I got too fancy with the RBs going for rarity. Duce Staley and Pierre Thomas. Neither went over 1000 for those teams. Ugh.

Should have gone with Barry Foster.  He only did it once.  I went for the obvious... Franco and got 12%.

Impressive pull on Cedric Benson.  I went Corey Dillon.

Lessee, didn't he pay around $800 million or so? I wonder how capital gains tax is calculated on on such a transaction. I'm sure they got it figured out.

I’m currently stuck on Raiders/Steelers and Raiders/Saints. Had my best pull at Raiders/Bengals with a .5% (all-time TATER great S from USC)

Begals/Cowboys was stupidly easy. There was like 7 guys that instantly popped in my head for that one, just had to pick the least popular guy.

RB’s I went prettty chalk with

I think it's important to look at this team in 2 phases.

First one being 2023 and 2024. That's the initial window for this team.  AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert and Jalen Hurts are all locked up with relatively low cap hits. The OL is still relatively in their prime with Kelce on his way out. The DL is ready to explode and the big dogs are on rookie deals. Slay and Bradberry are locked in on what I'd assume are their last contracts with the Eagles. If there was ever a time to make a trade for a high impact veteran, this is the time.

Second being 2025 and beyond. Jalen Hurts will still just be 27 years old and the Eagles are going to have A LOT of decisions to make with the young core they've added and how to keep them together.

Where I'm going with this is, out of DeVonta Smith and AJ Brown, if they can only afford to keep one of them, who should it be?

-AJ Brown's contract explodes in 2025 when his cap goes to $26.5 million. He'll be 28.

-DeVonta Smith's initial 4-year deal ends after 2024 and the 5th year option in 2025 will be anywhere between $13-$18 million per NFL rules (provided he isn't extended beforehand). He's a year younger than AJ Brown and will be 27 in 2025.

Does it make any sense for the Eagles to go all in to try to get Marvin Harrison Jr. in next years draft? His own teammate, Emeka Embuka, isn't on the same level but is elite in his own right.  My guess is that the Eagles will be picking very late in the 1st round and it would take a kings ransom to move up to grab Harrison. Embuka would be a fantastic consolation prize. I think WR should be a priority in the draft however in order to keep the stable full for Hurts as he continues in to his prime.

Harrison Jr. is a Megatron/Moss level prospect. As good as Chase was, Harrison Jr. really is a different category of WR.

"I really liked Ja'Marr Chase coming out, but this dude is another-level good because he's so much bigger. The best defense in the country [Georgia in the College Football Playoff semifinals] didn't even have an answer for him before he got hurt," said an AFC scout.

Between Caleb at QB, Harrison Jr. at WR, Bowers at TE, and Fashanu at LT - next year's class has some truly generational prospects.

Howie needs to work his magic and swindle us another 1st round pick.

If Harrison Jr came out the last two drafts, good chance he’s in the convo at #1 overall and probably gone by #2. He might make it to #3 next year if Williams/Maye are legit.

Caleb, Harrison Jr, Bowers, and Fashanu all would have been the first players taken at their position if they were eligible in this year's draft. Heck, even guys like Maye, Alt, "Ko ol-Aid", and Turner would have been taken ahead of the guys this year who were first at their positions.

The 2023 draft really was weak, there were only 2 blue chip players in it, we were lucky to get one of them at #9.

I will refrain from quibbling however I’d still like it if they had more and just had bottom of the roster guys take the reps to help them develop.

Yup.  But hey, at least we know the bottom of the roster will get all the PS snaps.

Good call on the Raiders Bengals pick, I know EXACTLY who you're talking about. Bengals and Cowboys both like guys with off the field baggage. A weird amount of cross over.

Pretty sure the Phillies couldn’t consistently hit the baseball off a t-ball stand right now

What makes us worse is this kid hasn’t pitched seven innings or more since April. Only done it once this year. He tends to get taken out in the 5th or 6th inning. The Phillies because their approach at the plate has been ridiculously bad, he is going to go 7. He has 72 pitches thru 5 innings.

It took me a while to remember the guy who won SBs with both Pittsburgh and Dallas.

My Raider - Saint is one of my favorite players. If you can't think of him your memory may be ... foggy

Exactly what i was talking about

sosa’s at bat: swung 3 times at 3 pitches which none were in the strike zone. Fortunately got a  roller down the line

Schwarber’s at bat: swings at 2 pitches. Neither in the zone and one made him go down to a knee

turner’s at bat: bad strike 1 call but then hacks away at 2 pitches not really close to the zone for the strikeout

castellanos at bat: takes 4 swings during the at bat, 3 of them where pitches not in the zone. Two of them the ball bounced or nearly bounced at the plate.

Other than that, how did you like the play, Mrs. Lincoln?

Sheeeeesh, this is going to be a glorious uniform.

At least wheeler looked awesome. Unfortunate no one can hit and we apparently can’t make routine catches

Antithesis to the ending a couple days ago, where Stott and Castellanos collided on the final out.

Yep. The defense I didn’t expect to be spectacular. And the base running has also been an issue for years now

But their hitting has been this way for the last two years. No reason for it with the amount of money invested and guys they have. The October run makes you forget about the regular season in 2022, but this is what they were like on offense for most of 2022 and 2023. So now you’ve gone 2 years with the consistency week to week issue. Guys like bohm, stott and marsh have given you everything. You can ask for it’s the guys who are the big names that disappear routinely week to week. They can’t fire the player so with this is going to come down to ultimately is Kevin long. I like Kevin long as he’s good with developing the young guys but the guys who are struggling right now have no clue at the plate. He is going to be the fall guy.
