Pro tip from your betters:  An EV's frunk is an excellent place to transport all your cold goods together.

That sounds like something I might like. Tell me more.

I do the grocery shopping too.  If I had to guess I spend about $250 a week (so around $13,000 a year on groceries)

Sounds about right. I do have a house of 5 but we also order out a fair bit.

I mean it depends on what you're getting if you're getting top shelf ultra pasteurized, organic, grass-fed butter yes; esp ghee.

But if you get the cheap 💩 that I get at walmart and aldi you pay just over $1

The way things are going I just have to retire from the navy so I can have the commissary as an option. Bc even some of the top shelf brand names there are cheaper than store brands in other stores. But free trips to Italy are also a selling point; I hope I get Naples this year :excited:

Yeah - real actual butter is way more $$ than that fake ish like in the bottom pic there.

Well yeah, but that stuff has always been expensive. It's not like the organic stuff was recently $3 and jumped up to $8.

Even generic "real" butter is like 3-4 bucks right now.

I just realized its fake butter..but it looks the same so oh well

I'm frugal and will at least try store brands before I spend a little extra

Oh butter is too expensive? I'm sure a bunch of tariffs will really help to drive down those prices.

I'm screwed with my Irish butter but most is domestic, so yeah...

Switch to coconut oil.

For all of the hand wringing I've heard over grocery prices, I've barely noticed a difference in MY grocery bills. But I'm like you, generic unless it's a clear taste difference.

Now I will say, when I look at the name brand stuff it has definitely gone up. I think a small package of Oreos is like $6.50. I'm sorry, but if you're whining about grocery prices and still spending that type of money on Oreos I have no sympathy for you.

If the cost of all imported butter increases, thereby reducing competitive price pressures, you think the price of domestic butter will decrease rather than increase? Is that how you think it works?

Same. But I only use butter for certain things. Chicken soup for example. Mostly I use EVOO (which is expensive as it is)

but i would think something like that is domestically sourced. But if the cost of imports increase then they may spread it around to other products and not just the  directly impacted products.

The same here. I haven't had sticker shock since the end of 2022 early 2023 so for me as far as groceries goes the prices have stabilized. But I know that may not be the case everywhere else in the country especially areas experiencing high incidents of organized shoplifting.

I get a huge thing of EVOO from Costco every couple months. Definitely the way to go as far as I'm concerned.

Taxing imports of a commodity make the cost of that commodity increase, even if that same commodity is domestically sourced. It just means the increase won't keep pace with the costs of the imported ones.

Do you think Republicans actually think kids were going to get sex changes at school if Kamala won?

I think more stores will stop carrying the imported butter.
