Hate to see that.

Burrow was gonna knock Mahomes out of the playoffs for us this year.

Hope he is okay.

From this video it looks like a calf strain. Probably a bad one he reaggravated, but Achilles tears usually happen when you over extend and this was just a routine rollout. And often Achilles tears they collapse to the ground and immediately turn around and think they got kicked in the leg because that’s what the pop feels like. That didn’t happen here.

Hoping it’s just a cramp or strain but if it’s a torn acl or Achilles that’s harsh. Especially cause he’s the last one to get his contract done and herbert just got his the other day.

Feel bad for the bengals fans. Had Carson Palmer and he had that bad knee injury. Frankly he was still good but i don’t think he was as good as he prior. Then had to go with a ginger with no soul and then burrow tears his acl and this injury.

Pretty rare for a cart to come out of a cramp or strain.

Too many cigars will do that to ya..

Calf injuries nag. Shut him down til opening day would be a wise decision.

A calf strain is no joke if that is his status. Those injuries takes time in weeks and can linger.

This is the play

Isn't that how a lot of Achilles tears happen as well?

Never good for a season when a top player goes down in the first practice.

i hope she doesn’t take him back and says go birds

That's been Burrow's career

They need to sign Burrow regardless of the injury….but it’s the Bengals

What a nice guy. Signed his sign, took a photo, and then signed his jersey.

I mean we laugh but he gets paid eight-figures to sit home and chill with his girlfriend.

A few assumptions baked in.

The first is that Stoutland has shown reluctance to switch up multiple positions when replacing one guy. We've seen it (Dillard/Mailata), but they try to avoid it.

My second assumption is that current roster construction is indicative of the team's plans. They have a pretty great setup if Steen is the starter. They chose to sign Dennis Kelly and not a center.

Third is speculative, but it seems like they want a bigger guy there. I don't remember if it was Lane or Kelce, but one of them said Seumalo was like 320+ lbs. last year. Brooks was listed at 330. Dickerson on the other side is at least 330. Jurgens just seems like a bad fit.

Fourth is long term planning. If Jurgens is the long term center and Steen is the long term RG, then what sense does it make to switch them around unless Jurgens is significantly better.

Your cake recipe needs some modifications.

As to the first assumption, what does that even mean - the reluctance to switch up multiple positions when replacing one guy? In mid-game, yes, I would agree it's to be avoided if at all possible. However, we're not in a mid-game situation now. Stoutland appears to be switching Jurgens from C to RG, at least for the moment. If Steen should win the job, he'll be switching from LT (in college) to RG. Further, last season was an anomaly in that we basically ran the same five guys out there every week. All the same, when Dickerson went out, Stoutland switched Dillard from LT to LG, where he had been worked. Or are you talking of switching two guys when one, say, Mailata has to go out? Like flipping Johnson to LT and putting someone else in at RT? Well, Stoutland did that too, in 2015. Peters went down, Johnson moved from RT to LT and Dennis Kelly moved in to play RT.

As to the second assumption, Jurgens started out with the 1s. Isn't that indicative of the team's plans for this year? Do I think Steen will end up at RG at some point? Yes, I do, or at least I think Stoutland wants that. However, that does not mean right now. The clear plan to me is for Kelce to play C as long as he wants. When he retires, Jurgens will move to C and, hopefully Steen will be ready to play a new position at a high level. I do not think that time is right now though. Will I be happy if Steen beats out Jurgens? Somewhat because it means Stoutland thinks he can do better than Jurgens there or, if not that, he's willing to take his lumps by letting Steen grow into the role.

The third assumption is quite speculative, I agree. A point worth mentioning is that we already have a big guard in Dickerson, only he's on the left side. In the past, when we had Brooks at RG we always had a smaller LG. Part of this is by design. In the days of my youth, our team had a strong tackle, strong guard, and quick tackle, and quick guard. The strong guard would be more of a drive blocker, the quick guard more of a puller, trapper, etc. a move player. I have not seen enough of Steen to be able to judge if he can run well enough to be a move player. He's quite a bit slower than Jurgens - 40 time of 5.25 vs. 4.91 and he played in a position where he never had to run much. One of our staple plays is the outside zone. We do it well because, mostly of Kelce. When Jurgens played C last year he blocked very well in the OZ. So there's that. Do I think Steen will turn out to be a better drive blocker than Jurgens? Probably. What it comes down to then, at least in part, is what plays we want to run. It's worth mentioning, too, that Jurgens was a second-round pick and Steen a third. How much that means, if anything, I can't say.

The fourth assumption falls apart I think. It has always been obvious that the Eagles drafted Jurgens to replace Kelce when he retires. He was drafted with the expectation of sitting his first year. That's long-term planning. What overrides everything, though, is a basic premise: get your best five guys out there and figure the rest out as you go. Herremans and Andrews were drafted to play tackle but with a couple of rare exceptions, they played guard their entire careers. Steen is a rookie playing a new position. Jurgens is a second-year guy and a higher pick who knows the system. Right now I speculate that Jurgens is the better player and a better fit. How long that may be true, I can't say. As far as switching them around, it's a much bigger jump from LT to RG than it is from C to RG, the point being that both of them would be in a new position, regardless.

Finally, we have the tie-breaker. Stoutland. He'll make an informed decision. That's the icing on the cake.
