No wonder D. Watson liked him so much in Houston.

His loss if he doesn’t want to help add to Buffalo’s ring collection

Well, IMO, I'm not doing anything different with Smith and Brown, both of whom I think are, at this point, better than Hopkins. Hopkins said he'll retire when he isn't a 1000 yard receiver. Our WR3 isn't getting 1000 yards unless he's filling in for an injured Smith or Brown. So unless you think we should throw less to Smith and Brown, Hopkins likely won't be happy here. IMO, chemistry is more important than big names and I just don't see a way where signing Hopkins helps more than it hurts the team chemistry.

I also don't think Hopkins is "ring chasing" for what it's worth. He may not get a huge contract, but he isn't going to play for pennies either.

A few things…

First, I agree that Smith and Brown are probably better at this point.

As for the 1K mark, I agree he’s probably not a 1K receiver here but I think it could be closer than many would believe. I don’t think we will be as healthy this year as we were last year, so I would absolutely anticipate missing one of Brown/Smith for a minimum of 3 games this season. I also think Hurts is going to throw the ball more, so there should be more passes to go around. I also think that all 3 players might have fewer catches but higher YPC because our receiving group combined with Swift out of the backfield would put so much pressure on the defense.

Team chemistry… I think winning cures a lot of problems, and if he’s here to chase a ring, he’s going into it with the understanding that personal stats are going to take a back seat to wins. I think he’d put up a lot of TDs too.

Devon Allen apparently hurt his calf running hurdles per Ruben Frank.

Gee, who coulda seen that coming?

Not really a big concern. It would be great for Allen to have some kind of positive impact, but nobody should really be expecting it.  He's just a stone that wasn't left unturned. He'll turn 29 this year and still hasn't played in a regular NFL game.

Let’s not jump to conclusions about his calf. Might just be a minor hurdle he has to overcome

I'm guessing he will only be suspended a game or two. Probably won't affect our 2nd round pick from them much.

If so, Goodell is an ass.  Six games for betting on a player’s own devices on non NFL bets but a couple weeks for an assault resulting in hospitalization?!? If I was a players suspended for gambling, I would arbitrate challenging unequal treatment because an owner/GM has hosted a Supreme Court Justice at TC and games, may have flown him on his jet and in a prior role, gave him a Super Bowl ring.  That same owner has an ownership interest in a gambling site that reaped tremendous benefits by the Supreme Court legalizing gambling.  Whole thing reeks.  Remember, not just an owner but a GM.

"You're lower life scumbags more than anyone," Shasky raged on Tuesday's Morning Roast. "I'm sick of it. It's ok to be a dirty, crappy fan because you're in Philadelphia. If Niner fans did this, you know what they would file it under? Thugs."

Philly fans don’t tend to shoot or stab folks at their stadiums. Bay Area fans can’t say that.  F him.

I heard similarly from my friend who covers the cardinals. He really rubbed a lot of people the front way in his couple years down there.

Well then he'll definitely end up on the Browns if Watson hears about this.

Ugh.. late to the joke I see

When did this hatred for Philly originate?

I'm still thinking they are going for a full overhaul for 2024. I was thinking about it again. They are going with Nike's new jersey template for 2023. One of the most effected areas of the jersey is the chest wordmark. They easily could have put the new EAGLES wordmark on the 2023 jersey but they are still using the older wordmark. Makes no sense to me and the only explanation in my mind is they are waiting to unveil a whole new set in 2024.

It is possible.

I know for retail like Fanatics they will sell those jerseys with the old wordmark until they clear the inventory then go to the new wordmark when they finally do that. I bought a foles jersey back in 2014 before they played the cardinals out here. Got the 2013 style. Called fanatics saying I wanted the 2014 style with the collar as it was new and wanted it in my collection. They said they weren’t getting them until this inventory ran out. Unless it’s just a complete revamp of jersey (like Kelly green) and not just a wordmark they’ll just sell until it runs out.

Yea, I get that but even before the change in Nike template, the Eagles announced that the wordmark wouldn't be on uniforms for 2 years. The fact that they announced that sticks out to me.

Philly fans don't care much about preseason games.

Bay Area fans try to kill each other over preseason games.

The games are in Santa Clara , not SF. If they were still in SF there would be people defecating and shooting up. Santa Clara is a mellow area, but it is close to East San Jose. A whole different clientele than the ‘wine sippers’ of the 80’s and 90’s. They just had a stabbing at the Mexico National soccer team game.

There are a lot of Philly transplants in the area, but that stadium is set up for trouble.

It’s not a concern at all, I just think the whole thing is kinda silly especially since Allen isn’t taking his opportunity all that seriously anyway.

Y'know, there was even a question on Jeopardy the other night about the snowball incident involving Santa. The rest of the country just won't let that go.

Gee, who coulda seen that coming?

Disappointed that he did not run at the US T&F Championship.  Don't think it was a serious injury.  Now he can concentrate on the TC and be a football player.  Pending how this upcoming season goes, he could focus on making the Olympic team next year.

Well I did say Bay Area not SF.  "Philly” when referencing those that attend games isn’t limited to just Philadelphia.  Same for Bay Area.  In Philly, maybe a rare shove or fistfight but stabbings and shootings are more of a west coast thing. Yes, Philly fans will verbally express themselves but the reputation of Philly fans is way overblown.  In Cleveland they put batteries in their snowballs for Pittsburgh games.  Bills fans throw ****s.
