You said it was for your mothers birthday and she is a vegetarian.  If you want to do something special (and can get enough people together who don't mind a pricer meal and can commit to it well in advance), don't rule out Talula's.  They WILL make accommodations for vegetarians.  For my 40th we ate at the chefs table (RIP) and they made arrangements for my aunt who is a pescatarian

Good to know. This was kind of last minute. I came to town for a surprise we got dad, and it coincided with the weekend before mom's birthday.

This was the long term gaffe that was the most damaging, IMO.

When Biden ran in 2020 it was with the purpose of defeating Trump, and he succeeded because he was the most "central" of the Democratic candidates -- but the guy was in his late seventies; it should have been established he would be a one-term President and a succession plan should have been developed.  Him deciding to stay on for another term when voters were telling the Democrats in very clear terms (for more than one year) that he was too old and didn't have support was their undoing.

It was plain to everyone long before the debate that Biden was slowing down, both physically and mentally.  Simple malpractice they left themselves only 100 days to the general election without a clear successor.  People can argue Harris was always the clear successor -- I disagree.  With a formal primary or open convention I don't think there's any way Harris would have been chosen over someone like Shapiro or Gavin Newsom.
