If the US actually had any semblance of effective foreign policy on either side then it would have been over for the Russians before it started. Now, instead of getting some of what they needed, they will get nothing. To think otherwise is asshattery.

But they’ve been re-organizing their economy sans Russia. Look at Europe — they are ALL re-arming in response to the Ukrainian war. Even Germany. The situation in Ukraine is absolutely tragic, but in the end I think it forced European’s hands in a way that needed to happen. The fact is we need Europe to re-arm and take on the brunt of Russian deterrence so that the US can focus on the Pacific and China.

One of the hysterical outcomes has been the turn back to coal, especially in Germany. I agree they won’t normalize trade with Russia after any peace deal. That bridge is burned.

The Russian state actually started out as Kievian Rus. Ethnically and religiously, you have Russian Orthodox people in the eastern part of the country, and Roman Catholics in the rest of the country. The borders are fluid. A bad settlement is better than a hot war. Let both parties declare victory, iron out the terms of peace and stop the fighting. Never thought I'd see the day where liberal democrats became war mongers. You people would have been cheering LBJ on during the Vietnam War. You don’t get it either. When it was Kievan Rus, Washington DC was Piscataway. Times change. They are not the same. Putin crossed the line in Ukraine. If we don’t defend it, who will? Where does it end?
November 6, 20241 yr Harris rally completely emptied out. Basically a concession without officially conceding

It’s a war of attrition and Russia has more men and Chinese manufacturing behind them. If nukes didn’t exist we could of course wipe the floor with them, but nukes do exist, so we won’t risk a direct confrontation. It is what it is.
November 6, 20241 yr I haven't paid super close attention, why hasn't Minnesota been called? That's RELIABLY dark blue. It was the only state to go for Mondale in 1984. Why is it still uncalled?
November 6, 20241 yr Also. I am half a bottle of 110 proof deep right now, so I reserve the right to discard any opinions I state in the future.

November 6, 20241 yr Pennsylvania should get called soon. Only about 600k votes left and Trump has a 280k vote lead

November 6, 20241 yr Liberalism in this country is completely broken. 2016 felt like a much-needed wakeup call to shift away from identity politics. Then what do they convince Joe Biden to do - pick a running mate based solely on her being a black woman, ignoring that she's the least authentic person in a room of inauthentic people. Then years later when they oust him, they're too scared to have someone jump her because they don't wanna spark the outrage machine. Then she goes out and does all she can to check off every minority identity on the pandering checklist. And now they're shocked that white voters don't like her. Madness. Some idiot on the CBS coverage literally said, "Dems are losing seats in Congress - while the political party diversity in Congress is fading, Congress is actually getting more diverse (lists black and Hispanic Republicans)." Absolute Fing idiots. Clarence Thomas is the most racíst old white man I can think of, but these morons probably wanna kiss his feet for getting out of bed in the morning.
