Not sure why they keep insisting on hitting Schwarber leadoff.  27 HR means nothing when they only produce 65 total runs; Bohm has as many RBI with only 10 HR.  Two-thirds through the season and he's only scored 61 runs; basically on pace for 90 runs scored, which for a guy leading off isn't anything to write home about.  His OBP is 4th on the team, so they could have Stott, Marsh, or even Turner hit leadoff and it would make more sense.  Schwarber is a classic #5 or 6 hitter, and that's where he should be batting in the lineup.

At the moment their pitching since the middle of May has been the best ERA in baseball (or was before the pirates series). The problem is when/if you get to the playoffs you need Aaron Nola to be what they think he is. I don’t see that happening. He reminds me of 2009 Cole Hamels after the World Series run. He was all over the place and you never got consistency. They also likely need a bullpen arm because Thomson is running them into the ground. Yesterday is a prime example of a guy got removed after 73 pitches, and blowing through five bullpen arms with no days off for 17 days. That’s why it was dumb to remove him from the game regardless if he had a no-hitter or not. add on who knows what’s going on with Alvarado’s elbow and if it holds up. twice he’s been out with that injury  

wheeler has actually turned it around the past couple starts. His advance analytics show he’s pitching better than what his era shows. Frankly defense is killing him at times. they need another frontline starter to go with him because they don’t have it.  have a bunch of 3 to 5s. The best starter has been Sanchez. Which is ridiculous.

I would say you’re right about moving Schwarber to five or six normally. Because that’s what he is. But the Phillies lack power. He needs to be higher up in the lineup. he should not be leading off. You really should have Bryson Stott at one and bohm at two. then you put Harper at 3 and Schwarber at four. Because those three guys who have high on base percentage on the year and usually they get on base 4-7 times combined per game. If he comes up with 1,2 or all 3 on base he could connect and give you 2-4 runs on a homer. He has 19 solo home runs of his 27. You lose one of those likely 4 potential opportunities with him simply batting leadoff.

The Canada team played poorly, but the federation also didn't give them proper training camps. They're all to blame.
