boom. The stars are aligning. Literally and figuratively. LeBron and Durant summer of 2024. Bigly.

Who has a better chance of upsetting the Celtics, Pacers or Knicks (assuming Mitchell and Baldonovic are health)?

Probably the Knicks. However i don’t think that Knicks pacers series is gonna be easy for the Knicks. Pacers can score and have pretty good talent. They are just young and inexperienced in the playoffs. It’s why i thought they looked as bad as they did in game 1 and much better since. Wouldn’t be shocked if that one goes 6.

Porziņgis getting hurt last night and being serious or Celtics just playing iso ball instead of running an offense in clutch minutes. No one should have a shot in the East.

Door opens a bit if he is hurt

I always though porzingis would be hurt and the bucks wouldn't be that good this year.

This was wide open for the 6ers in the east.  More than ever.  And they blew it.

hes a poopy head but I'll take some championships. The unfortunate reality is he is the most perfect 4 man you could possibly think of to play next to Embiid. I just think it would work. He could coast through a season on easy mode and produce more than Harris did. Sorta like Butler did here averaging around 16 or so. And then kick it up a notchin playoffs.

He isn't coming to Philly any more than Tim D was going to Orlando every time they took him to Disney World. They are all going to Miami.

Tbh even if porzingis is hurt, they are likely still favorites in any series in the East. They’ll just move Horford into the starting lineup and have jrue, white, brown, Tatum and Horford. Then use  kornet more off the bench. It’s not as ideal as porzingis but really they likely are still favorites entering that series but just much harder than if they had porzingis.

White is the most important guy on the Celtics besides Tatum. If he goes down, it’s over.

Not just the offense shooting 26% with embiid off the floor but defensively the Knicks are shooting 64% inside the paint with Embiid off. When Embiid is on it drops to 46%

Celtics went out and traded 2nds for Xavier Tillman during the trade deadline as well.

What a bold and outlandish idea of trading for reserves in case your starters get hurt.

I’d argue jrue for the reasons you saw last year. The Celtics ran into trouble last year when Tatum and brown tend to have higher turnover issues.

Yes, but the Celtics were all in for this year. The Sixers never were from the start of the offseason. Like last offseason they showed you they weren’t going all in on 2023-24 so they’d have a chance at near 2 max slots in 2024 offseason

Plus at the trade deadline they had no clue whether or not Joel Embiid was actually going to return. They hoped he would be back by the beginning of April. But there was also the chance that he wasn’t and they weren’t gonna go all in on a roster with Embiid questionable or how he was gonna look when he came back. Again, I have a harder time faulting them for that as they stuck to their original plan. If he was healthy at the deadline, I think your point is way more valid to go all in if you believe they could win. But Joel Embiid getting hurt the week before makes it much harder to go all in and then blow up your 2024 offseason plans for hope he’d be back and hope he’d look like he did prior to the injury.

conversely, if they did make those moves and Joel Embiid didn’t return, everybody on here would’ve been upset that they pissed away their 2024 off-season potential on a season where you didn’t even know if Joel Embiid was gonna come back and if he did what he was gonna look like when he came back.

Jrue is pretty washed.

But you still get a back up for Embiid, thinking Reed at 6'7" is enough is laughable knowing his injury history. Drummond signed for 2/6 million in the off season, basically peanuts. But decided to give Mo Bamba 2.6 million when he has shown zero ability to play in the league.

Has nothing to do with all in this year, it's Morey consistent failures on roster building.

Celtics just gave him 135 million and Brad Stevens just won executive of the year today lol

If they don’t win it this year, they might separate the J’s. They won’t be that different than the Sixers than.

What backup center was out there on a one year deal to not screw up 2024 that was going to be a major difference? No offense it’s not just Reed when Embiid is off the floor. The entire team is shooting 26% (if you take Paul reed’s scoring/shooting out the rest of the team without Embiid is shooting 22.6%) when he’s off the floor and 60.9 offensive rating. No offense not sure any backup center is changing that. Maybe defensively they are better and improvement rebounding but offensively Embiid off the floor is far more than just Paul Reed. I believe Maxey with Embiid off the floor is shooting 25% less (55% with Embiid and 30.7% without Embiid)

Imo Kyle Lowery shouldn’t be starting at 38, he should be a bench guy playing 15-20. Kelley Oubre is better off the bench than as a starter. For a minimal contract you maximized his value. That signing looks way better now with how he’s played this season. Tobias Harris is awful and should not be starting anymore. They should’ve dealt him for expiring contract role players. They’d have gotten more out of them than him. Hield has fallen off the face of the planet. I don’t think anybody could’ve predicted that he fall off the face of the planet. Nicholas batum has not shown up. Cam Payne has arguably been their best bench player this series. So when we just say well you have to do better than Paul reed, i don’t disagree. However, when you have guys that shouldn’t be starting and you have bench players that haven’t been remotely good either it’s not just Paul Reed when Joel Embiid off the court.  This entire bench has garbage and at least one guy who should not be starting but is due to melton being hurt

This is their offense with Embiid off the court. No offense to Drummond he’s not making that big of a difference when everyone sucks offensively with Embiid off the floor

HE was right. This team was a major contender with this roster this year. Of course, injuries got us again. This team IF healthy would be a finals contender.

Joel, Maxey, Melton, Oubre, Batum, Roco, Payne

meh...i think the harden trade for expiring guys only showed that their real goal for this season was cap space.

Injuries havent helped. Melton allows Lowry to be a bench guy which really would help the bench right now. Instead he’s forced to be a starter which isn’t ideal. Also Roco allows you another guy that help keep oubre, Harris and batum fresher

Also doesn’t help that buddy hield has completely forgotten how to play basketball. I’m not sure anybody could’ve predicted hield would not be playable in the playoffs. Or batum being pretty useless much of this series. Or that cam Payne is their best bench player. No offense but batum and hield scoring 5 baskets in 4 games is a major issue. And averaging a combined 4 ppg average this series. Paul Reed has been miserable in this series too. However replacing Reed with a backup center would help but there’s as big of issues with Embiid off the court besides backup center

I laid this out last off-season when the news came out that James Harden wanted to be traded. I specifically said as long as Joel Embiid is on board they are going into this season to stay competitive and they’ll make moves as long as it doesn’t F up their 2024 off-season. Their goal was be competitive and not Fing up 2024 offseason. Whether or not it was the right decision or works is a different set of questions. They were never gonna deviate from that. They definitely weren’t when Embiid went down right before the trade deadline. Not gonna risk their potential 2024 offseason goals on a maybe Embiid returns and maybe he’s what he was prior to the injury

The goals for their season was let’s see if Tyrese Maxey can be the Robin to embiid’s Batman, be competitive in the east and maybe get a good path/luck to the ECF and finals and not screw up our 2024 offseason plans.

Another reason is Maxey is not ready for the spotlight. He has shrunk or been passive in big moments. Maybe he will get there in a couple years but he doesn’t have that killer instinct yet.
