September 20, 20241 yr Interesting thought experiment -- if the GOP had a set of balls and some integrity, they would have rejected Trump after January 6th. Had they done that, in a truly wide open GOP Primary field, I wonder who would have emerged. Haley's support came primarily from never Trumpers, so I don't think she would have won. DeSantis likely would have toned down the stupidity (like the Disney stuff), and as a well liked Governor, I'm guessing he gets the nomination. Meanwhile, if Trump were gone, I think Biden would not have sought the nomination -- Biden always made clear he saw stopping Trump as his mission. So an open Democratic primary ends with...Whitmer? Shapiro? I don't think Harris gets it. In an alternate world, we have normal DeSantis vs. Whitmer IMO. Much better options.

Pretty close. The mountains are outstanding if you are into that kind of thing. Same for CO around Denver and RMNP. That's why Ty Burrell, Post, and others have moved here and stayed. Redford bailed to his ranch in WY with how crowded it's getting. It was nice and quiet where I am before the townhomes and CA influx. It's still not bad, but it's going in the wrong direction. The SLC valley is another story. That's going to crap fast, and they are moving my way because of it.

If the GOP decided to "have a set of balls" and reject the most popular candidate in their party by an overwhelming margin. Sounds very democracy-y.

Don't know that Whitmer would be that much better than Harris, tbh, but yea at least it takes the absolute most dogshit candidate off the table.

Unfortunately the conference I was attending was at the Chateaux Deer Valley, which was kind of old and crappy.

His personality would've sunk him no matter what. Too awkward. Republicans have no problem with a dude that's mind is mush but they're not okay with awkward. Agree on Haley though, she never had a chance in the new GOP, with or without Trump. So, I'll go with a Tucker Carlson/Kyle Rittenhouse ticket.

Which is funny because of how much money is there. Next time you are in town have your driver head up the road that winds south east of the hotel. You'll be able to see 3 valleys from the road if it's not winter.

Yeah, growing up near the city, I never learned to ski, so I don't do that. I prefer the summer, and after hiking up some of those mountains and barely being able to keep my balance because they are vertical, I have no desire to fly down them on skis.

Yes, most of Harris' policy positions are terrible, but they're within the normal bounds of progressive idiocy. Things like offering down payment assistance to 1st time homebuyers, or cracking down on price gouging (which doesn't exist), and of course raising taxes on the people who already pay all the taxes in this country. These are all bad ideas, just like most of what Biden did made things worse. But worse within normal parameters. Trump, by the way, has adopted a lot of these awful policies, specifically price controls. And he adds the idiocy of tariffs that would make Bernie Sanders proud. You know what Harris doesn't support? Handing Ukraine to Russia. Leaving NATO. Withdrawing from America's vital role as leader of the free world post WW2. Placating tyrants. Oh...and she didn't attempt a friggin coup. So enough with the both sides crap. Harris sucks, and Trump is infinitely worse. Harris is herpes, but Trump is full blown AIDS. Trump- bad for other countries. Kamala-bad for our country. I'll take the one who will help our country and let the next president fix some of his F ups internationally.
