Was he always on the books until 2027? Sounds like they just tacked on some dummy years to spread it out more.

Which also means it’s fortuitous of us to extend him as cheap depth if he’s viable this year, saving from the lump sum cap hit

Not really…it doesn’t happen every year, but stories like these have been far from rare

Justin Herbert could very well be the answer next summer if he can match team success to his historic statlines, the only thing Burrow has over him

...

Burrow was a legit top 4 in the MVP consideration in 2021. He finished 4th in the voting in 2022.

His career passer rating of 100.4 would be 5th all-time if he qualified.

Herbert has never been top 10 in passer rating and has a career rating of 96.2 which is 15th behind Garoppolo, Cousins. Prescott, and Jackson.

He has to be better than Lamar and Kirk Cousins before he is a legit top 10 QB, let alone the top 2.

Its not just the wins and the playoff wins, its also that whole playing QB thing.

W9 - Cowboys

W10 BYE

W11 @ Chiefs MNF

W12 Bills

W13 49ers

W14 @ Cowboys SNF

W15 @ Seahawks

What a stretch.  They go 4-2 in that stretch then they are still legit.  If they got 5-1 or 6-0 in that stretch then they are probably the best team in the league.  If they go 3-3 or worse then that'll suck.

I know Herbert has some nice WRs to work with but he has nowhere near the level of WRs that Burrow has.  That'll help when comparing stats.   Especially when the difference of your stat is just a 4.2 difference in QB rating.

Burrow gets MVP votes because the collection of talent on his team wins. If Burrow went 10-7 on the Chargers and Herbert wins the NFCN on the Bengals, guess who gets the MVP votes now? Even with the same stats

additionally, Passer rating is also the worst analytical stat in all 4 major sports. It attempts to remove all context to just say "big pass good, interception bad” and little else

Probably gonna have to do a customized jersey to get him. I’m guessing the only players without customization they have are hurts, kelce, smith, brown and maybe Cox. That’s what fanatics had last year without doing customizable jerseys. I’m guessing pro shop at the stadium might have more

probably more to this response by you but I’m tired and don’t want to really activate my brain

If that is the case I’ll get one with Landon on it too.

That’s actually insane. I know we’ve been hyperbolizing Howie lately but the new contract is way smaller. Barnett is a legit bargain now, unbelievable job HR

I don’t understand your math

$3,500,000 plus

17 times $250,000 = $4,250,000 plus

$2,250,000

totals to $10,000,000

So you want to say Herbert is 2nd best because of pity?

Williams, Ekeler, and Allen are awesome weapons. Those 3 guys have 77 TDs the last 3 years and you want pity?

Herbert has not had great O-lines but Burrow's line has been hot garbage until they got to passable around halfway through last year.

The rating difference the last 2 years is 104.2 to 95.4. That 95.4 compares much closer to 2022 Andy Dalton (95.2), so maybe you have the wrong Bengals QB?

He could have a 104 rating this year and be on his way. So can Geno Smith(101.2 rating the last 2 seasons). It does make either of them elite yet.

The total of the game bonuses are 250, not 250 per game.

The media should use the word total when talking per game but they always give you the total.

Gets into the cap voodoo of likely vs unlikely to be earned and stuff

Click on the tweet. At the end it says The max value it can hit is 6m$. It’s not 250k per game, it’s 250k for ALL the games. If the incentives are for production and not just staying healthy, it’s very likely he’ll end up with ~4m$

They word it funny but they usually mean $250k total in per-game roster bonuses, not $250k each game
