Nor am I. They have at least nine starters back on offense and the only rookie with a shot at starting is Steen. Nine practices is more than enough to sort all that out. Further, they do a lot of stuff that doesn't fit the term "practice." O line drills are a constant with Stoutland, who has said, time and again, that they work on their stuff Every. Single. Day.

Defense is a different story, what with new LBs, safeties, and DC. Even so, most of what they need to work on is keys, reads, calls, etc. Positioning. Responsibilities. That stuff comes first in the classroom and walkthroughs. Practice is reps applying what they've studied.

Biggest issue I have is the new coordinators.  That's being overlooked by some folks, even offensively.  Yes, Brian Johnson has been here for 2 years already, and yes, he knows Hurts from way back.  BUT... this is brand new to him, he's brand new to the offense as a whole.  And who's calling plays now?  Is it back to Sirianni, who frankly didn't seem to be all that good at it, at least compared to Steichen, or is it Johnson, who's never done it.

And from a completely selfish perspective... I like to see things myself.

Meanwhile, Harper looks more comfortable at first base than Hoskins ever did.

Harper with another really nice play at 1B.   Dude is just a flat out stud athlete.

Why bother putting him back in the outfield. Sheesh, just keeps flashing serious leather and athleticism at 1st.

100% trolling

Because he's also a stud RF.   BUT... having that flexibility with him will be nice moving forward.   But, he's looked better defensively at 1B (granted extremely small sample size), since the Phillies had Rico Brogna.

With only 9 practices, this is the kind of content I'm preparing myself for from the Eagles

Just got a random Lorenzo Booker flashback for some reason

It’s fitting that happened with how they’ve played this week

Of course, still want them to steal this one today.

Yeah I’m hoping they pile on in the 10th. they need a spark. Need to just deal for bellinger his numbers are ridiculous and he would be a perfect guy hitting 3-4th in the lineup

doesn’t include for the season hitting .353 vs. LHP and .302 vs RHP

Ok... now I can breathe easy.

Are you sure about that? Lol

Ridiculous.

Is there a rule against throwing a strike?

I think a problem a lot of people have when debating this topic is they can’t differentiate the player from the position.

The RB position is extraordinarily valuable to the offense; but the individual player is not. The difference between the 9th best RB and the 23rd best running back is probably the smallest difference in impact of winning a football game of any position (other than maybe tight end). What catapults franchise tag numbers are top end starters who separate themselves from everyone else. Other than a few exceptions, this is just not happening at the RB position due to a myriad of factors. Is Tony Pollard worth more than twice what Miles Sanders is? No. Is Saquon Barkley? Probably not. Is Miles worth 4 times was Rashaad Penny is worth? Depending on if Rashaad can stay healthy, definitely not.

It will continue to correct itself, and I wouldnt be surprised if the tag continues to drop as the contracts of the Derrick Henry’s and the Ezekiel Elliot’s go away.

I agree on that. I dont care if Sanders cant far distance himself monetarily from some average runner. Since so few RBs can really distance themselves from the rest of the group.

Maybe McCaffrey should be the top paid back by a reasonable margin. However maybe most of them should be lumped pretty closely together. The talent gap doesnt always correlate with a production gap.

But at a minimum, the starting price for a RB needs to be recognized at a higher level than it is.

Teams shouldnt be able to wait to sign them and hope to get them for a vet min deal around training camp time. There should be a market for these guys when free agency opens.

The importance of their position is not being recognized.

The Giants shouldnt be ok with not getting Barkley signed and think theyll be just as well off with James Robinson. Thats stupid.

Hasn't this board been saying that RB isn't important for the last 5+ years now? Whenever there's a discussion about making a move for a big time RB or even re-signing Miles Sanders, the conversation goes back to how RB isn't important and they can find a guy as an UDFA and go with RBBC.

Heck, D'Andre Swift is 24 with loads of potential and the minute I bring up giving him an extension before his value goes up, half the board says they can replace him without even seeing what he can do.

Fans seem to love Howie's cheap RBBC approach and he does it by getting the best bang for his buck and tremendous value out of the RB he brings in. But which is it? RB is important or it isn't?

On swift (and really penny), there are some people that don’t want to pay him because he doesn’t stay healthy and as he gets older it’s unlikely that improves. As talented as he is when he is healthy, he is almost always missing a quarter or more of the season. It’s the same issue penny has. If he has a fantastic season in a contract year and stays healthy, would you be willing to pay him too tier RB money knowing history has shown he normally doesn’t stay healthy? That’s tough

I think both of those penny and swift are above average to good running backs. The issue is neither one of them stay healthy. this was an issue a lot of people had with Miles Sanders getting a second contract. he would get some nagging injuries and not play the whole season. And then his contract year he managed to stay relatively healthy. But the reason why people really didn’t want to pay him the money he thought he deserved was because didn’t want to pay the running back position and also he had a track record of not always staying healthy.

I definitely understand the hesitance with Swift and Penny regarding injuries. Just using the thought process as an example. The argument goes way back before Penny and Swift were brought in. Probably peaked when Miles Sanders became eligible for an extension and fans are happy with Boston Scott and Kenny Gainwell.

I get Eddie Lacy and Zach Stacy mixed up, as they played at the same time so I’m convinced Eddie Lacy was once a ram. Then I picked Clay Matthews’ dad in a hasty choice as my other error
