The NFL does nothing worse than they do their suspensions. They make it up as they go along. There's no consistency or logic.

You can physically assault someone and get suspended 3 games.

But if you bet on an MLB game and happen to have your foot in the door of an NFL practice facility, you get suspended 6 games.

It makes zero sense whatsoever.

Derek Carr is a loser with pretty stats. I'm not sure he's an upgrade on how Dalton played last year.

The Saints were something like 4-10 without Taysom Hill magic last year. Its some nice magic but you can't exactly pencil it in 3 times while Kamara is out.

Its about the money. Its a 6 Billion dollar corporation founded on a bedrock of sports betting.

They are not the 2nd crack at the US justice system.

The 1-5 game suspension ranges for thugery are part of CBA negotiations.

The weed suspensions vanishing was also part of the CBA negotiations.

The ban hammer for gambling is at the very fabric of every pro sports league.

If they aren't the criminal justice system, then why suspend players for off the field wrongdoing at all? If they're going to dip their toes in those waters, then expect them to be called out when their version of justice handed out doesn't fit the crime and has no consistency from incident to incident.

Of course it's the money. It's still bad though.

You have to think this could be an attractive thing for players to consider when signing FA contracts.

Small correction there, he was not ruled innocent. Being found not guilty just means couldn't be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. He may or may not be innocent, no one knows the answer to that aside from him and his accusers.
