were to watch Jalen Carter highlights, followed by Keeanu Benton highlights, can you tell me there's a huge gap between the two players?

I'm also WAY more excited about next years DL class than this years.

I'm not going to say he can't miss but I will say that if it happens it will be because of off-field stuff or injury. As a player he's head and shoulders above any player in this draft, IMHO, a perfect 3-tech DT who can also 2-gap. He's get quickness, strength, technique, and smarts. I truly do not understand how anyone who looks at his film does not see this. I feel like it's confirmation bias at work: people are looking for reasons NOT to take him and are manufacturing them.

I'm reminded of something Ulysses Grant said about Robert E. Lee.: "Oh, I am heartily tired of hearing about what Lee is going to do. . . Go back to your command, and try to think what we are going to do ourselves, instead of what Lee is going to do.”

I agree his film is very good.  But work ethic issues have doomed a lot of top picks in the past.

Yup, and this translates to the field too.  When you watch Carter, he has natural strength, athleticism and power, but he lacks some of the most basic football technique.  If he's at UGA, winning multiple National Championships and still hasn't worked to fix his technique, what makes anyone think he's going to make the effort to do so in the NFL?

He simply hasn't shown he has any work ethic or desire to be the best he can be.  He 's gotten by on his natural gifts and that won't work in the NFL.  Add to that the reports that he doesn't love football and you have a player who is destined to be a bust.

I see a player with terrible technique.  I see power and athleticism but I see next to no technique.  See above post about a player who's been deemed as lazy with a questionable love for the game and I don't see why we should expect him to improve his technique moving forward.

The guy wasn't really wrong though...taking Gabbert would have let them know earlier that both of them suck.  Instead they hung onto Cam till his shoulder fell off and they're scrambling now.

Nah.  Gabbert never played well in the NFL. Cam, while his style didn't match my preference for a QB, and he took far too many hits and it prematurely ended his effectiveness as a QB...  he did play well enough to take the Panthers to a Super Bowl.  They are scrambling now, but that's 12 years ago.  Rarely does a draft pick from 12 years prior fix an issue with a position in the present.

Did drafting Danny Watkins ruin the Eagles' OL for 2023?  Did drafting JJ Watt or Ryan Kerrigan fix the pass rush issues for the Texans and Washingteam moving into 2023?

I also can't stand the whole NFL production of the event. The delays in reading the cards, the special guests, the contest winning fans that step out and say, "YO <insert team> NATION!" ... the chimps that touch screens ... The transvestite hermaphrodite flag football league championship team ---  make sure you don't miss some demographic!

Please stop with unnecessary garbage

I enjoy the contest winning fans.  That’s "Everyman” participation.  I also enjoy the former player participation.  But the best moment of the production is the booing of Goodell, like a bunch of men who Goodell helped increase their billions care that the fans hate him.  Nice to have a target for the things we believe the NFL gets wrong.

What?  😲

No. Just no.

As good a swim move as I've ever seen. Excellent lateral movement. Powerful hands. Stays on his feet. Knee bender. Reads blockers extremely well.

Just no.

Just no.

Remember, we're just seeing his highlights, like any player leading to the draft.  He does make some plays where he uses a great swim move, no arguing there.  One of his more impressive plays is the back-to-back swim move play against TCU.  I don't associate lateral movement, powerful hands, staying on feet and being a knee bender as technique, I look at all of those coming from being an exceptional athlete, which he is.

More often than not, on non-highlight plays, he looks lazy, he leans on the OL, he doesn't hustle.  It's easy to find non-highlight plays by watching Nolan Smith, Nakobe Dean, Jordan Davis and countless other UGA defender highlights.  You can see him on plays dragging.

He turns it on when he wants to or when he has a burst of energy.  I don't like that.  I want all out hustle from the first to last whistle.

Yea and I want Jordan Davis to worry about Jordan Davis right now. Not keeping others in line.

Draft chart boys... At what position in the top 10 would the following trades get them?

1. 10+30

2. 10+62+94

Absolutely agree, but plenty of uber athletes have flamed out for a lack of hard work and love of the game.  That concern about Carter is real and if he drops, that is the reason why.  By the same token, some players where that was a concern put their nose to the grindstone when they realize the income they can enjoy with the effort.  Hopefully if the Eagles pursue him they have done their homework on him. Nowadays, how the player uses the offseason matters in building and maintaining an NFL body.

10+30 should get you to 3 or 4

10+62+3rd about 5

Passing on Bijan will be passing on multiple championships.

We talked about jersey templates a while back and how that effects the Eagles colors and such. Nike has released their latest template, the Vapor F.U.S.E. and as always, it makes things worse. What you'll notice with the Eagles, and any team with wordmark on the collar/chest, is the new neckline and seems push the wordmarks down and cram them close to the number. Good article about it here.

In the next few years, yes.  Eagles have a window of an elite offense they need to take advantage of and beat way to do that would be to add Bijan to the mix.  Especially when the NFC is so depleted of good QBs.  We might have the best offense in the league with Bijan added to the fold.

Would you guys do 10 and 62 for 13 and 42?
