White collar workers like "lawyers" should have a higher age for eligibility than blue collar workers who beat their bodies up and have shorter lifespans. Sounds good? Better idea. Just end Social Security and kill the Ponzi scheme already. Make people responsible for their own retirements. EDIT: in all seriousness, your second proposal would be a Constitutional violation of the equal protection clause. You'd have to base it on income. It's also terrible policy.

How do you just end it though? I've paid into the scheme for 45 years and I'm 4 1/2 years from being able to have 2 incomes without limitations. I'll get screwed of course, nothing new.

But government and organized religion consist of humans. Humans that the founders knew could not be trusted with power Judge not, and you will not be judged. He's not the model, but God uses imperfect people like I mentioned with Paul who wanted to murder Christians. I'm proud that he is calling for us to pray (if we choose) and once again become one nation under God. As you said they believed in providence. Freedom of religion does not mean freedom from religion.

We're all electric. Had one of those attached to the trailer we were renting in Scotland back in 1991, except it was coin operated. You'd be taking a shower, the water would suddenly go cold and you'd have to get out and go outside to stick another 50pence into the machine. Worked great otherwise.

We've been wanting one for a while. The current one is OLD. Like "replace in 2008" old. So the bathtub in the master primary bath can't even be filled up all the way anymore. We considered an electric one but that would have required a rewiring effort. That wouldn't have been a dealbreaker, but when we had the back up battery for the house installed, we added the water heater to the sub panel. So during an outage we could still have hot water. If we had an electric, that wouldn't have been possible.

Those currently getting benefits remain unchanged, those above 55 but not yet getting benefits get a much smaller amount.

They could at least give people a tax credit between 18 and 55 to balance it out a bit.But yeah they will have to screw some people. It's probably the only way.
