i never thought anyone would match the love dawk got universally from eagles fans. But kelce managed to do it.

If Kelce ran for mayor of Philadelphia, he’d win in a landslide.

I figured that's what you were going for, but I thought the Patriots had to be included based on the fact that they were a double digit win team for two decades and also had good years in the '90s, including a trip to the Super Bowl.

And the Steelers get the nod for me over the Packers because they have been over .500 almost every year whereas the Packers have had some occasional dips into mediocrity.

Yeah Jets are going to be legit.  The offensive line is a concern but they have one of the best defenses, of not the best in the league.  They made an astronomical improvement at QB and Rodgers will have the best skill players to play with that he has had in years.

Its probable that all 12 other players on the offense counting the first subs at RB and WR on the 2021 Packers were better than the 2023 Jets.

The same is true with the 2020 Packers.

I think both teams have been a little different. Both have been well run, but the Packers have been largely driven by great QB play. Two HOFers in Favre and Rodgers. The Steelers had Roethlisberger, but the 90s they really didn't have anyone special at QB. Stewart was meh. O'Donnell was meh. If Jordan Love isn't good, this could be the first time in a while for the Packers where they find themselves at the bottom of the division for a prolonged time. The Steelers I think are just so well run they'll always find a way to be competitive.

How to take a person's popularity from 100% to 50% instantly --- enter politics.

Does this team have the most swag since the 2010 Eagles?  I think they are going to be a confident, hungry and angry bunch this season just blowing teams out like the 2007 Patriots.

I didn't realize that Jalen is pretty much 2 years younger than Burrow despite coming in the same draft.  Decided to check him compared to some other top young QBs.   Eagles aren't just in great position in the NFC with Hurts but the NFL.  Have no doubt too that in his later career when his legs start to go where he can't be the runner that he is that he will still continue to play late into his career as a great passer with mobility.

Also surprising just how instantly the NFL refilled and perfectly transitioned to the new era of the NFL and QBs with Brady retiring and officially closing the past era, which was probably the best for QBs, and now rolling into this new era with Mahomes winning his 2nd ring over Hurts who played an all time game.  Burrow has already made a Super Bowl in a great post season run, came up just short the next year.  Josh Allen had a step back year but prior to that he was on a rapid rise and had probably the best divisional game ever against Mahomes in a loss where he should hold no shame.  Lamar Jackson became the youngest MVP ever in league history.  Trevor Lawrence has Doug now and with him he won a division title and pulled off an all time great playoff comeback win.

Trevor Lawrence 10/6/99 23 years old

Hurts 8/7/98 24 years old

Justin Herbert 5/10/98 25 years old

Joe Burrow 12/10/96 26 years old

Lamar Jackson 1/7/97 27 years old

Josh Allen 5/21/96 27 years old

Mahomes 9/17/95 27 years old

Random question:

If you had to pick two NFL teams since the early 90s who you consider the two franchises who’ve been most consistently good, who would they be?

I want to see if people say the two teams I’m thinking of.

New England and Pittsburgh.  Green Bay is close, but a tier below those two.

How can you not have the Patriots as one of the two?

Halfway through "Quarterback” on Netflix.

Take #1: Falcons have the worst number fonts in the league.

Take #2: He’s corny, but Kirk Cousins gets way too much hate for some reason, especially considering he’s outplayed his draft selection.

The negligent entrustment is the stronger claim.  The claim against Carter, I think, depends on whether there's similar racing cases.  He's not the deepest pocket.  He doesn't want to be left holding the bag and I imagine the whole thing would be likely to resolve at a mediation.

Carter is foolish if he waits until parties go to mediation.  His best bet is getting out early, IMHO.  Back in the mid 1980s, our company embraced mediation as a tool.  I was in charge of that regionally (and our region was the biggest in the country).  Personal injury attorneys back then thought it was a joke paying a mediator to help negotiate.  In truth, we were looking at it as a form of "litigation management” (when an insurance carrier uses that term they are really talking about trying to reduce litigation costs.  Carriers tend to look at cases as having the ultimate (settled) value - despite what the TV and billboards project - but what we can reduce is expense costs if we investigate well and resolve earlier).  But forty years later, both sides are addicted to mediation.  The best bet is picking up the phone (his adjuster or lawyer as I think this will take more than his personal auto limits) and presenting a solid offer to get out because they don’t need him for the case against Lecroy, the association and possibly UGA.  No solid reason to wait for a mediation.

The interesting aspect of these cases will be trying to establish the association as an agent for UGA to get to the capped amount UGA has. UGA should throw that limit on the table and let the injured parties negotiate amongst themselves for the limit.  (Places the association’s liability carrier in a tough position because if agency is established, then UGA may be an insured under the association auto policy.  Smartest thing the primary auto carrier can do is throw out its limits for all plaintiffs and potential plaintiffs on behalf of every defendant except Carter. If GA is a first come state, then the fun begins.).

Maybe Carter should hire us as consultants.

He’s the better runner of him and swift. Swift is the better pass catcher of the two. If i remember reading correctly swift was a decent pass blocker earlier in his lions career. I don’t expect either to stay healthy for 17 games but if they play the same amount of games I’d expect penny to lead the eagles backs in rushing yards and swift to lead the eagles backs in receptions and receiving yards.

Gainwell is the only back under contract in 2024.  He will be more utilized than suspected.

Tend to think swift and penny won’t play all 17 games. Their careers have shown that.  gainwell is likely gonna get more touches and snaps then many expect.

Because it included the 90s.  3 good seasons but the rest were from below average to really bad. I took the question about consistency and those two franchises didn’t have massive dips to the tune of one or two win seasons which New England had both of.

But I do see the argument for NE.

I wanted to include Baltimore but eliminated them due to not existing until 1096

It’s obvious that they don’t pay attention to how the Eagles build their roster and how they allocate cap resources.  There are several teams who are much more likely to pursue Jacobs at close to the money he wants

Are there?  I think Gurley and then Elliott have teams concerned about guarantees and the wheels falling off.  Draft a stud RB, run him hard, maybe consider a tag year and then let him go hoping some other team bites and brings you a comp pick.  Exactly what Howie did  with Sanders. (Wasn’t worth the tag.)

Agree. You get 4-5 good years that’s all you can really hope for. Hard to blame guys who hold out too.

I can't see Howie doing this due to the RB view and his cost but man, talk about a finishing touch to the offense. Jacobs is a very good 3 down back just entering his prime. I like him even more than Cook though he would look pretty good in green too.

I think it really began with Shaun Alexander.  He had more yards, and over double the amount of TDs in the 2005 season alone than he did in the 3 following seasons combined….yet they paid him about 24 mil in those 3 seasons (convert that to today’s numbers and that’s insane).

But you are still right. Perhaps there are not several teams.  And I did say close to what he wants to be paid… I don’t think there are any teams willing to pay what these guys (Jacobs, Cook) actually want.

My real point was that these guys are not paying attention to the Eagles front office philosophy.  It’s a weak journalistic take to just assume that Howie will be willing to grab just any big name that’s rumored to be available.

Swift, Penny, Gainwell, Scott is already a pretty talented and crowded RB room.

Fingers crossed they all stay healthy.
