What would you say if I told you he was definitely the starting RG in 2024?

I started thinking about it, and if it's even between Jurgens and Steen, just give it to Steen this year. It feels like they are shoe-horning Jurgens in somewhere he doesn't belong, only to justify the high draft pick they used on him. Plus, how is it going to work with all the veteran rest days Kelce is going to take in TC and during the week in practice? He gets about every other day off, I don't want to be yo-yo'ing Jurgens back and forth between 2nd string C and RG.

Man, Training Camp needs to start already. Even the interns running the Eagles twitter are losing their mind with all the boredom.

Also, glad we get this but not any hints at Kelly Green Jerseys or anything else useful.

#3

#9.  There's an extra seat there.

I think Jurgens is just flat out better.  You put Jurgens at RG because he's simply better.  Everything I've read and seen from Steen since the draft is he's raw, imperfect, prone to mistakes and could really benefit to a year of developing.

Two words:  Recency bias.

It's why the likes of Mel Blount, Lester Hayes, Michael Haynes and Darrell Green (underrated, IMO) aren't on the list.  The person who tweeted that out is likely under the age of 40.

Agreed. Add Eric Allen to the list. Yea, a bit of a homer pick but he's a HOF player.

Playing OL as a rookie can be tough. Everyone says Seumalo is smart and like a coach on the field and even he had a 42.7 grade on PFF as a rookie,. I think that gives Jurgens a huge advantage in the competition. I would expect that Jurgens starts and Steen will play some at multiple positions.

What makes it worse is that there's stupid and then there's people who will agree with what stupid says because he's an NFL player.

I think 6 should be that the field wasn’t a swamp

This is tough. I think 7 is the easiest to eliminate. Even if he lived up to the hype, the rest of the dream team didn't. Nnamdi wasn't making or breaking that team. You could add Vick doesn't throw a terrible interception in the endzone.

A healthy Randall doesn't overcome the lack of coaching he had. The let's have Randall make 1-2 plays per game mindset was still there.

8 and 9 stick out to me because that was the absolute height of my Eagles fandom. Losing to the Bucs to close out the Vet was one of the worst feelings ever as an Eagles fan. Seeing what Donovan and TO could have been and then having it ripped away was a lot to overcome too.

#3 is easy to eliminate too. I liked watching both play for the Eagles, but getting rid of them is what caused the downfall of Chip which led to 2017. I'm not undoing a SB win for a potential SB win.

I want to launch #2 into the sun. Most overrated thing to ever happen to the team.

Sadly... not yet.

Well, that settles the discussion for me.

I meant that as he should be but in saying his career is HOF worthy.

Oh, I agree.  But, seeing as they haven't yet put him in the HOF yet, it would make an argument for him as the #1 CB ever a very tall order, especially right now.

Yea, I don't like his chances any time soon. Best case is when he's on his death bed or since passed he's a legacy pick or whatever they call it.

It’s just that time of the year

the fact Stafford and Wilson are top 10 when Stafford may or may not be healthy and he’s in his mid 30s and might be on the decline. Wilson was terrible last year. Add on I’d have hurts at least top 5 and probably top 3-4. I don’t think Lawrence has remotely done enough to be 4.

probably go

1. Mahomes

2. Burrow

3. hurts

4. Allen

5. herbert

6. Lawrence

7. rodgers

8. Lamar

9. Dak

10. cousins

(I’d argue tua if he wasn’t a concussion away and missed a lot of last year and Goff if he wasn’t completely night and day in the road the last 2 years)

* went Lawrence over rodgers as i think rodgers may begin to decline whereas Lawrence is ascending

He wasn't driving a car that was involved in the accident.  I am not sure whether he had a legal duty to remain at the accident. Even if he did remain, it seems unlikely that aid he could have provided would have lessened the injuries. I do hope he decides to pay for the injuries the victims sustained.

I would settle if a reasonable settlement could be reached if I were him. Likely with a summary judgment motion pending. But basically talking five figures with the dead athlete’s family and low five figures with Bowles.  Bowles presence carries a shadow of implied permission for Chandler.  As do alleged texts mentioned in her suit.  That’s bad for the athletic association and in the deceased athlete’s case, UGA.

I listened to like 10 mins of "Inside the Birds" and it was interesting to me that Caplan said Tyler Steen is "clearly the favorite" to win the RG spot. Good chance he's just talking out of his ass but I'm surprised how he made that statement with such certainty.

What about Driscoll?   Why isn't Driscoll in the mix for RG?  He's the veteran.  He has done well.  Sizewise, he's between Jurgens and Steen.  Driscoll has nice athleticism.

If you are choosing between Steen and Driscoll,  isn't Steen the natural size for backup, swing tackle?  He's sized between Mailata and Lane.  He's the size of a Tackle.  He was a tackle in college.   One could argue that Driscoll is a bit too small to be a backup tackle.

If,  years down the road,  Kelce and Lane are retired,  wouldn't  Jurgens - Center,  Driscoll - Right Guard, Steen - Right Tackle be the most realistic OL?

Steen is bigger,  has an excellent OG ras of 9.94,  the argument can be made that the Eagles want someone big there at the RG spot,  so it's not like the Eagles would be wrong.    Having so many backup with Ras of 9.59+ is certainly a good thing, and whatever they end up with would likely be one of many good options.   7, with one of Jurgens, Driscoll, Steen starting, 2 sitting.  Trevor Reid is a 9.94 as Guard.  That makes 8 and he might not make the 53.  Maybe he's one of the gameday inactives?  Sua Opeta is over 9.  That's 9.  The Eagles have a lot of top ras OLs.   Even 10-20 have interesting players.   Tyrese Robinson has low ras,  but in 2019,  what was he doing?  He was playing Right Guard, pretty well, for the Oklahoma Sooners and Jalen Hurts.  Not sucking, and the Sooners won almost all games.   Jurgens, Steen, Driscoll, Opeta, Reid, Tyrese R.    That's 6 plausible RGs.  The other 4 of 5 OL spots have great players, probowl/all pro/ HoF.

My ears perked up when I heard him compared to Brandon Brooks by other players/coaches. That's high, high praise.

Meanwhile, the Eagles have the most talented DT to come out since Aaron Donald on a rookie contract for the next 5 years. One of many reasons why taking Bijan in round 1 would've been dumb and why Howie never would've done it.

They may go DE/DT yet again in the 24 draft especially if Davis looks like a 2 down player.
Plus Reddick will want more guaranteed super money and Sweat will only have 1 more year left on his deal.

That Eagles-Lions playoff game is going to be good.  Just gotta make sure we are the ones playing at home in it.
