Yeah. Theyre wrong.

People see or hear something that they think is a good idea and get carried away sometimes.

The RB devaluing has gone too far to the extreme. And now its going to become a problem.

Not for us.

Discouraging great young athletes to play RB and instead pursue a different position or sport is only going to really reduce the talent level at the position over time.  Unlike apparently many here I enjoy watching a great running back.  Great running backs have been a valuable part to the entertainment of football over the years.  Offensively Brian Westbrook was probably the best part of the Andy Reid years.  All the historically great backs have been a pleasure to watch.  You don't address the pay issue at RB and eventually it will turn into a league of Reno Mahe's at the position.

I don't think it will work that way. From the beginning, coaches put players in positions that are best for them. Even once they hit college and the pros.

Alejandro Villanueva didn't end up at LT because it was going to make him the most money. He ended up there because he wasn't going to make it as a TE, DL, WR and his skillset was perfect for LT. He had to change his body to ultimately make it work but that's what made sense for him.

Found this chart from NCAA. Weird that it has typos calling their own organization the wrong name but the numbers appear to be right. But 99% of people that play football are doing it because they love to play the game. Sure, being in the NFL is a dream for all, but the reality is they won't make it. Guys are going to play in positions they are best at and enjoy the most. For most guys, playing RB is going to get them free college. That alone is worth playing the position.

Sorry, I don't feel bad for RB at all.

Each summer I enjoy reading the dumb Phillies posts. Why?  It means that Training Camp is almost here

Not the fact that we are paying them little.  That's a positive from a team point of view obviously.

But it will become a problem when RBs begin to take their talents to other positions,  or other sports.

Between Elon messing up Twitter, I mean X, and reporters migrating to Threads, which stupidly doesn’t allow you to read posts from people you follow in chronological order, following training camp in real time is going to be more difficult.

Crikey, the reporters are such babies - how many people will think gosh, gotta go to Threads to read Jimmy Kempski talking about the journalists food platter at TC or his photos of lonely gloves in the Novacare Parking Lot?

No one.

This dude sucks.

Threads is just an awful platform for live events. And he has 100K followers on Twitter and 1,192 on Threads. Doesn’t make much sense to me. Thanks, Elon.

Twitter is fine. People pissed about the limits need to get out more.

Give it a few more years and RB will be as devalued as it was in the arena league.

Which I think the NFL thinks is what fans want.

Part of the devaluing of the RB is the leagues insistence on making rules that favor QBs and the passing game, why run the ball when the league rules make it easier to throw the ball 60 times a game to satisfy new era of football fans with low attention spans.

I miss football from the 90s and early 2000s.

The NBA has gone the same way zero defense 60 3 pointers a game it's unbearable to watch and if the NFL keeps going the way it's going I'm not sure I'll have the stomach to watch much.

Of all the new faces, I am really excited to hear about the progress of Nolan Smith. I am cautiously optimistic that he has absorbed the playbook and can play a larger role than edge rusher. How often do the Eagles have a rookie take off right from the start?

I too would have been happy with a drafted RB in Rounds 3 or 4.  When I look at the list of RBs taken I will be watching to see how Miller and Spears and Johnson fare.

I think Bigsby is going to be very good. He was there for the taking too for our back to back picks. I will be watching his career. There are some other later guys I liked, snagging McBride that late wouldn't have been bad.

Yup reports are that he's been taking reps at off ball LB as well, maybe Desai has a role for him where he moves him all over the formation 🤷‍♂️

My guess is Dalvin Cook is already on his way. He can play with his brother and it's a SB team. If not, Howie, time to fleece the Bills for Boston Scott or Kenny Gainwell.

Keith Jackson stands out.

With less press, Kelce did a pretty nice job as a rookie stepping in... as a 6th round pick.
Desean Jackson didn't do too poorly as a rookie either.

The Eagles went from a pass-first 2-5, to a run-first playoff berth. In Sirianni's 2nd year the run-first scheme led them to the Super Bowl. I don't see RB going away. It is too vital. It is unfortunate that the best Rb's are being singled out with their paychecks. The CBA rookie scaling prevents them from earning big bucks in their most productive years. The average RB is still making decent money.

I was thinking about Fletcher Cox, but it has been a long time when the Eagles have themselves a legitimate Rookie of the Year candidate. Can Nolan Smith play a role more like how Micah Parsons is used? Is he that skilled? I am excited to find out what happens with him.

Look at the super bowl as an example. We have a better more reliable back in that game and it may have been the deciding factor in us winning. I thought Hunt could've been had at the deadline, I think going against his former team in the super bowl he could've been a man possessed. But if not him, I'm sure there were backs available. Our backs failed miserably in that game and with one good reliable one, maybe it's a different outcome. It's now a would've could've should've situation, but Howie should have done something there at the deadline. It was spoken about and rumored even suggested leading up to the deadline so it's not something out of left field. We had a slew of picks to play with as well. For this upcoming year, I'm cautiously optimistic. I like Swift but he has soft tissue injuries, and I also like Penny but his career has been injury riddled. These guys go down and you're right back to where you were with Scott & Gainwell.

He was pretty good, but he didn't even start that many games that year.  Barely over half.  But a ROTY at DT is a hard sell.  :D

I don't know that Smith could be that disruptive, but it would be amazing to see if he could.  Then again, no one expected Jevon Kearse to have the type of breakout rookie year he had either.  I'd put Smith more in line with Kearse than Parsons though.

That is one of my season predictions. Smith plays safely 25% of his snaps as an off the line defender. I do not believe he will be a pure rusher and nothing else. It would be wasting his talents & potential in my opinion if not. But the lack of involvement at the position also helps my opinion in this.

Everyone getting throwbacks but the Eagles.

I don’t think it’s a matter of anointing Herbert. I think it’s more simply that he absolutely passes the eyeball test. Forget the W-L record (let’s not revisit the Matthew Stafford argument) and just watch the way the guy plays. He can do it all.

Also, who the hell cares about fantasy football?
