Great movie, saw it when I was fairly young, maybe like 4th or 5th grade. And yeah I grew up a bit naive to how racist some parts of the country still are. I was shocked to find out like 10-15 years ago that high schools in Georgia still had segregated proms.

I didn't even know racism was a thing till I was out of highschool. Never heard my mom or dad say a bad thing about any race.... I was in for a rude awakening when I really opened my eyes. I've never heard my dad say the N word in my life ( I'm 43 now) until 2016.... I wonder what made him feel ok being able to freely say it like it's ok now. 🤔

Let me add that living in Mississippi for a year was eye opening in a lot ways. Not just because of the KKK rallies on the weekends in the Edgewater Mall parking lot.
