Hasn't this board been saying that RB isn't important for the last 5+ years now? Whenever there's a discussion about making a move for a big time RB or even re-signing Miles Sanders, the conversation goes back to how RB isn't important and they can find a guy as an UDFA and go with RBBC.

Heck, D'Andre Swift is 24 with loads of potential and the minute I bring up giving him an extension before his value goes up, half the board says they can replace him without even seeing what he can do.

Fans seem to love Howie's cheap RBBC approach and he does it by getting the best bang for his buck and tremendous value out of the RB he brings in. But which is it? RB is important or it isn't?

Yeah. Theyre wrong.

People see or hear something that they think is a good idea and get carried away sometimes.

The RB devaluing has gone too far to the extreme. And now its going to become a problem.

I definitely understand the hesitance with Swift and Penny regarding injuries. Just using the thought process as an example. The argument goes way back before Penny and Swift were brought in. Probably peaked when Miles Sanders became eligible for an extension and fans are happy with Boston Scott and Kenny Gainwell.

Can say I wasn’t happy with Scott and gainwell. Needed an upgrade from both as both are fine backups. I’ve been fine signing a FA and drafting a back in round 2-3. I think the value in round 2-3 is the best for finding good RBs. Can’t speak for everyone else but didn’t want to give sanders an extension for 3 reasons: tended to not stay healthy, his pass blocking had gotten worse (frankly a problem we’ve had since doug was HC) and his pass catching ability seemed to regress/disappeared from the offense. I do find it curious that it felt like doug and sirianni both didn’t fully trust him.

🏈 Immaculate Grid 4 7/9:
Rarity: 430

Play at:

@immaculategrid x @pfref

I get Eddie Lacy and Zach Stacy mixed up, as they played at the same time so I’m convinced Eddie Lacy was once a ram. Then I picked Clay Matthews’ dad in a hasty choice as my other error

I was ready to take Nick Foles as both IND-JAX and CHI-JAX until it told me I couldn’t.  Then I almost misread the grid and plugged in Ngakoue

I'm channeling my UGA alum status.

DeAndre Swift balls out and gets an extension that won't break the Howie bank middle of the season.

With this OL, he will shine.

I too would have been happy with a drafted RB in Rounds 3 or 4.  When I look at the list of RBs taken I will be watching to see how Miller and Spears and Johnson fare.

This leads into the Aguat 1st rumor.

Yeah I tried the same with Allen Robinson. Jag->bear->ram

That game is a double-edged sword.  You’re supposed to come up with obscure answers, yet it gave me a wrong answer a couple of days ago for putting Solomon Wilcots as a Bengal and Steeler.  I could have sworn I’d heard him on NFL Radio talking about his time in PIT so I looked it up  — sure enough, he was there for a season and the site listed it as a wrong answer.

I've been banking on this from day 1. IMO, Swift had elite potential coming out of UGA. Detroit is where good players go to die. That might be changing a bit now but Swift definitely didn't go to a team that was going to help him reach his top level. He needs to be healthy and that's the biggie. If so, I think people are going to be shocked how good he can be. I think he can be a Shady level player on this team.

Scott Rolen saw Sammy Sosa go incognito after he retired and said I'm gonna do that too.

I loved spears coming out but his knee issue would’ve made it tough to take him on the first 3 rounds. I also liked McBride and Israel abanikanda but Israel went to a place I’m not sure he’s gonna get all that many carries.

It can be.

Discouraging great young athletes to play RB and instead pursue a different position or sport is only going to really reduce the talent level at the position over time.  Unlike apparently many here I enjoy watching a great running back.  Great running backs have been a valuable part to the entertainment of football over the years.  Offensively Brian Westbrook was probably the best part of the Andy Reid years.  All the historically great backs have been a pleasure to watch.  You don't address the pay issue at RB and eventually it will turn into a league of Reno Mahe's at the position.

It’s cross referencing pro football reference and they don’t have any stat line for his time in Pittsburgh. I guess they didn’t track tackles back then so whatever they are using thinks he didn’t play any snaps.

You gotta be careful with backup QB’s because of this. They could be on the team all year but if they didn’t take a snap and do something it acts like he never played there.

Now look at their actual uniforms. It sucks what modern uniforms look like.

Why did nearly 60% of Eagles fans on twitter say yes to this and why did the Eagles agree that it's a good choice. No, we don't want a week of memes. We want the MF uniforms.

Saquon Barkley last year: 295 carries, 1312 yards, 4.4 YPC. He wants more than 13m$ a season.

Zach Moss, Devin Singleterry and James Cook last year for the Bills: 283 carries, 1517 yards, 5.4 YPC. They will make a combined 5m$ in 2023.

Josh Jacobs: 340 carries, 1653 yards, 4.9 yards per attempt. Also wants 13+m$ AAV.

Kenneth Walker, Rashaad Penny, Deejay Davis for the Seahawks: 320 carries, 1582 yards, 4.9 yards per carry. They will make a combined 4.5m$ in 2023.

Nearly 10m$ is the difference between Derek Barnett and Haason Reddick; Daron Payne and Aaron Donald; Odell Beckham and AJ Brown; Daniel Jones and Jalen Hurts

Think fans read it as they were gonna give them a week of memes that reveals nothing and would that piss you off

I know the Titans used to be the Oilers and the Oilers had two years in Tennessee, but still it feels wrong for the Titans fans to get those uniforms. The Texans should be the ones who use them. Those uniforms have no history with Tennessee fans. To me once a franchise changes cities and then changes names it kinda becomes its own thing. The throwbacks are for nostalgia and that lies with the fans in Houston.

That would be like the Sixers moving to Vegas, then the next year they change their name to the Scoundrels, and then 5 years later doing Sixers throwback night in Vegas. No one in Vegas would have any connection to the Sixers, that’s a Philly thing.

I believe the names and jersey stuf should stay with the city that has their history and not arbitrarily with the franchise that used to be named them but left town and changed their name and aren’t even the same franchise anymore.

I guess it's just me, but I thought the best part of the Andy Reid years was the play of the backup quarterback.
