It could be that Jurgens and Steen have very similar size, ability, athleticism, and skillsets. Only one of them got a 1 year certificate from Stoutland U at this point. Good for Jurgens and I hope he excels, but don't think of it as Steen losing a competition.  If Kelce comes back in 2024 to go for a repeat title then there would be a real competition for that spot.

As for arm length, the NFL prefers 34 inches+ for OTs but being below that is not a death sentence. They also prefer QBs to be 6'4"+

  • Lane Johnson dominates with 35 1/4 arms.
  • Jordan Mailata has 35 1/2 arms.
  • Jason Peters dominated with 33 1/8 arms.
  • Steen measured at 32 3/4 arm length.
  • Driscoll measures in at 33 FWIW

Arm length matters for sealing the edge and punching the opposing lineman.

We've seen that with Mialata, he's so long that when you beat him, he can still steer a DE past his QB with his hands.

Peters combined great quickness with raw power, his feet compensated for shorter arms on the edge, and he blocked like a guard on power moves.

Steen isn't in the same ballpark as Peters when it comes to quick feet, but who is? Eagles are just spoiled, Tra to Peters to Mialata at LT, Runyan to Johnson at RT.

We really have had some of the best hockey players protecting our QB over he years.

Well, that explains why the Flyers have sucked for so long. All their best players play for the Eagles.

He didn't knock him out.  He clipped him pretty good and stunned him but he definitely wasn't out.

I like how the umpire was trying to get in between them and as soon as they squared up the ump took off and was out 😄.

He's no NHL linesman.

Wasn't Steen the LT at Alabama? His issue is arm length, which makes him a better candidate for guard at the NHL level, but that's more a matter of upside, as far as being able to fill in, he was an excellent college LT.

I think he's need to work on his stick handling, but he's good on the forecheck.

Stoutland routinely performs a Miracle on Ice.

Rapinoe chokes during PK's and USWNT is out of the world cup.  Carli Lloyd was spot on about this team.  Zero passion and way too much arrogance.

Other countries have also started to catch up to funding. For years, the USA significantly outspent everyone. While they still spend the most, it's no longer that much larger and the gap has been narrowed.

Man, what's wrong with me. Kay Adams just looks trashy anymore, even though she looks good. She was so much more attractive to me before she hit it big with her own show. You could see her transforming from the really, really cute girl next door to close your eyes and pick your Insta Gram girl out of a hat. I also just feel like she's been run through by half the league too.

Maybe she's transitioning from (cute) girl to (attractive) woman?

Finally had my first complete grid. Didn't hurt to have an Eagles row.

I don't think so. Attractive woman to me isn't layers and layers of makeup.

I got zapped by the practice squad again. Turns out Kenjon Barner never actually played a game for the Chargers even though I vividly remember him in that uniform

Basing all of my thoughts on the little we're given from terrible camp coverage🤣 Sorry, had to get that in there for the day!

-Yea, seems like RG is Jurgens job to lose. It sounds like he's been inconsistent which you would think would give Steen the chance to sneak in there but he hasn't. I'm perfectly OK with Steen being OL6 and Jurgens the RG for 2023. Steen will see the field at some point along the line this year and then in 2024, RG is his and Jurgens is C.

-Swift is your starting RB and like I've been saying from the day he got here, I think they'd be wise to lock him up for 3 years before the season starts. He's young, supremely talented and a Philly guy. If he stays healthy he's going to be a stud.

-With the way the Eagles hold camp, I'm not surprised we haven't heard much. The good news is Davis came in to camp in shape and Carters strength has been on display. Going to be hard to have any opinion on these guys (or any for that matter) until the lights go on next Saturday. Reub is doing a focus on Ojomo and I really think he's going to have a role on this team. Might be limited but he's going to be here. This might sound premature but he might be a replacement for Milton Williams down the road. It sounds like Milton is a man on a mission and if he plays like many of us think, his next contract could be a doozie.

-I'm THRILLED to see Nolan Smith get reps as an off-ball LB. The Eagles NEED LB and Smith could be a damn good one. Plus, there's nothing keeping Desai from rushing him from any position. Doesn't have to be lined up at Reddick's position to rush. I want the best talent on the field and Smith is already one of their best on defense. He needs to be on the field.

-Dean on the other hand...I'm going with the optimistic approach and saying he's a gamer. His #1 job in camp should be making sure he has everyone lined up where they need to be. His style is so dependent on read/react/explode. Kind of hard to do that in camp if you're constantly needing to let up because of contact rules and such. I think he shows up on gameday and that's what matters.

-Greedy isn't making this team. I loved him as a prospect and was happy when they brought him in. I'm a huge supporter of bringing in as many elite talented players as possible. No matter if they've been a bust or just haven't reached their potential yet, having elite talent is a terrific place to start. I posted about it during the week but I really think the Eagles have stocked the CB room with some great young talent. Long, lean, outside CB with range. I'm on board with keeping 7+ in order to keep them around. Williams wouldn't be one of those guys right now though.

-Jalen Hurts is the guy, no questions asked.

-I'll add a few more (again based on our limited, terrible coverage! haha)

-I think Boston Scott is in a roster battle he hasn't had before with Sermon. The coaches seem to love Sermon and I'm excited to see him get some PT behind the staters.

-TE2 is still a need. Calcaterra has been mentioned a few times but nothing that really jumps out to me. Watching other teams camp highlights, so many available since we don't get any, I keep seeing these rookie TE's making play after play. I was really wanting the Eagles to snag one in this draft. There was so much TE talent.

-Is the K'Von Wallace hype real or is he just keeping the seat warm?

-I've already heard enough about Nick Morrow to know that I don't want him on the team, nor do I think he makes it. I'd rather take a gamble on Ben VanSumeren and his elite athletic ability than Morrow.

-Hope to see Charleston Rambo play a ton in the games.

Only six practices in, four for Dean, so it is early.

I would expect Jurgens to be ahead of Steen at this point.  I believe Driscoll is as well.  Note that Driscoll has had as many reps as Steen at LT and significantly more at RT.  Steen isn’t OL6 at this point, heck it sounds like Opeta is ahead of him at G at this point, which is not surprising either.  We are a long way from the first game.

I really think Hot Hand/Best Matchup is the starting RB right now.  Note, in goal line, Gainwell continues to get the reps.  In Pass Pro, Scott turned out.  (Running into him is like running full bore into a fire hydrant).  The real test for Sermon and Scott are in PS games.  Jury is still out on Penny.

DTs shine when the line plays full thud.  We have to be real careful with the interpretation of the one on ones and even the 7 on 7s and 11 on 11s. One thing I recall from practice and especially going to Lehigh and getting as close as possible on the fence to the practice.  They are focusing right now.  The competition practices are scripted.  The coach wants to see certain things, test certain areas and get reps on certain types of matchups.  So what the Beats and we see as wins and losses aren’t necessarily what the coach is seeing.

Like seeing N Smith and K Johnson at off ball backers.  Sharpen the SAM and ILB skills.  Desai is going to run more disguises than Gannon (who, frankly, was bad at it).  Dean has a lot his plate.  Hope he is back soon. His TC and the reps he got in garbage time were night and day last year.  The first half of the season, I thought he was bad on STs but that changed around the last third of the season.   Not sure what to make of Morrow.  Not ready to throw in the towel yet.  Find the Edmunds reps at LB interesting.  Makes me almost wonder if the Eagles go lighter at ILB and long at S.

Speaking of S.  Evans has been a bit quiet as far as reporting.

Greedy was brought in pre resigning of Slay and Bradberry, pre drafting of Ringo.  Like McPherson and I think the Eagles do too.  Looks good at Slot.  Like Jobe getting Bradberry reps.  Haven’t liked Greedy as a player in the NFL.  Do wonder if Howie can flip him the a third day pick.  Not noticed but Goodrich is getting some time with the twos at slot CB.  I worry he is too light but I like that he is getting that.  Competition between Scott and him makes both better.  Sounds like the rookies, Ringo and the heralded UDFAs are getting challenged a lot.  Still early and CB from college to pro is a huge change in rules.

Mariota and his misfires have me worried but in perspective, Dak has as many interceptions and Mayfield leads him by a lot (seven).  Looking forward to seeing Mariota, Book and Tanner in PS games.  What really stood out of the PS write ups was something I think Berman said about Hurts accuracy over the middle of the field.  That was a worry for me about him and I am glad to hear that.

Interesting thing about TEs.  Stoll is catching passes. Wonder if Calcaterra is blocking better.  Jackson has shined some.  An interesting tidbit is that Russell is sounding like a PS Stoll.  I figured he was a favor signing for his Dad.

The Wallace stuff is interesting.  Evans sounds like the odd man out at this point, but see my comments about Edmunds play at LB above.

I like what I am hearing at WR, considering the depth concerns.  Watkins and OZ seem solid locks at 3 and 4 (really almost sounds like two threes) and Covey sounds like he is better at routes now.  Ward is balling it too.  Sounds like Ngata has some potential.  PS games will be interesting to see the non starting WRs.

What a way to end it. This is such an unlikable team outside of Alex Morgan, seems like every other one of them thinks their ish doesn't stink and they're God's gift to soccer (especially Rapinoe).

That's what keeps getting me. Not even practice squad but players currently in TC who you KNOW are going to be on the 53. I feel if we know who those guys are we should boost the rarity!

Turns out the cool feel good story wasn't feel good after all.

I just love how real John Kruk is

Of course ESP would say this. Surprised he didn't say if he got a standing ovation he could have done that too.

Should we start calling him Steeny?

A lot of people wanted him here to replace Nate Gerry so thankfully Gettleman gave him a ton of money to do nothing for the Giants.

Spoiler

I mixed up Matt Cassel with Matt Schaub. Bleh!  I also went easy button with Welker and Portis.

SB Champ Seth Joyner in the house and hail to the King (Dunlap)

Jordan Davis said his goal is 5 sacks this season.

Yet Kempski thinks Scott can’t be a factor in the passing game.
