OUCH.  That hit hard in a spot with virtually no meat.   Could be a broken bone on the finger.

Agreed on Pache.

I doubt they keep Rojas with the big club, unless he can play every day.  So, unless they are going to turn centerfield over to him, he'll go back to Reading when Pache comes back.  But, he will definitely be up come September.  And if the Phillies are smart, they might want to have Rojas on the postseason roster over Pache... if today is any indication of who he is at the MLB level.    EXTREMELY small sample size.  But, I would hope that we get to see a lot more of him in the coming days.  I think Harper moves to 1st in the next week.  Which would open up LF for what you laid out with the Marsh/Pache platoon and keeping Rojas in CF for as long as he plays like this.

I kind of think the Phillies are gonna go after a bat at the deadline. One that could play multiple positions. Cody Bellinger makes the most sense besides being left-handed of all the batters that are available at the deadline. His numbers are really impressive .305/.366/.518/.875. Plus, he can play every outfield position and first base. He won a gold glove in OF/1b.  Arenado, Goldschmidt according to buster onley aren’t going to be dealt. And you’re not gonna get  Ohtani especially for what it cost for him to be a rental. Wish he was a RH batter but he’s hitting lefties .338 and righties .286 on the year so I’ll take it.

if the bats get going and they don’t want to make a move for a bat, I think they should look into Blake Snell. Is a free agent at the end of the year. So if the  Padres are completely out of contention there’s a chance that they could move him. His numbers this year are ridiculously good. Even last year he was good. Plus you don’t know what nola you are gonna get so having him and wheeler as a 1-2 is pretty nice. I’m guessing the price would be high though

If it’s broken might mean Scott kingery finally gets called up. Been raking in triple A the last month plus

Rojas!!!

And Sosa has another injury to worry about now.  🤦‍♂️

I am hoping they’re not trying to showcase him for a deadline trade. I think the kid defensively is going to be a stud. He has the tools to be a really good hitter. Phillies actually have 3 legitimate OF prospects in Rojas, de La Cruz and Crawford. I doubt all 3 stay with the Phillies for their careers

First time in a long time to genuinely be excited about the farm system. OF prospects, Miller in-field, Painter on the mound eventually. Put that with Stott taking a huge leap and Bohm/Marsh being young and contributing, future is looking good.

What suck is they dealt moniak to get syndergaard which at the time was the right decision at the time cause they needed him for that stretch run. But moniak is really raking with the angels. Their development is much better now then it has been in what feels like forever. the end of the amaro and klentak regime really didn’t do a great job in developing their prospects. Since Dombrowski  taken over has really put more into it and they’ve drafted better.

can’t remember the last time we’ve had 3 stud pitching prospects and 3 really good OF prospects. Add on they crushed the rule 5 draft with song. Kid has great stuff

They sold Moniak low, but that Syndergaard deal likely got them to the playoffs.

Yeah it was a necessary move to make it to the playoffs. The Phillies and klentak really didn’t help his development. He really began turning the corner at the end of 2021 in the minors and ST 2022. Like hoskins they messed with his swing early in his minor career and new development staff helped him back. Last year he just got hurt and could never really get himself stabilized into the lineup.

Lol the Mets

I remember Joe Benigno on WFAN maybe 10 years ago saying Phillies fans love the Mets. All the Mets do is make Phillies fans smile.

By what week is Sydney Brown starting?  I say by week 9 right before the bye against the Cowboys at home.  He will send Edmunds to the bench and he will start a years long safety duo era with Blankenship that will be looked back at like Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor.

Agholor is on the Mets?

Mets do Mets things.

And we thank them.

Super Bowl is on NFLN right now. I haven't watched a single play since the game. Man, this game was there for the taking. The offense is unreal. Provided the new RBs stay healthy and RG is steady, they should put up serious points. I don't see them taking a step back at all. I'm excited to see the new, younger defense.

Not going to watch how the game ends because I know that, but watching the bulk of this game, the Eagles controlled it. UGHHHH.

Wow that is a positive outlook. Earl Thomas? I do not see him anywhere near that level. I'm not high on Brown to be honest and wouldn't have taken him where we did. I do recognize his intangibles however and his good guy persona and work ethic. He can be one of those guys that just works hard and wills himself to success, but his limitations to me are weighing down my positive vibe. If he can be a good backpack up option, provide solid leadership skills and be a great locker room presence, play quality special teams, I would be very happy with that outcome. And I don't remember Kam ever getting run over by back up RB's. Kam was a absolute beast in many facets, Blankenship is not in that realm either. Of course I hope you're right on both predictions but would be ecstatic with even one of them being close.

Maybe, possibly Brown and Blankenship end up a solid Safety duo but they won't be anywhere near Kam and Earl Thomas 😄😄

That sounds more realistic to me. However I still do not want or like that combo, for this year at least. I could see Edmunds in a bit of a hybrid LB/S role however getting Brown on the field more. I think Edmunds can be pretty good near or off the line reading and attacking, especially against the run. Our run D was suspect last year, I think Edmunds can help in this area rather than being in the typical safety role.

Not more physical than the other Woodson or Night Train Lane but yes, the best DB who ever played.

It's pretty hard to be more physical than Lane, lol, he basically just assaulted people on the field.

This isnt Phillies related, but I wanted to share this cool story about Jatnk Diaz, the pitcher from Hazleton who was just drafted by Detroit in the 8th round. Pretty cool story. Movie-like.

Idk if that's really all that unpopular, I would definitely agree. He's also the only defensive player ever to win the Heisman trophy.

Only defensive player and over Golden Boy Peyton Manning!

weird. I just read it. Its supposed to be available for 24 hours.

LOL, Sherman was a small corner of the field zone defender supported by 2 safeties playing like hall of famers. He's probably the most overrated player in NFL history.

He deserved all pros and pro bowls but the worship was over the top. He's a top 25 all-time CB, not a top 5.

He and Eric Allen have a pretty similar 7 years on their first teams and Allen was better for longer after that. (both belong in the HoF and neither is Jalen Ramsey)

Guys like Deion, Woodson, Ramsey, or Revis makes the other 3 in the secondary much better. A guy like Sherman was just a very nice cog in the machine.

BTW, Mel Blount was far better than most of the guys on the list. They had to make a Mel Blount rule (no contact after 5 yards) because he was not fair to WRs.

Blount was 6'3" 205 in the 70s when 6'1" 220 was linebacker size.

Darrell Green should also be on that list. I have a picture of him if you want.
