I didn't vote for him to be the candidate but that's how the system works (unless the party just appoints a candidate with no vote). I'd rather the voters get the say even if it doesn't turn out how I wanted it to. Too bad the heads of the Democratic party didn't feel the Democratic voters would pick the correct candidate. We'll find out (hopefully in the next few days) if their instincts were correct. The popular vote doesn't mean anything for winning an election. Maybe you are right, perhaps the Republicans should follow the Dems lead and not let the public pick their candidate. I think that makes sense for people who want bigger, more intrusive government, just let the government pick the candidates, that will be fun.
