The inflation rate really started taking off in 2021 as you can see below: There were 2 main drivers behind this. The first, as you guys have discussed, was massive demand driven by profligate government stimulus under both the Trump and Biden administrations -- I'd put more blame on Biden here as Trump in 2020 was reacting to a once in a lifetime event. There was no need for Biden to do another round of free money, and the Fed also held rates at zero at the same time (took them there at the beginning of the pandemic). So this meant there were people flush with cash and the ability to borrow cheaply, so demand was sky high. The other part of the equation is China basically shut down in 2021 (https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2021/09/02/1033396323/china-is-imposing-strict-lockdowns-to-contain-new-covid-outbreaks-but-theres-a-c). This made it impossible to get consistent supply out of the country. Companies we invested in were basically having to secure delivery slots 4-6 months in advance and pay exorbitant prices just to try and get supply. It was utterly bananas in 2021 and 2022, and companies were bidding each other up for limited supply. Strong demand + limited supply = massive inflation. But you can't talk about the inflation of 2021-2022 ad ignore the issues with the supply chain. Frankly, that was the much larger problem. Supply shocks have been the cause of massive inflation in the US historically (OPEC embargo) - we've had low rates and free money forever. COVID was free money on steroids, but it doesn't get nearly that bad without China shutting down. I know a lot of businesses were bishing a lot last year about not being able to afford CAPEX. Do you think the fed kept the rates too high for too long, or do you think they more or less made the right call?

No, I dont think the photos are fake, though only one is from a legit school setting, the other is from a parking lot so possibly college or somewhere else, and the other is from someone's bedroom. Not exactly a ton of evidence if you're trying to claim it's widespread enough that it's been happening in schools all over the country for over a decade. There are blog posts about anything, that doesn't make them evidence of anything. There is zero barrier of entry for anyone to write a blog post about whatever they feel like. For example, I could write a blog post tonight about how adult men that go to outdoor Hanson concerts in 2021 have such low levels of testosterone that they can't possibly impregnate a human female, but that wouldn't make any of it true. Pretty sad that I have to explain this to you, but not all that surprising given your track record here. I don't even know what daily mail article you're talking about but that Read Lion one seems like a laughable source as I already pointed out. Not that the Daily Mail has been some bastion of journalistic integrity themselves. And as I already said, I don't think Rambo, his kid, or others here are lying. I think the more likely explanation is that there are rumors going around about some kids at school which get distorted and then evenutally relayed to some of the parents. I know this because I've just seen it happen with my kids who heard that a kid from another district was murdered when the actual (tragic) story was that a tree fell on him at a school function. A more recent one from a few weeks ago was that a group of 8th girls were planning to host a Diddy party at one of their houses because someone overheard them making some chant on the bus about "lubing up" or some sheet. This all started because someone claimed this is a widespread thing all of the sudden. That has been my argument all along. After people started saying "Oh, I never said it was a widespread thing" I don't care to argue as much. Finding a few kids wearing tails on the internet means almost zero to what was initially being claimed.

I think the Fed kept rates too low for way too long, and that has skewed everyone's perceptions -- companies, investors, lenders, everyone. 5% SOFR isn't really that high, but after over a decade of rock bottom rates, it felt like hell to a generation of executives and investors that have only known cheap money. Cheap money leads to bad investments because ROIs don't need to be very high. This is a chart of the upper bound of the overnight rate back 20 years -- we were at 0-0.25% for 7 years FFS. No one was really whining about rates back in 2005/2006. At this point, I think the normal rate will have to be 3-3.5%, unfortunately.

Rye college (in the UK BTW) literally came out after that and said this: Quote But the school has said that "no children at Rye college identifies as a cat or any other animal” and apologised to parents for the handling of the original discussion. I don't even have an issue with it honestly (besides allowing them to use the boys room), it's just funny to me. My boy doesn't have a phone yet. Can't be trusted and most of these kids use snap which deletes them message after a certain time frame. So I was under the impression they were furries until my boy came home a corrected me and explained the difference between therian and furry. It's friggen hilarious, imo. Rambo explicitly and directly says he didn't think it was rampant. And here was mini-mes response: 20 hours ago, we_gotta_believe said: Sure, or it could also just be a story that started with a grain of truth and was embellished for effect every time it was retold. And then you both kept pushing back on Rambo's kid's story saying it wasn't true for some reason.
