How can you not have the Patriots as one of the two?

The 90s was the difference for me. I'm doing it year by year not cumulative where one crazy successful decade/millenium outweighs another.

I wanted to include Baltimore but eliminated them due to not existing until 1096

927 years and only 2 titles to show for it all

Okay, but which is more important, one decade out of three or eleven Super Bowl appearances and 6 Super Bowl wins?  I simply see the 90s for the Patriots as the appetiser course with the Oughts and the 10s being the main course, the wine served with dinner and the dessert.  And by the way Playoffs appearances in 1994, 1996, 1997, and 1998 isn't exactly shabby.

I don’t see that happening at all. But just for fun, if so, who would we get rid of?

I think Kenny G is the one that would make the most sense because he has some return value. And we need Boston Scott at least twice a year.

Obviously the championships are more important, but that's not what I was looking for in that particular question.

Wasn’t your question about what were the best franchises over that 30 year period?

For me "who’ve been most consistently good " = "best”

Think of the good Las Vegas could have done with that monstrosity's price tag of $2 billion.

Instead they have a gigantic eyeball.

Since 1990 the Eagles have 5 seasons of 10+ losses.

  • The Packers have 4
  • The Ravens have 5 or 8 depending on if you count Cleveland.
  • The Steelers have 2 and none since 2004.
  • The Patriots have 6 but 5 of the 6 were 1990-1995. They have none since Brady
  • Dem Boys have 8 seasons of 10+ losses. So do the Colts.

If you are only aiming for good then its probably Pittsburgh and Green Bay with Philly right behind.

The Patriots won a playoff game or more in 1996, 1997, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018

  • They were in the divisional round (final 8 teams) 17 times in 35 years. They were in 14 AFCCCGs. (10-4)
  • GB was also in the divisional 17 times in 35 years and 9 conference championships. (2-7)
  • Pittsburgh was in 14 divisional round games and 9 AFCCGs. (4-5)
  • Philly was in 12 divisional round games and 7 NFCCGs.  (3-4)
  • Baltimore is 11 and 4 or 12 and 4 if you count Belichick. (2-2)

If you are aiming for divisional round = good then its probably NE and GB with Pittsburgh close and Philly just behind them.

I'm not going to quote that eyeball thing but here is the reaction:

Johan Rojas is going to be fun to watch.

I'd guess Penny would be out.

Seems these guys need to hydrate more for a double header in this heat.  Lots of little injuries.  Tweaks, pulls, etc.

Needed some Chip shakes between games.

What a brilliant at bat that last one was. Got the run home and the padres weren’t expecting that bunt

Kid looks like he could be special.

I am hoping they’re not trying to showcase him for a deadline trade. I think the kid defensively is going to be a stud. He has the tools to be a really good hitter. Phillies actually have 3 legitimate OF prospects in Rojas, de La Cruz and Crawford. I doubt all 3 stay with the Phillies for their careers

That's possible, or maybe they want to see him and could make a reclaimed Pache available.   Small sample size on Pache this year, but he's still very young and has a great BA, OBP and OBS.

Rojas could be kept around just for his defense and not be a liability until he figures it out at the plate.  But... if today is an indication, it may not be long before he has it together at the plate... and with his speed, if he can get bunt hits like the one tonight, he will be very hard to defend.

Browsing channels and I see the Phillies have a very packed stadium.  No surprise given the recent success they have had that I have been forced to hear about on the radio.

I like pache a lot. But it’s concerning he seems to be getting injured multiple times. Was a highly rated prospects that the Braves traded just a year ago for Murphy so the talent is there. Phillies love platooning him and marsh vs. matchups. Not sure if they keep Rojas on the roster once pache is back and keep 5 OF but really if they don’t make a deal at the deadline for a hitter then could move harper to first, schwarber to DH, have Rojas in CF and marsh/pache platooning in LF. Use marsh/pache as late inning replacement for castellanos.

also Noah song is gonna be added to this roster as a BP arm so they don’t lose him to rule 5 draft regulations. Kid has been impressive in the minors for not pitching in a couple years

Agreed on Pache.

I doubt they keep Rojas with the big club, unless he can play every day.  So, unless they are going to turn centerfield over to him, he'll go back to Reading when Pache comes back.  But, he will definitely be up come September.  And if the Phillies are smart, they might want to have Rojas on the postseason roster over Pache... if today is any indication of who he is at the MLB level.    EXTREMELY small sample size.  But, I would hope that we get to see a lot more of him in the coming days.  I think Harper moves to 1st in the next week.  Which would open up LF for what you laid out with the Marsh/Pache platoon and keeping Rojas in CF for as long as he plays like this.
