Prior to him this franchise had no star talent and couldn't get any star talent to save its life.  It was bottom seed peak irrelevancy year in and year out if they made the playoffs at all.  The Process wasn't an embarrassment, the only thing that is an embarrassment are these Glen Macnow like clowns like you that have always had this higher than though attitude towards it.  The Process made following the Sixers an absolute joy and a year round source of entertainment.  Summer league meant something.  Watching young players trying to find diamonds in the rough during season you knew were going to be nothing but purely developmental as they stockpiled assets.

You play to win the game... but, if you are going to go with "the Process", then you have to see it through.  They bailed on it when the pressure came.

But... what star talent have we acquired?  One guy... Embiid.  Harden isn't a star anymore.  He thinks he is still the guy he was in Houston.  He's not that guy anymore.  Not even close.  So, in the ten years of the Process... we managed to come away with exactly ONE star.  Big freaking deal.  Ironically, they did acquire another one, but traded him away for Zhaire Smith, a guy who's now been out of the league for 3 years.  Was Okafor a star?  Hardly.  Another guy that's out of the league now... he couldn't last in the NBA to his 26th birthday.   Ben Simmons?  He's about to be out of the league.  Markell Fultz?  Still in the league, but not on this team.  The point of the process was to get to the top of the draft and find the kind of talent that only exists there.  Major whiffs.  One long shot panned out, and the sad truth is that his prime is about to run out and they will have failed to put the requisite pieces around him to actually become an elite team.   This team never has.  Regular season success in the NBA is meaningless.  It is always about the playoffs.  And the team hasn't been any better in the playoffs since Harris got here than before he was here.

Andy Reid is a perfect case study for O-line importance.

Jon Runyan signing in 2000 kicked off a golden age in this town. With Runyan and Tra they had the corners locked down for 9 years. When they got hurt, we got the Winston Justice game.

His Chiefs lines dominate and they got 2 SBs. They had a shot at a 3rd until 3 guys on that line got hurt. Mahomes was the same player in all 3 SBs but he had to play without an O-line in 1 of them. The results were clear. Reid kept the line strong (actually improved it) and got rid of the fast guy. A 7th round pick RB carved up the Eagles enough to put the Chiefs in position to win.

He wasn't forced to resign.  He just had too much self respect to treated like Milton in Office Space.

The comment above is so brain dead that it should be treated as a banable offense.  Where are the Mods when we need them.

They didn't fire the GM.  Hinkie resigned.

Yeah, cause he wasn't being forced out. The league just happened to come to the Sixer's rescue with a new president and GM out of their good will.

Agree. Look, I don't see how they could force a team to fire their GM for what they were doing, but even then....there is no way they could force him to take on those idiots. He bailed like you said. Certainly don't follow them up with EB and give Doc that final year.

Can it be treated as ignorable?

The ESPN 30 for 30 on the process is going to be amazing just considering how much ridiculousness happened during this time. Think about all the things that are going to have to talk about.

1. The idea of the process, hiring hinkie

2. Drafting 3 centers in a row (okafor’s fiasco in Boston that made them sign Elton brand back to the team as a mentor)

3. embiid breaking his foot and falling to 3 then his story of coming back

4. nba forcing the colangelos on the sixers and leading to hinkie resigning/pushed out. (Interviewed "76” people for GM yet colangelo was the "best”)

4. Drafting Ben Simmons at 1

5. Trade to move up and draft Fultz and his forgetting how to shoot a basketball

6. Colangelo burner gate and hiring brand

7. Trading away bridges

8. Zhaire smith bust and almost dying of a peanut allergy

9. Jimmy butler trade and tobias Harris trade

10. Kawhi shot in the playoffs

11. butler leaving in FA and everything that entailed (can throw in jj story)

10. Signing Al horford to $100 mil and extending Harris and Simmons

11. Brett brown gets fired and hiring of Doc rivers

12. Hiring of morey

13. Drafting of maxey

14. Hawks playoff disaster and Ben Simmons meltdown

15. morey and sixers vs. Ben Simmons offseason standoff

16. sixers trade Simmons for harden

17. Embiid’s playoff injury history

18. harden, embiid and sixers getting buried by Miami in playoffs

19. Harden contract and tampering for house and pj tucker

20. embiid wins mvp

21. Sixers blowing a lead in the last 6 minutes of game 6 and getting destroyed in game 7 while up 3-2

22. Doc fired and nick nurse hired

23. harden trade demand

24. however this harden thing plays out

I’m guaranteeing I’m missing a ton more like TJ McConnell story and mwc

that said, I would still do the process again. Oklahoma City is doing essentially the same thing the Sixers were doing, but the NBA isn’t getting mad because did not glorifying it and it’s OKC. Also presti has been allowed to see it through. you can see the amount of talent they’re bringing in and it’s going to turn for them at some point.

Sixers ownership, FO and even players not living up to their potential had a hand in the process failing. I don’t know if it would’ve went better is Hinkie got to finish it but if you were going to do it, commit to it then the architect should’ve been kept longer to see it through. I am guessing they wouldn’t have pissed away a lot of assets that some of the other general managers after they took over. Also we forget was leaks hinkie wanted porzingis and sixers ownership said no cause they didn’t want a year of tanking with nothing to show for it as he’d not come over.

How did these guys not learn from what Henry Ruggs did?   So STUPID.  No excuse.  Frankly, driving that fast should require jail time in addition to a loss of license.   PA codes don't even list a penalty for driving higher than 105, and that's for a 75mph zone.  55mph zones only go up to 95mph.  Driving that fast is basically a matter of attempted vehicular manslaughter, because if you crash at that speed, fatalities are the only realistic outcomes.

Geez.  That is a bit overblown.  Many have driven over 100 on a deserted stretch of Highway. What about idiots driving significantly under speed limits.  Frankly, those seem more dangerous in most scenarios.  He hurt no one and hit nothing.

I agree with him more than I agree with you. Driving 140MPH is not something to simply brush aside by saying "no harm no foul".

Excessive speed tickets aren’t a no harm/no foul sort.  Most result in suspension of driving license or close to it level of points.  But jail time for excessive speeding without injury or damage is overboard IMHO.

140 mph on public roads is insanely dangerous. I think a short stint in jail is totally warranted. Not much different than driving drunk in my view.

Considering he didn’t get a DUI, I’d say driving that fast is even worse since he had a clear mind.

The fastest I went was on the turnpike, at 125mph when I was young and stupid. I had no desire to ever do that again cause that sheet is scary.

I suppose Carter should be jailed too?

Man, we've been through some kind of ride with The Process. So much that you forget about. It's so frustrating, sad, pathetic but you have to laugh at it now. I mean Markelle Fultz forgetting how to shoot. That doesn't happen anywhere else but Philly.

The only thing on here that legitimately pisses me off is the way they handled Jimmy Butler.

I don’t think so. He was going 85 mph over the speed limit, not 30. Not much better than wave loaded gun around, imo
