November 4, 20241 yr I have a couple thoughts on MI. We now have another right-leaning pollster showing a shift to Harris in MI in the last 24 hrs. This one issuing a revision and conceding that he has been undersampling women and minorities. Not sure if this revision was based on early voting numbers, other recently released midwest polls (i.e. Selzer), or something else entirely, but it's something to keep in mind. Speaking of early voting, MI has some pretty good early voting numbers broken out at the county level, and if the early vote here is any indication of turnout, things are looking good for Harris there based on the assumption that turnout patterns won't shift too wildly at the county level on Tuesday. In other words, unless the low turnout counties vastly outweigh the ones already showing high turnout, I think she's in relatively good shape even if she underperforms Biden's numbers in 2020. The counties with the highest turnout so far were mostly counties that Biden carried by 5 pts or more like Oakland, Wayne, Kent, etc. That, coupled with the percentage of female early voters means she should have a decent lead on what's banked in so far. Things could obviously change quickly since nobody really knows how election day turnout patterns this year will compare with early voting and mail ins, but it would take a somewhat significant shift for things to tilt in his favor.
